Ascension of the LordPope Francis said, “Every Sunday, we should leave our churches to go during the week into houses, offices, schools, places of meetings and entertainments, into hospitals, pris-ons, retirement homes, the places packed with immigrants, the peripheries of cities.” He said, “This is the testimony we have to take every week: Christ is with us. Jesus ascended into Heaven but he is with us. Christ is alive!”

Every Sunday we are called to take Jesus in Holy Com-munion and be disciples who then take the good news out and share this love and knowledge of Our Risen Lord!May we find ways to do this in His name.

Amen? Amen!

Prayer to the Mother of the Lord for all MothersMary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you. We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great

gift of motherhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother, thank you for your “Yes” to the invitation of the angel, which brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You opened yourself to God’s word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Dear mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Divine Son to give them the grace of surrendered love so that they could join with you in giving their own “Fiat.” May they find daily strength to say yes to the call to sacrificial love--the very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love and witness be a source of great

inspiration for all of us called to follow your Son.

On this Mother’s Day, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us who have recourse to you. Amen.

We have confessions every weekday at St. Cecilia following the 9 AM Mass.

“Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin, all hope consists in confession; in

confession there is a chance for mercy.” - St. Isidore of Seville

Credo (I Believe)What Is Truth?

God is truth. God’s truth is that God is pure love; God lives

in love; God wills love. God’s nature is love and, because of

God’s nature, God loves you totally and irrevocably. No effort

of yours can make God love you more and no choice of yours

can make God love you less. God already loves you uncondi-

tionally because that’s who God is! God’s love for you

depends on God’s nature; it does not depend on you. God’s

love is not reactionary or changeable or conditional.

God’s truth is revealed in the Scriptures and the person

of Jesus. God’s truth is explained in the teachings of the

Catholic Church. It is summarized in the Catechism of the

Catholic Church. The lives of holy men and women witness

to God’s truth and truth resonates in the souls of all people of

good conscience. God’s truth is that God is imminent (near

you and within you) and God is transcendent (above you and

beyond you).

A Gospel Reflection by Father Jason Williams

MATTHEW 28 :20b

“Behold, I am with you always.”

It seems like a mistake that our Lord should promise his unending presence with his disciples at the very moment he is leaving them to be with his Father, yet it is no mistake. He remained alive and present with them, just as he lives among us still today. In the midst of centuries of human innovation and discovery, in the eras of conquest and growth that have punctuated history since our Lord completed the work he came to accomplish, he has remained faithful in his pursuit to bring all of us to eternal communion with him and his Father.

His human presence resides in its glorified state with the Father; humanity and divinity are restored to perfect union in the ascended Christ. However, the ever-living Word of God remains very near to us indeed. The Word who became flesh and dwelt among us continually invites each human soul to dialogue. It is through this divine encounter that we hear God speaking to us, encouraging us, and reminding us of all that he has done for us. As the Word calls us to be where he is, he also forms us and sends us forth with the task of bringing others to know him as well. The Lord lives with us in order to love through us. What an excellent opportunity we have today to renew our desire to be more closely attuned to God’s presence in our lives and to respond to that presence with generous fidelity to his compassionate, loving will!

Pensamientos EvangélicosEl Señor vive con nosotros para amar a través de nosotros.

Our parish is hosting a summer program called TOTUS TUUS, which means “Totally Yours.” Totus Tuus is a fun and energetic

parish based summer catechetical program for both grade school age children and middle and high school youth. Totus Tuus

gathers together college students and seminarians from across the United States onto teaching teams of four in order to train them

and send them out on the road to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. The teachers’ youthfulness, energy, and ability to witness

to the faith make them particularly effective with children and young adults. Totus Tuus will be taking place from June 10-15.

Please register your children entering grades 1-12 for this great catechetical opportunity to enrich their faith and relationship

with God. As parents, we are called to provide for the physical and spiritual needs of our children. The gift of faith is one of the

greatest gifts that you can give and foster within your children. Our prayer is that you will continue to foster that gift of faith

through the Sacraments and educational opportunities for your family.

Totus Tuus will be taking place from Sun., June 10, thru Fri., June 15. The program for students entering grades 1-6 will be

Mon.-Fri., from 9 AM-2:30 PM. The program for teens entering grades 7-12 will be Sun.-Thurs., from 7-9 PM. The cost is $25 per

student (family maximum of $75). Please register by June 6 by visiting our parish website or contacting Cody Egner at (513)

871-5757, ext. 215, or [email protected].

Please consider supporting us as we host this program by providing snacks for the week, hosting the team of missionaries

for a meal, providing lunch for the team of missionaries at the parish, making a financial donation to offset the program cost,

or opening your home for two men or two women to stay with you for the week while they minister to our youth. To sign up to

help in any way, please contact Cody Egner at (513) 871-5757, ext. 215, or [email protected].

We had a wonderful First Communion Mass on April 29. Our schoolchildren and PREP students were prepared

and joyful to receive Eucharist. Fr. Jason presided over the Mass. A big thank-you to Cody Egner, Elizabeth

Pearson, Sarah Rose Sperduto, Grace Smith, and Kristina Maggio for preparing the children for this special day.

Deacons: Ministers of Service (Part 6 of 10) Sacraments and Other Rituals Outside of the MassDeacons can preside at celebration of the sacraments of baptism

and marriage. They cannot celebrate Mass, but they preside at

celebrations of the Eucharist outside of Mass, for example, expo-

sition and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Deacons can-

not hear confessions or anoint the sick, but are often involved in

visitations and communion to the sick, as well as giving Viati-

cum (final reception of communion before death). Deacons can

also lead Rites of Christian Burial apart from Mass, e.g. prayers

at a visitation, memorial service and cemetery burials.

There are also many unique liturgical (and particularly,

singing!) roles proper to a deacon. For instance, the singing of

“Lumen Christi” as he carries the Easter candle into the dark-

ened church at the Vigil Mass. Also, deacons retain their ancient

privilege of singing the Paschal Proclamation, the Exsultet and

chanting the solemn petitions at the Good Friday liturgy. Dea-

cons are also preferred for chanting the Roman Martyrology (at

Christmas Mass at Midnight) and the Epiphany proclamation.

Having promised to pray the Divine Office daily, it is most

appropriate that a deacon preside at communal celebrations

of the Liturgy of the Hours, especially Morning (Lauds) and

Evening (Vespers) when a priest does not preside (for instance,

Third Thursday Vespers with the Brotherhood).

St. Vincent de Paul Run for the Poor The St. Martin District Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will hold its 26th annual Run for the Poor fundraising event this year on Saturday, June 9. The 5K race and fitness walk is a timed event that features trophies and awards for winners in many classes, and over 100 door prizes that go to many lucky participants. The race begins at 9 AM with the start and finish located on the spacious grounds of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, located in Goshen in Cler-mont County. The race route is flat and scenic with a large portion of the race circuit winding its way through wooded areas of Miami Meadows Park. More Run for the Poor info is available at www.runforthepoor.org and discounted pre-race registration can be done online at www.racedmc.com or by calling 513-474-1399.

Need a little spiritual pick-me-up in the middle of the week? Join us for our 6:45 AM Mass every Wednesday. Then head to the Madison Diner with us for breakfast. It’s a nice crowd and great food.

Adoration. Every Wednesday beginning at

9:30 AM and concluding with HOLY HOUR, 7-8 PM.
