HAccounts Receivable, Contracts & Billing for Contract-Based BillingThis is your day to learn about the contract schedule of values and other billing options for producing progress, lump sum and unit-type invoices in Billing. We’ll show you how to edit, void and adjust invoices in Accounts Receivable. In addition, we’ll give the details on standard contracts, revenue and AR account retrieval, contract change orders, AR contacts, retainage, hierarchy, invoice text, and report-ing. We’ll answer your questions and help you with your specific issues.

HEstimating in ActionIn this hands-on workshop, we’ll spend the day utilizing On-Screen Takeoff® to generate quantities, input into Estimating assemblies, adjust the takeoff quantities when an ad-dendum arrives, price the items in Estimat-ing for our scope, and bid the project using Estimating. We’ll also send the project to accounting Job Cost electronically. You’ll see what happens when you get that great news: “Congratulations! You are the low bidder and have been awarded the project.”

HBasic to Intermediate ODBC (Open Database Connectivity)If you’ve always wanted to learn ODBC, but didn’t know where to start, it’s here. Over a full day, you’ll understand the basics and go on to intermediate activities. You’ll learn what a DSN is and how to set one up, as well as how to use ODBC with Microsoft® Access, Word and Excel—each with its own lab activity. You’ll mine valuable data buried deep within the system and bring it to the surface for report-ing. Please come with a working knowledge of Word and Excel and some understanding of Access.

HInquiry Designer & Financial Statement DesignerExpand your skills in other tools: Inquiry Designer and Financial Statement Designer. This full-day workshop is for the user who wants more than basic inquiries and financial statement reports. You’ll design and change inquiries to drill down to the information you need. You’ll learn more about the Sage Tim-berline Office record layout and how to write public formulas. You’ll understand the basic functions of Financial Statement Designer,

then expressions, accumulators, cell over-rides, formatting, and field-type selections. Financials will include budget comparison and entity comparison. Before the day is done, you’ll have the skills to do a cash flow statement by month. For discussion, bring your ideas and problems.

HBasic Report Designer (Same class Presented Wednesday)Here’s the workshop for those with little or no experience with Report Designer. After an introduction to the module (menus, shortcuts, and data structure), we’ll create a custom report—from scratch—then build on it us-ing several application features. You’ll learn sorting, formatting, and setting conditions, as well as the basics of formulas and functions. Throughout the day, you can ask questions and even review any report designs that you’ve attempted on the job. If you’ve been working with Sage Timberline Office for several months, you’ll get the most out of this session.

HAdvanced Report DesignerIt’s time to expand your skills in creating reports. This full-day workshop is designed for intermediate users who have three to five years of Sage Timberline Office experience and basic experience with Report Designer. HAccounts Receivable, Contracts & Billing for Cost-Based BillingTake a day to learn how to set up a contract and billing in order to produce time and ma-terials and cost-plus to maximum invoices. In Billing, we’ll set up rate tables, markup tables, add-on tables and standard items. In Con-tracts, we’ll discuss using standard contracts, linking the contract items to the job and cost code, how the Type of salary cost field works, and how to bill commitments before receiving the AP invoice. We’ll also cover revenue and AR account retrieval, contract change orders, and reporting. We want to hear your questions and issues.

HWhat to Do When Your Estimate is “Done”: Printouts, Estimating Report Manager, Buyout, Explorer, and ToolsSo you’ve completed an estimate, but need to see the project through from printing out the bid to buying out the contracts. We’ll show how built-in estimating tools, as well as other add-on tools, can assist you. We’ll address the importance of creating and implementing a process in your company to allow for general maintenance of estimates and your databases—often an estimating department’s responsibility. We’ll review the

tools for completing these tasks and others you do daily.

HAdvanced to Expert ODBC: Dashboards, Financials & MacrosImagine starting your work day with a single dashboard that gives you key information on your company, produces financial statements in Microsoft® Excel, and uses macros to au-tomate imports. This workshop demonstrates advanced features in Excel and ODBC to enhance your reporting and importing func-tions. This session is for users who have prior experience using ODBC and who are comfort-able using Excel 2003.

HIntermediate to Advanced ODBC: Using AccessIf you’re working with ODBC, but want to ad-vance, this full-day workshop is your ticket. It is for intermediate or quick learners who want to build on their existing foundation of open database connectivity. You’ll learn the rules of using ODBC with Service Management and Purchasing/IV, along with the easier core modules. Take data from one record and update another to avoid duplication. We’ll have activities to create records, do mass updates (like marking thousands of WOs or POs closed with a quick date range selection in a blink of an eye), and to create your own menus in Microsoft® Access. You’ll even see how project managers can create jobs in the field—without access to accounting. Discover many new ways to get the most from your Sage Timberline Office data. Please come with a working knowledge of Access.

HBasic Report Designer (Same class Presented Tuesday)Here’s the workshop for those with little or no experience with Report Designer.

HIntermediate Report Designer for Accounting: Modifying Canned Reports, Working with Formulas & Custom FieldsWish you could find a few more hours in your day? Spend one day in this workshop

learning how to regain a few of those hours by modifying existing Sage Timberline Office reports, working with formulas, and utilizing custom fields. Are you still completing your WIP report in Microsoft® Excel? We’ll modify the WIP as of a specific date report, including prior year profit per job. We’ll also modify the committed cost report to add subcontract compliance items, including certified payroll reports obtained from the subcontractor. Next, you’ll work with the 1099 Preparation report to add a field for tracking W-9s. Next on the list will be the AP lien waiver with invoice detail report. As a group, we’ll discuss customizing the text, then, with help from the instructor and lab assistants, you’ll customize one of your own reports.

HBasic Crystal Reports for Ac-counting or PJ (Same class Presented Tuesday)You’re ready to make the jump to designing Crystal reports with the Sage Timberline Of-fice database. Spend the day learning how to write reports for the core Accounting and Project Management applications. We’ll set up ODBC, then create new reports. However, we highly recommend that you be familiar with the Sage Timberline Office database and have Crystal installed and ready to use once you return to your office.

HIntermediate Crystal Reports for Project ManagementNow that you’ve taken a beginner’s course in Crystal and feel comfortable with the software, let’s build and edit Crystal reports for Project Management and Address Book. This full-day course covers the data structure of these ap-plications and the common Sage Timberline Office functions used on canned reports. You’ll edit canned PJ and AB reports like a pro. In the second half of day, we’ll build from scratch a company directory that you can deploy on the Sage Desktop, as well as an automated pro-jected overrun notification report to take back to the office.
