PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

Congratulations to Mrs Bates and the P and C for the organisation of the Year 12 farewell dinner. The food was fantastic and the presentations were outstanding. The students thoroughly enjoyed the evening and on Friday they will have the Western Access Graduation Dinner in Dubbo.

The Year 7 transition taster day was brilliant, the feedback from kids and parents was that it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The teachers are to be congratulated on the engaging and enriching lessons. We look forward to another transition day in Term 4.

Congratulations to Miss Border and the primary girls that trialled for Western Area Cricket PSSA. Miss Border selected a very strong team which will contest the NSWPSSA championships in Term 4 at Dubbo.

Thanks to Mr McLaurin for his efforts in Metals and Engineering. It is fantastic to see such a passionate teacher provide additional assessment opportunities for students of the Western Access Program to obtain competencies for their qualification.

Big Gig rehearsals are in full swing and the reports are it will be a brilliant show, thanks to Mrs Tremain, Mrs Blatch, Miss Border and Mrs Johnson for their time and effort to put on the production. I look forward to the night performance on Thursday next week.

Don’t forget our paver promotion which finishes up on September 10. These will then be ordered and laid early next term.

LITERACY AND NUMERACY WEEK IN K/1/2

As part of the Literacy and Numeracy Week celebrations K/1/2 have been doing some engaging activities. In literacy we read the book ‘Banjo and Ruby Red’. We did a comprehension task and a range of writing activities based on the book. K/1/2 also listened to the book in Thai. We thought this was very interesting. We created digital artworks and chicken drawings, we were very proud of how they turned out. In Numeracy K/1/2 engaged in the theme ‘Explore’ and created pictures in groups with shapes. K12 have enjoyed celebrating Literacy and Numeracy Week.

Miss Crain and K/1/2

PRIMARY SPORT

Primary students are reaping the benefits of a fantastic grant acquired by Mr Coote. This has enabled us to run the ‘Game On’ rugby program aimed at teaching the basic skills of rugby union to primary aged students. Mr Wright, Mr Kinscher ( our prac student) and Mr Coote presented the afternoon to the kids. These lessons will continue for the remainder of term.
