Brief Summary

The General Contractor (GC), E.R. Stuebner: The GC has completed 95% of all Phase 2 & 3 shop drawing and product submittals to the Design Team for review and approval. Site work on the infiltration basins has progressed during the month of November. The Site Contractor has completed basin # 2. Infiltration

basin #1 is Phase 1 site storm and sanitary lines are 98% complete. New Cubs Gym concrete curbs, sidewalk, steps, entrance plaza is complete. The Brick retaining walls are complete at the New Cubs Gym Main Entrance Plaza. The new loading dock and railings are 90%complete, cold weather has prevented the final concrete pour for the loading dock drive.

Phase 1 construction is complete with the exception of punch list items. All of Phase 1 areas have been turned over to BASD and are occupied by students. This includes the New Cubs Gym & Lobby and the new Art Classrooms.

The new Stair Tower #6 in the Cub Gym Lobby is 95% complete with the exception of the terrazzo treads. This stair tower is being used by students to access the New Ceramic Studio from the 500 series Classroom Corridor. Note, this stair tower was scheduled to be complete during Phase 3 and was completed ahead of schedule.

The New Cubs Gym roofing is complete and 40% of the entire building roof is complete with the exception of the metal roof edge. Area ‘K’ (Life Skills & Consumer Sciences) roof membrane is complete with the exception of stone and flood coat which is planned being installed as weather permits. All Roof areas are water tight.

Final “Punch List” work in Area ‘H’ & ‘Phase 1E Area ‘I’ Science Labs and Classrooms continues during non-school hours. And is 98% complete. Phase 2 work has begun per contract schedule January 4, 2016. General demolition in the Phase 2 Cubs Gym Girls locker room is 100% complete. New masonry wall construction for the Phase 2 Instrument Storage, Keyboard Lab, Custodial and IDF Room is 95% complete. General demolition in the Phase 2 Cubs Gym Boys locker room is 95% complete. Selective demolition in Area ‘A’, 9th grade academy (1920’s) building is complete. Final demolition will be completed starting on the third floor

and will follow the Abatement contractor floor by floor. The Auditorium chairs have been removed and distributed to community members who purchased the chairs as a memento or

repurposing. The original wood classroom doors have been removed and distributed to community members for repurposing. These doors could

not be reused based on current building codes. The original classroom wood chalkboard trim has been removed to be refinished and reinstalled around new marker boards.

The Mechanical Contractor (MC), Worth & Company: The MC has completed 95% of all Phase 2 & 3 shop drawing and product submittals to the Design Team for review and approval. HVAC piping installation in the pipe tunnels is 100% complete. Phase 1 mechanical construction is complete with the exception of punch list items. All of Phase 1 areas have been turned over to BASD

and are occupied by students. This includes the New Cubs Gym & Lobby and the new Art Classrooms. Final testing & balancing and final commissioning for the Phase 1 heating, air conditioning & ventilation 98% complete. Final Balancing and

commissioning cannot occur until the entire building mechanical system is complete August/September 2017.

The new chillers have been installed. Mechanical demolition of the Phase 2 Cubs Gym Girls Locker Room is 100% complete. Mechanical rough-in in the above area is 90% complete Mechanical demolition in the Phase 2 Cubs Gym Boys locker room is 94% complete. Mechanical rough-in in the above area has begun. Selective mechanical demolition in Area ‘A’, 9th grade academy (1920’s) building is complete. Final demolition will be completed once the

environmental abatement is complete floor by floor.

The Electrical Contractor (EC), Pagoda Electric: The EC has completed 95% of all Phase 2 & 3 shop drawing and product submittals to the Design Team for review and approval.

Phase 1 electrical construction is complete with the exception of punch list items. All of Phase 1 areas have been turned over to BASD and are occupied by students. This includes the New Cubs Gym & Lobby and the new Art Classrooms.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

PROJECT PROGRESS

The phase 1 construction has been completed and turned over to BASD. The Phase 1 areas include the Science Classrooms, Lab Classrooms, STEM Labs, Family Consumer Science Classrooms, and Life Skills Classrooms, all turned over to BASD in September 2015 per contract schedule. The remaining Phase 1 construction including the new Cubs Gymnasium & Lobby, five new Art Classrooms with support spaces, Boiler Room, and Mechanical Room were turned over to BASD January 4, 2015 per contract schedule

On December 28 & 29 BASD hosted a basketball tournament utilizing the new Cubs Gymnasium and the Existing Bears Gymnasium.

The existing Bears Gym Floor has been sanded and refinished and the Gymnasium is currently being used. The

New Cubs Gym hosted a Basketball Tournament on December 28 & 29, 2015. The gymnasium has been turned over to

the district.
