Brief Summary
The General Contractor (GC), E.R. Stuebner: The site contractor continues to prepare work for the new bus loop scheduled to complete this summer. Concrete curbing has been installed.
The proposed parking lot adjacent to the Auditorium is being prepared for paving as storm water connections complete. The new water hydrant, meter pit, and 6” fire protection line from Berks Street to the building is 98% complete, final connection have been
made. Metal roof edge is being installed. The roofing contractor has been working on the final flood coat and gravel getting roof areas to 100%
complete. Phase two of the project includes the new bus loop and the resurfacing of the tennis courts. The tennis court work is on schedule to be complete
for the start of school in August. The interior work, scheduled for completion by the start of school in August, consists of the complete renovation of the old three story building
(Area ‘A’) constructing the new music suite, renovating the locker rooms, wrestling room, training and team room areas as well as renovating 17 classrooms. All of this work is currently underway.
New masonry wall construction for the Phase 2 Instrument Storage, Keyboard Lab, Custodial and IDF Room has completed. The stud wall framing and gypsum wallboard for the walls in Area ‘D’ Music Suite have been completed. The Band, Orchestra & Choral Room ceilings are being installed. The Mechanical mezzanine in Area ‘D’ Music Suite is constructed and the Air Handling Units (AHU’s) have been set. Start-up of these units
is scheduled for the second week in June. Selective demolition in the old three story Area ‘A’ has completed and build back has begun. New stud wall framing in Area ‘A’ is 75% complete. The new classroom partitions in Area ‘A’, third floor, are dry walled and 50% are primed. The added scope involving the remedial floor slab repair work in the old three story Area ‘A’ has completed on the second and third floors.
The Mechanical Contractor (MC), Worth & Company: The new chillers and cooling tower have been installed and the air conditioning is operational in the occupied building. Mechanical demolition of the Phase 2 Boys and Girls Locker Room is 100% complete and mechanical systems rough-in is 80% complete. Selective mechanical demolition in the old three story Area ‘A’ has completed. New mechanical system rough-ins are completed on the second
and third floors. Classroom unit ventilators are being set on the third floor. Mechanical rough-ins on the first floor in the old three story Area ‘A’ are 50%. The Air Handling Units (AHU’s) have been set in place in the Area ‘D’ Music Suite mechanical mezzanine. Ductwork rough-in in Area ‘D’ Music Suite is completed.
The Electrical Contractor (EC), Pagoda Electric: Electrical demolition of the Phase 2 Boys and Girls Locker Room is 100% complete.
Electrical rough-in in the above area is underway and is 85% complete.
Selective electrical demolition in old three story Area ‘A’ has completed. Rough in of new systems has begun and is 70% complete.
Electrical rough-in in the Music Suite is complete.
Light fixtures installation in the old three story Area ‘A’ as well as the Music Suite is currently underway.
Security and life safety installation is on-going throughout the entire building both occupied and unoccupied areas.
The first ever planned shutdown of the Boyertown Area School District’s computer server room is being planned for June. This is necessary to switch out an old electrical transformer with a new one.
The Plumbing Contractor (PC), Apex Plumbing: Plumbing demolition of the Phase 2 Boys and Girls Locker Room is 100% complete and underground rough-in is 98% complete.
Selective plumbing demolition in old three story Area ‘A’ is complete.
Plumbing rough-in in Area ‘A’ third floor has been completed with exception of the roof drains.
Plumbing rough-in in Area ‘A’ second floor is complete.
Plumbing rough-in in Area ‘A’ first floor is 85% complete.
Saw cutting of the first floor concrete slab on grade, required for the installation of the new under floor waste and storm water lines, is complete and the under slab plumbing rough-in (waste & storm water piping) is finally completed. Much rock was encountered slowing the progress of work for the underground plumbing. Stone backfilling has been completed and the first floor concrete backfill is 98% completed.
Fire protection (sprinkler) mains and branch piping installation is 80% complete. Additional sprinkler heads and piping is required to protect the wood roof structure of the 1920’s building (Area ‘A’). This additional work is currently underway.
The Environmental Abatement Contractor, Sargent Enterprises: This contract work has been fully executed and work has been completed.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Due to scheduling delays of BMMA’s sewer replacement along Montgomery Avenue, the bidding date for the Montgomery Avenue Roadway Improvements and Monroe Street Access Drive has been pushed back until July 7, 2016. Notice to proceed is scheduled for August 2, 2016 and substantial completion of the Montgomery Avenue Roadway Improvements is scheduled for November 15, 2016. The Monroe Street Extension/ Access Drive will continue to be used as a construction access until the start of School Last week in August, 2017.
Once again the summer months are approaching rapidly. There is a great deal of work scheduled for the summer months and all of the Prime Contractors are feverishly preparing for the summer work to begin the day the students leave for summer break.

The Montgomery Avenue road widening is scheduled to bid July 7, 2016. The Notice to Procced should be issued
August 2, 2016, allowing BMMA to complete their work on Montgomery Ave prior to BASD's road widening. The
Montgomery Avenue road widening / Monroe Street intersection should be complete November 15, 2016. The
Monroe Street Extension shall continue to be used as a construction access and will not be available for district use
until September 2017 start of school.
