    THE KIA OVAL’S

  • In August 2015, we laid out plans to continue the modernisation of The Kia Oval by introducing the One Oval Square development and rebuilding the Peter May and Lock Laker Stands.

The demolition of the Lock Laker Stand began in the final weeks of the 2019 season and I am thrilled that by Spring 2021, this exciting project will be complete for Members of Surrey County Cricket Club to experience.

With consistent sell-out T20 fixtures and International matches at The Kia Oval, as well as a growing Membership, this new development will increase the ground’s capacity to nearly 28,000.

Members are central to the decisions that we take at Surrey County Cricket Club, and we are proud to offer world-class facilities within the new stand including a pitch-facing Members restaurant. I look forward to welcoming all Members back to the ground next summer, and enjoying our new stand together.

The Lock Laker Stand will be transformed to increase the ground’s capacity to 28,000.

The Peter May and Tony Lock stands were demolished, to be replaced by a single new and much larger stand named after Peter May.

Australia defeat England at The Oval for the first time on British soil, leading The Sporting Times to declare the death of English cricket and beginning what would become known as ‘The Ashes’.
