KIDZ QUIZ: All  students are  invited  to com‐plete  the quiz and hand  it  in at the  office  by  Thursday  each week by 3.20 pm.

SPORTS REPORT: What a week  in sport. Western Area Run‐ners Up  for girls and boys water polo and 3rd  place  in Western  Area  for  boys’  soft‐ball.  

On Wednesday 13 March we  travelled  to Cowra  to play  in  the Western Area water polo  championships.  The  girls  team  con‐sisted  of  Brittney  Smith,  Tamara  Lees, Paige Murphy,  Abby  Pittis,  Alison  Brown, Morgan Mobbs, Anna Hunter, Danika Phil‐lips, Shanai Butler and Maddie Harvey. We played a  strong Cowra  team  in  the West‐ern  final  and  the  score was  10  –  1.  The Yabbies played extremely well and player’s player went to Paige Murphy.   

The boys also made the Western final and this  was  an  absolute  cracker  of  a  game. We were up 7 – 3 and Cowra fought back 

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Congratulations  to Mrs  Debbie  Blatch who has been appointed as our AP  En‐gagement  for  2013.  The  position  is funded  through  our  National  Partner‐ships‐Low  SES  grant.  Mrs  Blatch  will work with our staff to develop our skills in literacy, differentiating the curriculum and  student  engagement,  all  of  which are  priorities  for  Yeoval  Central  School this year.  

Congratulations to all students and staff who participated  in  the sporting events last week. This  included Mr Olsson, Mr McLaurin  and Mr Rogers who took our Water  Polo and Softball sides away  for competition.  

Well done to Years 8, 9 and 10 who par‐ticipated  in  our  annual  canoeing  trip. Thank you to Mrs  Tremain, Mr McLau‐rin, Mr  Rogers  and Ms  Kerin  for  their efforts to make these events successful.  

Parents of Year 9 students are invited to attend an information session tonight at 6pm  in  the  library  regarding  their ‘Digital Education Revolution’ (DER) Lap‐tops. The laptops will be issued tonight.

to tie the game. We went to first period of extra time and we both scored a goal, and then went to second  period  of  extra  time  and  both  scored  a goal.  It then went down to penalty shootout and after the first round it was still all tied, Cowra won during  the  second  shootout  on  the  last  penalty. The  boy’s  team  consisted  of  Anaru  Poihakena‐Jackson, Matthew Wykes, Jake Monk, Jordon Har‐vey,  Cody  McConnell,  Jayden  Cusack,  Ethan Monk, Jordon Stubbs, Billy Kramer and Grant  Iles who  was  also  awarded  players  player.  These  2 teams  were  outstanding  and  I  was  extremely proud  of  their  efforts  and  the  way  they  repre‐sented the school. Thanks to the parents who as‐sisted with transport.  

On  Thursday  14 March we  travelled  to Mudgee for  the  first  time  to  contest  the Western  Area Softball trials. This was a great experience and the boys  exceeded  all  expectations  and  came  3rd overall.  We  played  Mudgee  first  and  were  de‐feated  15  –  6  which  was  fantastic  for  our  first game.  Second  game we  played  Blayney  the  de‐

fending  champs  and  were  outclassed  and  fairly scared of the speed of the pitching and went down 12  –  7,  the  highlight  of  this  game  was  Corey Furminger's  amazing  outfield  catch.  We  then played  a  fun  game  against  Orange  High  and  the game was  extremely  close  as  it was  tied  for  the first 2 innings with the highlight Josh Berney hitting a triple. We then drew Canobolas in the playoff for third  and  fourth  and won  the  game  10  –  0.  Jake Monk  hit  2  home  runs  and  Jordon  Harvey  hit  1 home run in this game.   

The  boys  did  extremely  well  and  thoroughly  en‐joyed  a  new  game  and  challenge  against  larger schools. Mr. Rogers was an awesome coach and his hard work during training helped the boys to suc‐ceed. Thanks to Eddie Monk for driving and acting as  first  base  coach.  The  team  consisted  of  Jake Monk,  Anaru  Poihakena‐Jackson,  Jordon  Harvey, Josh Berney, Jordon Stubbs, Ethan Monk, Matthew Wykes, Grant  Iles  and  Corey  Furminger who was also voted players player. Well done to the Yeoval Yankees.

FUTURE MOVES:  

Charles Sturt University (CSU) are coming to YCS on  Tuesday 19 March.    They  are  conducting  a number of workshops from Years 3 – 12 to help students    discover  their  potential  and  suggest university  options.  All  students  need  to  com‐plete a photo consent form needed by CSU.  

CLAIMING THE DATE:  Yeoval Central School P & C will be holding a Mothers Day Stall early next term—Friday 10 May. Gifts will be priced between $1.00 and $5.00 and will be sold at re‐cess.
