Chapter

1Introduction

TIBCO LogLogic® Visual Analytics (LLVA) provides analytic solutions using the TIBCO Spotfire® productintegrated with the TIBCO LogLogic Log Management Intelligence (LMI) based Data Analytic products.

Topics

• TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Overview• TIBCO LogLogic Visualization Application Report Templates

TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Overview

The TIBCO LogLogic Analytics solution pulls log data collected by a LMI Appliance into a Microsoft SQLServer. Analytics can then be performed on the data through TIBCO Spotfire.

As shown below a minimum deployment requires two machines; one for the LMI appliance and onewindows machine installed with data mart/ETL and Spotfire. A typical deployment is shown below.

At a glance TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics provides:

• Dimension-Free Exploration — Interactively visualize data without requiring predefined dimensionsor constraints. In-memory data engine and "Data on Demand" capability uniquely enable users todynamically filter and drill down to micro-level details.

• Data mashups — Quickly combine many data sources without custom scripting and dynamically inserttables, rows, and columns into a single visual analysis -- all without IT support. Unique Data on Demandcapability enables users to interactively mash up or swap massive data sets to uncover insights maskedby data silos or aggregations.

• Contextual Collaboration — Instantly capture and securely share moments of insight across internaland external teams to drive collaborative decisions. Publish insights through collaborative bookmarks, guided analytic apps, corporate portals and social platforms to provide visually compelling context toaccelerate decision making processes.

BENEFITS

• Fastest to Actionable Insight — Instantly turn insight into action by enabling anyone to rapidly discoverhidden insights in your Machine Big Data and to quickly collaborate on those opportunities.

• Visibility into the Unknown — Discover unexpected insights hidden in your Machine Big Data and Real-Time Events to immediately identify strategic business opportunities or threats.

• Self-Service Discovery — Freely explore Machine Big Data to any level of detail, radically acceleratingdecision making and threat analysis, while dramatically reducing dependence on IT.

• Universal Adaptability — Leverage LogLogic Analytics' data discovery platform with data enrichment toempower anyone, anywhere, to make insightful decisions on Machine Big Data in context.

How TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Supports LMI Data

LMI collects data from various sources and places the parsed data into files, which are bulk inserted intothe relevant MySQL tables. LLVA can subscribe to these files and pull them periodically via sftp into thedata mart. Once a file has been successfully pulled in it is inserted into a MS-SQL table. Which TIBCOSpotfire reports can access to run visual analytics via TIBCO Spotfire's professional editor or via their Webreports.

TIBCO LogLogic Visualization Application ReportTemplates

LLVA 2.0.0 provides the following pre-configured Visualization Report Templates for Spotfire:

• Windows Events — displays Windows event information served during a specified time interval• User Access — displays data access and changes made to data during a specified time interval• User Authentication — displays identity and access related events during a specified time interval• Permission Modification — displays events related to permission modifications performed on user and

server objects• User Created/Deleted — displays user creation and deletion events• User Last Activity — displays user specific details and used to track user activity during a specified time

interval• File Access — displays individual file and directory events

Uninstalling TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics

1. Log in as Local Administrator.

2. From Start > Program Files > TIBCO > LogLogic Visual Analytics > Uninstaller > selectUninstaller.

3. From the Uninstall Analytics screen, click Uninstall.

4. Click Done to close the window.

5. Some files will not be removed, you will need to manually remove the following files:

– C:\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\data– C:\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\conf– C:\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\logs

Creating and Configuring the TIBCO LMI Database

Create a new account on your LMI which will be used by the LLVA to access data.

1. As root connect to your LMI using SSH.

2. Configure a new account:>system data_client add <name>

3. Enter a password.

4. Confirm the password.

5. Exit.

Creating and Configuring the TIBCO LLVA Database

Install TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics first.

The SA account provided must have full SA privilege to the MASTER and MSDB databases.

The SQL Agent is required and must be running prior to creating the database.

1. Select C:\Program Files\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\conf\database\mssql.

2. Open the create_llva_databases.bat file with a text editor.

3. Edit the following GLOBAL local environment variables:

– DBINSTANCE=<server>\LOGLOGIC– DBFILEPATH_CONFIG=<DATA_FILE_PATH>

– DBADMINNAME=sa– DBADMINPASSWORD=<ADMINPASSWORD>– SERVERDB_PASSWORD=<SERVERDB_PASSWORD>– PRIDBFILEPATH_RPT=<DATA_FILE_PATH>

4. To enable partitioning edit the following:

Page 22: TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Installation Guide · decision making and threat analysis, while dramatically reducing dependence on IT. • Universal Adaptability — Leverage LogLogic

TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Data Integration Tool | 22

Visual Analytics

– Set the PARTITION value to 1 (enabled).– Enter the file path for Even Weeks– Enter file path for Odd Weeks

Partitioning is only supported by MS SQL Server Enterprise and is a performanceoptimization for LLVA's database. This option should be considered when processing largeamounts of data.

5. Once configured Save your changes.

6. Double-click the create_llva_databases.bat file.

7. Open a CMD prompt and go to c:\Program Files\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\bin.

8. Run the configure-llva dbconfig comand. This will install the database objects.

You will need to use the loglogic user and password created in create_llva_databases.bat.

For example: configure-llva dbconfig -u loglogic -p firevue -P 1069 -t.

9. Wait a few minutes and then check that the logappconfig and logapprtrpt databases have been createdsuccessfully before going to the next step.

10.Use tibco-llva restart command to restart the LLVA service. The LLVA can now be configured.

TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Data Integration Tool

This section describes how to configure and run the TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Data Integration tool.

Configuring the TIBCO LogLogic Visual Analytics Data Integration Tool

The following steps describe how to configure LLVA to talk to the LMI.

1. Select Start>Command Prompt Command .

2. In the command window cd to your LogLogic Visual Analytics bin file. For example: C:\Program Files\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\bin

3. Use the configure-llva create command to configure the following:

• -h <host name> — this is the LMI IP address or FQDN• -u<user> — the LMI account user• -p<password> — LMI password• -r<report tables>

For Example: C:\Program Files\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\bin>configure-llva create -h10.20.30.86 -u llvauser1 -p llvaapp -r "Authentication,IDSLOG"

4. Select Enter.

5. Use the following command to view your selections:C:\Program Files\TIBCO\LogLogic Visual Analytics\bin>configure-llva list and select Enter. The following is an example of the result that would be returned:

id=lmi-1 type=lmi enable=true hostName=10.20.30.86 userName=llvauser1 configTables=null

reportTables=Authentication,IDSLOG

The LMI id can be used to update, remove, disable this connection. Please refer to Configure LLVACommands on page 23 for a detailed list of all the actions that can be taken using configure-llvacommand.
