TASK 1In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 2: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4
Page 3: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

1.In image one it shows 4 character on a bench with one of them lying across

their laps making it look like he is flying, this links to the song with lyrics when Jamie-T sing “Here he’s high flyin ant that”. This is an illustrative example of the link between visuals and lyrics.

2. This image is good to use because this is the sort of picture a record

company would use showing us as the audiences that the main character is interested in music. On the drums also showing that he is musical and talented.

3. This next picture of Zac and Tom represents the ‘Indi genre . The clothes

that they are wearing is a typical look towards the style, by butting up there shirt and wearing skinny trousers with a hat on. Zac is dressed in a similar way in which Jamie-T would be.

4.This Shot of Zac and Tom in the background going down an ally way is

similar to the music video itself (Sticks and Stones). When him and his friend are running down the ally.

5.This camera shot of tom is a low angle. This works well because of the dark

sort of colour and the guitar working well with the sky.

Page 4: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

6.In this shot we have used a dim light to give the viewers the effect that

it’s the morning and he is just about to wake up. We created this dim light by putting paper over a small light giving it a good effect.

7.The Mise-en-scene of this photo was supposed to portray like they have

just had a heavy night with beer bottle and Tobacco on the floor giving it that sort of environment. This combines with their costumes and positions in the scene to create a particular feel.

8.The shot of the group of boys on top of a roof works well by also seeing

this done by many other artist and bands.9.The final shot has been seen many times by showing the audience the

wealth of some artists by him being young and getting into a Range Rover.

1. This shows someone on a platform of a station and at the same time uses the lyrics that say ‘Well the across the platform shouting lightweight pricks’ many artist use these techniques in the video that relate to the lyrics because it make the video sound more effective.

2. In this photo it shows a band playing in front of a crowed which shows us as the audience that they are interested and very talented musicians. This is the type of shot a record company would use because there obtusely well known by the amount of people there watching.

3.In this next shot it shows us a typical style of an Indi genre with not only the clothing that he is wearing but also the hair style he has got, this is a very similar style to Jamie-T.

4.This shot shows us 50 cent and his group going into a club all wearing a similar style of clothing giving us the impression that its more Hip-hop than Indi. This relates to the Jamie-T video of going down the ally with his friends and know one else who they don’t know.

5.The use of camera angle is good on this snap shop because eit give you a clear view of who is the main person and him ‘leading’ his friends showing us he is powerful and by a close up of his face showing us he is powerful in a way. This is very conventional in genres such as hip-hop.

6. In this shot they have used a dim light which portrays the song with the lyrics, this also shows us the type of mood the song is set in and how she is trying to get her point across. By using this lighting and creating shadows it creates a meaning to the specific shot.

7.The Mise-en-scene of this photo isn't so much good but relates to the type of music video it is. By having the main character dressed up in a typical R&B style. Also having sun glasses giving it that preppy look.

8. This is similar to our music video in which it is a group of boys together as a group. And by the looks of it they are all friends.

9.With this photo it shows us how celebrities show of there wealth and success. I used this photos because it is a classic example of a rich artist splashing his money in a club for everyone else.

TASK 2How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Page 9: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

When comparing this photo to the front cover it links in well with each other. We decided to scatter beer bottles around the floor and on peoples laps to show the viewers that we have been drinking the night before. I find by doing this it gives of more to the genre of the music video.

In this picture on the right would be either the picture or a similar one in which we would use on the front cover magazine. This is a picture of Zac who is the main role (Jamie-T). Buy using a image of the main character is good for marketing for catching the viewers eye and wanting them to buy the product.

TASK 3What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 11: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

1. Class and teacher feedback on your initial treatment

For our treatment we received a large amount of feedback from the teacher and other pupils in the class. The class and our teacher really enjoyed the idea of a group of boys mucking around with good qualities to it. The feedback we got at the start was positive about our song choice and how it wasn’t only a good song but it suited the type of people we actually are. This song isn't well know at all really however its an interesting Indi peace. We posted this video on Facebook not thinking people would take any knowledge however we managed to get a number of likes and a few comments say “when’s it finished” ect. We where happy that people where going to watch it at its final product. It did cross our mind that the video its self would become repetitive and boring so we decided to make sure that didn’t happen by many different caption locations and a lot of camera shot that are taken to keep the viewers interested.

2. Rough cut- class feedback and teacher feedback

When we made are first cut of the video to our class the feedback we got was good and mostly positive, as a group of producing this video happy with the changes that we made. This is evidence of feedback and also giving us advise for example about the drumming of the song in one of the scenes.

We then as a class all got feedback from Mr Milburn our Media Studies teacher. He gave us positive thought and a couple of pointers that we could use during the film for example with one of the opening scenes was too long and it may bored out audience. So we decided to cut that scene short by a couple of seconds to intrest the viewers more than before.

Page 13: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

When we had to all show are front cover to the rest of the class we got some positive and helpful feed back. The main positive feedback was that the front and back relate to each other with alcohol. However some of the positive things that where used to help us was that the front cover needed some more detail because there view was that it was a bit plain.

After we finished are music video we got a lot of feedback from the class, the feedback was mostly positives about the use of camera shots and editting that had gone on throughout the video. When we uploaded this video on face book we also got a lot of feedback from our friends and family that watched it. However we also had people’s opinions on the film and what else do you reckon we could have added, we found this information helpful towards the end product of the music video.

4. Final version of everything- class feedback and facebook from anyone else

TASK 4How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Page 16: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

This is a collage I made of all the equipment I used to produce this music video.

This include many different apparatus for example video camera, tripod, a PC, Blogger, Facebook and finally Sony Vegas.

Without having all these different type of equipment we wouldn’t have been able to produce this music video. Also if we weren't able to access all these different apparatus we would have come across a lot more problems and difficulties.

If we didn’t have Sony vegas this would have been a huge struggle. We wouldn’t have been able to create such nice effects in the editing for example fades and colour balances to ensure the colours were kept consistent throughout the video.

We used social networking to get feedback for other viewers and to make different cut thought the video and Blogger allowed us to organise our work in one place and display it online.

Page 18: Zac Bigley Evaluation tasks 1 - 4

The layering effects in photoshop meant that we were able to create the ‘old paper’ look of the front cover as well as adding detail like the ink blots.

The camera we used was very helpful and was quick and easy to use. Having the camera allowed us to make many adjustments to our video and for it to be easy operate changes. The desktop computers were also good to use because of them being quick and powerful with a good amount of storage.

Without the use of YouTube would of not been able to post the video to the enormous audience. This was also a very good for feedback through the comments on YouTube. The advantage of website like this is anyone in the would will be able to access it and been shown by other people around the world who are interested. Youtube was also useful in the planning stage as many artists upload their work to youtube or similar and we could see a wide range of videos to help us see conventions in different types of video
