PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Parish is a people of living faith rooted in the

Gospel, centered on the Eucharist and led by the Holy Spirit. We are inspired by the example of Mary to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by ministering to all.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. Because it is a Solemnity in Ordinary Time, this feast takes precedence even over the twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Let us thank Our Blessed Virgin Mother for all she does for us, interceding for all our needs in Heaven. Happy Feast Day, O Mary assumed into Heaven!

SISTER MARY EDMOND’S VOWS Last weekend, on the Feast of the Transfiguration, the daughter of Deacon Bob and Karen Morrow, Markley Morrow took her first vows as a Dominican Sister of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. Taking the name of Sister Mary Edmund after the English martyr, Edmund Campion, she will offer herself in a martyrdom of love for many years to come. Her joy was intense as a new bride of Christ and she radiated Christ’s love to all there attending. Even the Oprah Winfrey crew was interviewing the newly-professed Sisters for a possible show in the months ahead. Keep an eye out for this program on the Dominican Sisters, for it will surely be moving. Congratulations Sister Mary Edmund and all the Morrow Family!

PRAYER GARDEN

The beautiful statue of Jesus Christ has arrived from Italy and now graces our new prayer garden! This marble statue of Jesus Christ will be an inspiration for years to come. If you need a place to calm a little child during Mass or simply want to make a prayerful visit during the day or in the evening, you will find this to be a perfect setting for peaceful meditation. For a memorial donation of $1,000 or more, we will add your name to a plaque to be dedicated in the vestibule of our church. We are also still accepting gifts of $1,000 or more for the Fountain of Living Waters, which will also be memorialized in the vestibule. Thanks to all who are donating to these final projects commemorating Annunciation’s 50th anniversary.

COLLECTION FOR THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR The Little Sisters of the Poor will speak at all the Masses next weekend and will take up a collection for the support of their work among the elderly poor. The Little Sisters conduct the center for the aging in Gallup located at 1900 Mark Avenue. For over 25 years the Little Sisters have been caring for the needy elderly, providing them with a home, nursing care, and above all, love and respect, which is so important. Any help you may be able to give them will be deeply appreciated.
