October is the Month of the Rosary
The Rosary is a
prayer to remind us
that Jesus loved us
so much that he
died on the cross
for us.
The rosary tells the
story of Jesus’ life in
four parts:
The Joyful Mysteries, The Sorrowful
Mysteries , The Glorious Mysteries and
The Luminous Mysteries.
Each night two children from each class
will be able to take home a Rosary bag.
We ask that you spend some &me
looking at the Rosary Book which is in
each bag and then return it to school the
following day.
When we say the rosary we can pray for
world peace.

Reducing the number of lates is one of our post
OFSTED Targets. Punctuality must improve this year.
Do ensure the children are in school before 8.55am. If
parents would like to offer any sugges3ons how we
can eradicate poor punctuality please let me know.
There is a sugges3on box in the
recep3on area. I am hoping this
year we will only have the
occasional late. We cannot begin
our journey to outstanding if we
do not have beer punctuality and
aendance which is consistently
reaching 97%. Mrs D
We have the Learning Buzz at St Leonard's
This week we learnt about Cri3que and Feedback.
When we are learning we generate
success criteria to help us achieve
the learning objec3ve. We can help
each other to become beer
learners when we cri3que the work
and give feedback. We are always
kind, specific and helpful when we
comment on someone else's work.
During our Monday assembly we
watched Aus3n’s Buerfly. (It is on
YouTube) This film is about a young
boy who was helped to improve his
work through the cri3que and
feedback from his class mates. The
video can also be accessed via the Yr3 Blog. Ask your child about Aus3n’s
Buerfly and watch the short film together.
Miss McViQe and Yr3 met an author at the local library. Sunderland AFC
fan Simon Bartram excited the children
when he talked about mul3ple draRs and
the process he goes through to write a
book. His words really inspired the
children.
Simon drew and then signed an amazing
cartoon for us to keep. We hope to invite
Simon in to school at a later date to speak
to other classes about the wri3ng
process.
Thoughts for the week!
