Your welcoming spirit and loving envelopment of us into your community has had the eect of the Samaritan’s caringly “pouring on oil and wine.” He obviously knew he was dealing with a victim, which makes your care for us even more remarkable, as many of you did not know you were dealing with a couple of fellow believers in need of special care. Still, you made sure of our well-being! Thank you for inviting us to serve with you this past year. The beaten man in the parable probably never met the Samaritan. What a blessing it has been for us to get to know you, all of you! For us, this is just one more example of the wonderful time we have together whenever heaven happens. (Note that winners’ names will not be web- published.) Perhaps the most powerful aspect of Jesus’ parable “The Good Samaritan” is the plight of the beaten man. No one needing help, no story. Eighteen months ago my wife Pat and I we were beaten down by doors closing to our ministry efforts in Palestine. Direction that seemed so clear took a U-turn due to the denial of our requests for permanent visas. Wounded spiritually and emotionally, our road ahead was frustratingly unclear.

You cannot know what a blessing you have been to us through these last twelve months! Your welcoming spirit and loving envelopment of us into your community has had the effect of the Samaritan’s caringly “pouring on oil and wine.” He obviously knew he was dealing with a victim, which makes your care for us even more remarkable, as many of you did not know you were dealing with a couple of fellow believers in need of special care.

Instead of saying “good-bye,” let us simply remind each other of Jesus’ last words in the parable, “Go and do likewise.”

SJCS Endowment Scholarships Winners The winners of the SJCS Endowment scholarships have been chosen and will be announced next week Monday, June 1 at the Middle School Awards ceremony and in Tiger Tracks that same day. (Note that winners’ names will not be web-published.)

Our nominees demonstrate SJCS core values like “Love Does” and Intentional Christian Community, educational values like collaboration, creativity, citizenship and throughlines and for adults, volunteerism. All students can aspire to these scholarships because the criteria are value-based, not ability-based.

Moms In Prayer The last prayer meeting of the school year will be this Thursday at 8:30am in the SJCS Library. We want to thank this wonderful group of prayer warriors for lifting up our teachers, students, community, campus and requests to our Lord over this past year. May God continue to hear our prayers.

Final Scrip order of the school year Be sure to place your scrip order this week. Orders must be submitted by Thursday at 3pm. You will be able to pick up your orders next week in the school office.

Tiger Cubs|Preschool Info ArticlePreschool Assessments

Mrs. Leonard has worked very hard this year on completing assessments for the Preschool students. She completed the first round of assessments in the fall, and the second was just completed this month.

We hope that this can be a tool for seeing the tremendous growth of each student over the course of the school year. Anything that was included in the assessment will be set home with a brief overview.

Please see this week's Teacher Tales for even more details!

Teacher Tales Spotlight on Preschool - Laura Leonard Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things on the campus of San Jose Christian School.

Our preschool is wonderful! It has been a solid year of positive change and growth, and we have had many new teachers join us. With an increased focus on collaboration and communication with parents, we have also had many quality enhancements to our program.

Mrs. Leonard (mother of Austin and Griffin) joined our preschool staff this year, and her expertise and experience have added greatly to our preschool program. In addition to teaching music to all of our preschool students, Mrs. Leonard is also our developmental assessment examiner. She meets individually with each preschool student multiple times throughout the year, testing for developmental milestones and growth. The assessments help give an individualized picture of each child’s learning in a wide variety of areas (letters and numbers; color, shapes, and pattern recognition; verbal fluency; fine and gross motor skills; etc.).

Currently, Mrs. Leonard is preparing packets for each of the families of our preschool students, showing the progress they have made over the course of the year. The packet will share the results of various assessments and will focus on celebrating growth and giving suggestions for what to work on over the summer. These efforts (and Mrs. Leonard) have been excellent additions to our school, and we are proud of all of the remarkable things happening in our preschool!
