It is little wonder that Lena would choose to insure that a library would be there for future generations. At the tender age of six, she walked into her local public library and took out her first book, a fairy story. Later that day she returned, having devoured the book, and was looking for more, only to find that she was only allowed to take one book a day. Reading was something Lena could not do without. Later on she would become a librarian herself, working in the University of New Hampshire’s libraries for twelve years. In her own community, she served a term as Trustee of he Weeks Public Library, and would eventually see her daughter Bonnie head up this library as its Director. To honor that gift, the library will name the local history and genealogy room in the new library for Lena, a long standing member of the Greenland Historical Society, and a genealogist in her own right.
