General Information• Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.• Classes are open to everyone age 16 and above. • Sixteen and 17 year-olds may enroll with special permission in theBasic Skills/High School Equivalency Diploma Program.

• Registration and fee payment is required at the first scheduledmeeting of the class. Insurance is required for some classes.

• Southeastern also provides on-site job skills training and literacy classes for area businesses and industries.

Financial AssistanceFinancial assistance may be available for students who qualify.

Fee ScheduleThe North Carolina General Assembly has set the following fees for

Workforce Continuing Education Classes:$70 for 0 - 24 Hours of Instruction$125 for 25 - 50 Hours of Instruction$180 for 51 or More Hours of Instruction

Personal InterestAll personal interest classes are self-supporting. People enrolling in

these courses are required to pay registration fees which are based on instructional costs associated with each class.

Registration fees and supply costs associated with classes are subject to change without prior notice.

Method of Payment for Online & Hybrid ClassesFees will be paid by credit or debit card.

RefundsRefunds for Workforce Continuing Education courses are made as follows: 100% if requested before a course begins or if the course is cancelled, 75% if requested after a course begins, but before 10% of the total class meetings. For more information, contact:(910) 788-6350.

Class CancellationSCC’s Workforce & Community Development Division reservesthe right to cancel classes/seminars or workshops due toinsufficient pre-registration and/or enrollment. A course may becancelled if fewer than ten (10) students enroll. Many classesrequire that you are in attendance the first class meeting.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s)Southeastern Community College awards Continuing Education

Units (CEUs) for occupational extension classes. CEUs will beawarded for non-credit courses satisfactorily completed on thebasis of one CEU for each 10 hours of instruction. Fractions of CEUs will be awarded; thus, a 24 hour course will earn the student 2.4 CEUs. CEUs will not be awarded to students who fail to satisfactorily complete a course.

Student TranscriptsStudents enrolling in workforce continuing education courses will have a permanent transcript on file at Southeastern Community College which lists all non-credit training taken through the college.

Nurse Aide RequirementsTo enroll in Nurse Aide courses, there are things you must do before the day of registration. .

1. Obtain an official copy of your high school transcript verifying graduation, OR an official copy of your adult high school diploma, OR high school equivalency diploma.

2. Complete a Reading placement assessment. Any ONE of the following is acceptable: a minimum ACT score of 22 OR a minimum SAT score of 500 OR TABE reading test with minimum scale score of 563 on 11D or 12D test OR CASAS reading test with minimum scale score of 235.

3. Obtain a copy of your immunizations (shots) record.

4. Schedule a physical exam with your regular doctor, health department or urgent care.

5. Social security card, current driver license or picture ID, proof of HS graduation or equivalent, reading placement scores, immunization records, and fees or financial aid letter due at registration.

You will have additional requirements once enrolled in the class.

Nurse Aide I - HybridThis course is designed to prepare graduates to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and other adults. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and state approved Nurse Aide I competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide I with the N.C. Nurse Aide I Registry. Nurse Aide I Refresher - HybridThis course is designed to provide a review of the Nurse Aide I core content to prepare individuals to sit for the Nurse Aide I State Exam. You must meet one of the following requirements in order to enroll in this course:1. Have a current or previous listing on the

NC Nurse Aide I Registry OR an out of state Nurse Aide I Registry within the past five years. Verify your Nurse Aide I listing through the NC Nurse Aide Registry at www.ncnar.org. Pharmacy Technology - HybridThis course is designed to prepare individuals with the theoretical, technical, and clinical skills needed to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, medical equipment and supplies, pharmaceutical care services, and other healthcare products and services for patients. Class format includes lecture, laboratory, and clinical activities. Successful completion prepares individuals for employment as a pharmacy technician in hospitals and pharmacies.
