Hi there! Our students from Year -1 to Year-5 have competed “Word

Mania” Literacy Contest with different schools throughout the

world. Literacy planet is Australia's most comprehensive and

engaging online program to develop English literacy skills. Our

students have been provided with an individual User ID and

Password to play at school and home anytime. In practice

session they have built 17718 words and in Round 1-156030

words which show how enthusiastically they learn through

digital technology! Students were not only playing word

building but also were facilitated by Pre Reading, Phonics,

Sight Words, Comprehension, Grammar & Punctuation etc. through this website as per their grade level.

Though AusIS couldn’t stand in the final round leaderboard, it was a good start for us and we hope to do

better in future. We thank the parents who have encouraged their children to play at home and grow the

habit of learning through technology to make them life-long learners!

On 9th November, AusIS primary school students enjoyed a

small yet attractive presentation on ‘Nobanno’, presented by

Year 3. ‘Nobanno’ is also known as ‘New harvest festival’ which

is a very traditional Bangladeshi celebration. It takes place

during the season ‘Hemonto’ (late autumn). Students have

been learning about this festival in their Bangla class. Students

have learnt how farmers get rice, chira, muri and khoi from

paddy. These food items along with some pitha (pies) were

displayed during the presentation. Students recited poems related to this colorful season. The presentation

ended with a beautiful dance performance, performed by the Year 3 students.

Hello everyone, We are almost at the end of Semester 1. The primary school has been busy with learning inside and outside the classroom, inside and outside the school too! Some grade levels have experienced field trips, the rest are planning for their trips. PYP students are making connections between their learning and the real life situation and that is enabling them to take action. Year 3 students have taken action to collect donations for Rohingya refugees and Year 4 students have taken initiative to make the school building a ‘Green Building’. They are bringing plants for the school and are also encouraging others to do so. We appreciate Year 3 and Year 4 learners and teachers for bringing their learning into practice. We have 2 new Assistant Teachers in PYP faculty and have had little internal exchange of teaching staff as follows. Ms Sanjida Rahman- Teacher, Foundation; Ms Nadira Hussain- Teacher, Pre-primary A; Ms Khadiza Rashid Riffat- Assistant Teacher, Pre Primary B; Ms Shamma Sumaiya- Assistant Teacher, Year 4A and Ms Honeyum Maria Shakhi- Asistant Teacher, Year 1A. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in adjusting with the changes. Please note that the ‘PYP Language Policy’ and ‘Assessment and Reporting Policy’ are now available in the school website. Finally, we are thankful to each and every one on the successful completion of Semester 1. Have a joyful and refreshing winter break. Wish to see you all in January, 2018.
