    The lightning flash with arrowhead, within anequilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to thepresence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within theproducts enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitudeto constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

    Caution: To prevent the risk of electric shock, do notremove cover (or back). No user- serviceable partsinside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

    The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle isintended to alert the user to the presence of importantoperating and maintenance (servicing) instructions inthe literature accompanying the appliance.

    Safety Instructions

    Read Instructions All the safety and operating instructionsshould be read before the appliance is operated.

    Retain Instructions The operating instructions should beretained for future reference.

    Heed Warning All warnings on the appliance and in theoperating instructions should be adhered to.

    Follow Instructions All operating and use instructionsshould be followed.

    Water and Moisture The appliance should not be used nearwater for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundrytub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool, etc.

    Outdoor Use Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electricshock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.

    Location The appliance should be installed in a stable location.

    Ventilation The appliance should be situated so that itslocation or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. Forexample, the appliance should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug, orsimilar surface that may block the ventilation openings; or placed in abuilt-in installation, such as a closed bookcase or cabinet that mayimpede the flow of air through the ventilation openings.

    Heat The appliance should be situated away from heat sourcessuch as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (includingamplifiers) that produce heat.

    Power Sources The appliance should be connected to a powersupply only of the type described in the operating instructions or asmarked on the appliance.

    Power-Cord Protection Power-supply cords should berouted so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced upon or against them. Pay particular attention to cords atplugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from theappliance.

    Grounding or Polarization The precautions that shouldbe taken so that the grounding or polarization means of an applianceis not defeated.

    Cleaning The appliance should be cleaned only with a polishingcloth or a soft dry cloth. Never clean with furniture wax, benzene,insecticides or other volatile liquids since they may corrode the cabinet.

    Non-Use Periods The power cord of the appliance should beunplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long period of time.

    Lightning Storms Unplug the appliance during lightningstorms.

    Object and Liquid Entry Care should be taken so thatobjects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosurethrough openings.

    Accessories Only use attachments/accessories specified by themfg.

    Damage Requiring Service The appliance should beserviced by qualified service personnel when:

    The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged.

    Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance.

    The appliance has been exposed to rain.

    The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance.

    The appliance has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.

    Servicing The user should not attempt to service the appliance.Servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel or returned to the dealer or call the Altec Lansing service line for assistance.

    two Year Limited Warranty

    Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. warrants to the end user that all of itsPC audio, TV or gaming speaker systems are free from defects inmaterial and workmanship in the course of normal and reasonable usefor a term of two years from the date of purchase.

    This warranty is the exclusive and only warranty in effect relative toAltec Lansing PC audio, TV or gaming speaker systems and any otherwarranties, either expressed or implied, are invalid. Neither AltecLansing Technologies, Inc. nor any authorized Altec LansingTechnologies, Inc. reseller is responsible for any incidental damagesincurred in the use of the speakers. (This limitation of incidental orconsequential damage is not applicable where prohibited.)

    Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc.s obligation under this warranty doesnot apply to any defect, malfunction or failure as a result of misuse,abuse, improper installation, use with faulty or improper equipment orthe use of the speaker systems with any equipment for which theywere not intended.

    The terms of this warranty apply only to PC audio, TV or gamingspeaker systems when such speakers are returned to the respectiveauthorized Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. reseller where they werepurchased.

    Under the terms of this warranty, the original consumer purchaser hascertain legal rights and may have other rights, which vary worldwide.

    CAUTIONTo prevent electric shock do not use this (polarized) plug with anextension cord, receptacle or other outlet unless the blades can be fully inserted to prevent blade exposure.

    Placing Speakers

    Subwoofer

    All stereo information is heard through the satellite speakers. Becauselow frequency sound is non-directional, you can place the subwooferanywhere you choose. However, placing the subwoofer on the floorclose to a wall or in a corner provides better bass efficiency andoptimum sound.

    WARNING: The subwoofer is not magnetically shielded. Therefore, itSHOULD always be placed at least 2 feet (0.6m) from TVs, computermonitors, computer hard drives or any other magnetic media (e.g.floppy disks, Zip disks, VHS or cassette tapes, etc.).

    Satellite Speakers

    Arrange the two front satellites to suit your listening tastes fromdirectly next to the TV to as far apart as the speaker cords allow.Arrange the two rear satellites behind and to either side of yourlistening position.

    NOTE: The satellite speakers ARE magnetically shielded and can beplaced close to video displays such as TVs and computer monitorswithout distorting the image.

    Center Speaker

    Position the center speaker directly in front of you as close to the TV as possible.

    NOTE: The center speaker IS magnetically shielded and can be placedclose to video displays such as TVs and computer monitors withoutdistorting the image.

    Making Connections

    WARNING: Do not insert the speaker systems power adapter plug intoan AC outlet until all connections are made. Also, turn off your audiosource (i.e., TV, video gaming system, DVD player or VCR) beforeconnecting its outputs to the XA3051s inputs.

    To ensure first-time operation as expected, please carefully follow theconnection sequence described below.

    Satellite and Center Speakers

    To set-up the XA3051 system, plug the right satellites orangeconnector into the RIGHT output on the rear of the subwoofer andthe left satellites brown connector into the LEFT output on the rearof the subwoofer. Plug the right rear satellites purple connector intothe "RIGHT REAR" output on the rear of the subwoofer and the left

    rear satellites gold connector into the "LEFT REAR" output on the rearof the subwoofer. Plug the center speakers blue connector into theCENTER output on the rear of the subwoofer.

    Wired Controller

    Connect the grey-colored DIN connector from the wired controller intothe grey CONTROLLER jack on the rear of the subwoofer.

    For easy insertion of the DIN connector, the arrow on the connectormust face up.

    Primary Inputs

    The primary input jacks are located on the subwoofer. Using thesupplied RCA cable, connect any audio source that has red (right) andwhite (left) RCA output jacks to the XA3051s red (right) and white(left) RCA input jacks.

    In some setup configurations, you may want to use the suppliedcomposite video (yellow) RCA extender cable to allow greaterseparation between the TV and subwoofer.

    NOTE: For the clearest sound, try muting your TVs speakers whenusing the TV as an audio source.

    Auxiliary Input

    The auxiliary or secondary input is located on the subwoofer. Connectany audio source that has a stereo 3.5mm plug (i.e. headphone stylejack), including portable CD or MP3 players.
