Introduction

This winter at Camp Snyder, there was a chemical accident during a test at the S.T.E.M. Shack. The Scouts in charge of this test were creating a formula that had a green hue. After the chemical accident, a bug made its way into the lab and landed in the chemical. Somehow this bug was infected by the material, and could transfer sickness.

One week after the incident, a scout patrol went to the S.T.E.M. Shack to do 3D printing. After they had gotten the materials for 3D printing, they found an odd-looking green bug at the table. This bug bit all the scouts, and slowly turned these scouts into zombies!

Now it’s time for the Camporee Scouts to test their outdoor and problem-solving skills as a patrol and try to survive the infestation. To compete, each patrol needs to complete the trip to the survival centers and collect cures while avoiding the zombie infestations.

This leader’s guide contains the information you need to make this Camporee a success for your patrol. Please read this entire guide, it will explain the rules and logistics for the Zombie Survival Scout Skills Winter Camporee and provide a list for your unit to ensure you have necessary supplies prior to arrival. The most successful Units at this year’s Camporee will have thoroughly read and attained a complete understanding of all the information covered in this Guide.

Scouts will have the chance to test their scout skills such as fire building, knots, lashings, construction, first aid and more as they visit our Survival Centers

Afternoon Patrol Activities

• Zombie Crawl Race: Set up a starting line and a finish line. Have all the zombies lie down behind the starting line, flat on their tummies. Tell the zombies they have lost their legs and must crawl/drag themselves to the finish line. The first zombie to cross the finish line wins the race and received one zombie cure!

• Zombie Tag: In this game, one player is the zombie; the rest are humans. The zombie stands in the middle of the play area. Designate two safe zones on either side of the play area. The humans must start in one safe zone and make their way to the other safe zone without being tagged by the zombie. Any players who are tagged by the zombie must freeze in place. All of the humans who made it to the safe zone must try again to cross back to the original safe zone. Along the way, a human can tag a frozen player to set him/her free but must be careful not to be tagged in the process. Free players can make their way back to the safe zone for the next round. Players who were not set free become zombies, too, and help the first zombie tag humans as they run across. Keep playing until everyone had been turned into a zombie.

• Zombie Battles: The two Zombie get into a squatting position, with the staff held behind the knees with hands clasped around the staff. Each Zombie tries to knock over his rival. (Just need your balance)

• Survival Supplies Scavenger Hunt: Each patrol will be given a list of survival items to find and bring to the station. (Need brains and Be creative!)

• Service Project: Help the Order of the Arrow with a project to keep the zombies away.
