01. Welcome Pack

Welcome to the Nerf Junior Premier League 2016-2017 season Welcome Pack. I hope that we can, through this document, help you in your forthcoming season in the Nerf Junior Premier League.

This Welcome Pack will guide you through the whole process of registering with the JPL, from the dedicated purpose built administration system through to who to contact in the event of any issues you may have during the season.

We do actively encourage all feedback from you and in this handbook you will find contact details for people to contact should you have anything to feedback on – please do this as by working together we can make things better for all involved.

The administration site and website have been rebuilt for this season all with the purpose of making managing your club/team as easy and intuitive as possible with the minimum of hassle as we want to make the season pleasurable for the officials and coaches at the clubs as well as the players. Before the start of the season, we will issue a Club Handbook that contains all of the necessary information to use the system and get the best out of the season.

As always we are hoping for a season filled with fun and development as the priorities. Yes we have competitive matches but going for a win at all costs is always discouraged. We want players to enjoy the experience of playing for your club in this league and for them to fall in love with this great game.

So we ask you all that you remember that all players must play 50% of each match they attend and that you never have a squad so large that players do not get games to express themselves within. Please encourage a great learning environment that values creativity and mistakes as part of the journey to becoming the best footballer possible.

Please also as a club/coach/manager, do remind your parents of their responsibilities towards the teams they are watching and that adherence to the code of conduct, that is attached to the registration form, is mandatory. Let’s encourage the parents to support positively, quietly, never aggressively and most of all to enjoy watching their children play this great game.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible this season and wish you all the best for itYours in football,

Martin BrockLeague Chairman

03. Welcome Pack

The JPL’s sole purpose is to provide an opportunity for our players to experience a high quality program of developmental and competitive football. Football and all other sports in which children become involved, enable our youth to experience many important lessons which will help form their adult lives.

The adults involved, whether as spectators or coaches, have a critical role in assuring that these experiences for our youth are positive and appropriate. To this end, the Junior Premier League believes that the standards of behaviour detailed in our Code of Conduct for players, parents, and coaches are essential to our goals and represent a minimum standard that should be adhered to at all times.

You will have received the JPL Code of Conduct in conjunction with this Welcome Pack – please take time to read and pass it on to all involved.

Code of Conduct

This year we have a brand new, purpose built administration site. We hope that you find it easy and intuitive to use. If you have any issues at all, please contact [email protected]

The process will be different to the system we’ve had in the past and we appreciate that it will take some time to get used to. There are 3 stages to Registration which we suggest are completed in this order:

Club Registration – for Club Secretaries – enter all your details about your club, personnel, venues, kit colours (you can have more than one person with these access rights)

Team Management – for Coaches and Team Admin

Player Registration – for Coaches and Team Admin – enter all player data here and upload images, forms, id documents

Once you get used to the new site, you will notice that all the pages follow the same format. You must press “Save” to save your details before moving to the next screen, either by pressing “Next” or by clicking on the arrows at the top.

Along with this Welcome Pack, you should have received a link to allow you to access the admin site. Your user name is your email address and you will be asked to create a password.

Once you have logged in, you should see your Club Name appear in the top left corner. And you can begin to add your club details – make sure you “Save Details” on each page. You can then progress by clicking “Next” at the bottom of the page or clicking the arrows at the top.

You can then continue to register your Club Secretary and Junior Secretary (optional).

Coaches are then added (these are assigned to teams at a later point in the process). Note that ideally we would like 2 coaches per team – you can create additional coaches by clicking on the “Create additional Coach” button at the bottom of the page.

The process is then the same for Team Administrators and the Child Welfare Officer.

You should now have added all personnel associated with your Club (regardless of team).

Kit colour can be selected in two ways – either by picking from the “Quick Picker” list, or, if your colours aren’t there, type a description in the box. (Note – if some of your teams have different colours, enter the most common here – individual teams can amend their colours later.)

Add in your main venue and an alternative (if available). Please give as much detail about the venues as possible as in future, this information will form part of the match day process. Any data here will be visible to all teams.

You can now create the teams which will play for your club this season and assign a Team Admin and Coaches to each. (These can be changed at a later date.) Keep adding your teams by clicking on the “Create additional Team” button at the bottom of the page. When you are finished, don’t forget to save details. You have now completed your Club Registration!

Underneath the team name in the top left hand corner, click on the “Select Team” dropdown and select a Team (note – only those Teams that have been created by the Club Secretary will appear in this list).

You can then check or amend the Team details by following the arrows at the top and finally, add a Team photo.

Repeat this process for each Team.

You are now ready to add players to your Teams.

Click on “Players” in the middle at the top, and then “Add Player”.

Answer the “Has this player played in the JPL before?” question and then add the details required and click “Create Player”. Continue to add player details and their responsible adult details.

You can then assign the player to a team and give them a shirt number. If the team you require is not listed in the dropdown, your Secretary hasn’t created it yet. If it’s available but you can’t select it, please check the player’s date of birth as only age appropriate teams will be available to select.

Finally, in “Uploads” you can upload the player ID (if new to the JPL), the player photo and the signed Player Registration Form.

To view a list of Players assigned against Teams, click on “Players” and “View Players”. You can also edit player details by double clicking on any player in the lists.

At the JPL, we pride ourselves on striving to raise the bar and improve the quality of the League – not only in terms of football, but also in how we provide a service to you as Clubs.

If you have any feedback on any aspect of this document, the new admin site or suggestions for how we can do things better, please get in touch on: [email protected]

At the JPL we take the privacy of your personnel and players very seriously – you can find our Privacy Policy from the JPL home page.

My login doesn’t work? Please contact [email protected] and we’ll get you back on track right away.

Where’s all the data gone from the old admin site?Don’t worry – it’s still there and will be linked back to players before the start of the season.

I need to add more personnel but the system won’t let me?We’ve put some restrictions in place to prevent the number of personnel becoming unmanageable – please contact [email protected] and we can take a look.

Why do I have to add a new photo for all of my players? We have some exciting opportunities coming this season that may need an up to date photo of the players. We promise not to ask you again next year.

Things aren’t displaying properly on my screen? We find that things look best in Google Chrome but we don’t want there to be any issues in other browsers, so please contact [email protected] and we’ll take a look.

FAQs

I want to give you some feedback – how do I do this?We love the opportunity to improve – or to hear that you’re really happy! You can send feedback to [email protected] and we’ll get right back to you.

How do I see the fixtures? We’re currently working behind the scenes on the fixtures. We’ll tell you how to view them in the Club Handbook once this is released.

How do I see the player stats? At the moment we’re hooking up the data from the old system to the new one. As soon as this is ready, you and your players will be able to see the info on the homepage.

When will the full handbook be available? We anticipate everything being in place by the first week or so of August – in plenty of time for the new season. If you have any queries in the meantime, please get in touch with the appropriate person on the contact list earlier in this pack.

I just need some help with the new system – who can I speak to?Drop us a line on [email protected] and someone will call you back at a time convenient to you.
