NEW MID-SIZE BUS NEEDED

Newnan FUMC owns and operates three vehicles of different sizes for various church trips. After 16 years of operation, the time has come to replace “The Middle Bus” as it is commonly

called. It has become increasingly costly to operate this 22 passenger bus because it needs frequent repairs. The

Transportation Committee is looking to purchase a new 2015 bus with 25 passenger capacity. The cost is $57,500 plus tax.

As of today: $47,870 (83% of goal raised!)

Please help us reach our goal before the Youth Choir leaves to go on their annual choir tour in late May. Make sure to indicate

“bus fund” in the memo/for line of your checks.

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL

“When should my child move up a class?”

The new “church program year” begins with Promotion Sunday each August. Please wait until Promotion Sunday to move your child

into a new Sunday School class, choir, nursery, JAM, VBS group, etc.

We follow the same “September 1st” guideline as our Preschool: the age (or grade) your

child is on September 1st will determine which class they will be in for that church year

(August – July).

Following this policy helps our Children’s Ministry leaders get to know your child

throughout the year. We can also better plan our lessons and activities since we will have a

consistent class roster rather than having children move from one class to the next at random times throughout the entire year.

If you have any questions about your child’s placement, please contact Ashley Johnson,

Children’s Minister ([email protected]).

VBS 2015

“Camp Discovery” will be from Monday, June 8 to Thursday, June 11 (9a – 12:30p)

Registration ($10) is now open!

Register by: 1) Visiting the website and clicking

“registrations” under “calendar” 2) Mailing in a check (Attn: Ashley Johnson |

33 Greenville St. | Newnan, GA 30263) 3) Registration boxes found throughout the

church.

Please make checks payable to Newnan FUMC and register early! Classes are grouped

by age/grade and class size is limited! Pre-registration will end Sunday, May 31st.

FAMILY MISSION PROJECT

Sunday, April 19 | 3 – 5 p.m. | Parish Hall

How can our children be involved in the ongoing Habitat Faith Build since they don’t

meet the construction age requirement? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE!

All children (and interested adults) are invited to help as we prepare flower planters and

wreaths for our Habitat Faith Build house and the other houses on the block.

We will deliver the planters and wreaths prior to the Habitat House Blessing. More details

coming soon about the Blessing.

HOLY WEEK DRAMA

On Sunday, March 29, the 4th and 5th grade classes, led by Beth Royal and Bill Mason,

reenacted Jesus' last hours before His crucifixion. We began in the Upper Room with

Jesus (played by Jack Terrell) and His disciples. After the supper, they went to the Garden of

Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed and his disciples slept. Soon, Judas (played by Luke Cliett) came with soldiers (played by Robert Ward and Cole Kirkland). Peter (played by

Matthew Morenzi) got his ear cut off by one of the soldiers. Jesus was led to Herod's Court.

(Herod was played by Ella Stanford). The trial ensued with false witnesses and the crowd

shouting "CRUCIFY HIM!" Fortunately, we ran out of time and Jack/Jesus was unharmed in

this telling (picture on p. 5).

THANK YOU TO THE DAVISES

A special “Thank You!” to Faye & Alex Davis for letting the church use their property for this

year’s Easter Egg hunt! It was a blast! (pictures on p. 5)
