CO-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS :

Physical Research Laboratory

As Aristotle believed, to bring any change we must train young minds. So was the idea for this

competition and we got an overwhelming response. On 27th June 2015, Physical Research Laboratory,

Ahmedabad organized a Poster Making Competition for the budding scientist. Three of our students

from classes 11th

and 12th participated with great enthusiasm. They exhibited their talent through their

art work. The theme for the competition was “Nano Technology”. The students expressed their ideas

through colour and form, accompanied with relative captions and slogans. Master Nikhil Unnikrishnan

bagged I position among 13 schools and made use proud.

Celebrating Sanskrit Week

Sanskrit is considered the mother of all other languages. To encourage the young scholars and to

highlight the significance of the most ancient language, Somnath Sanskrit University organized Sanskrit

Week in the first week of September. Around 100 students from various schools of Somnath region

tested their literary ability through numerous competitions such as essay writing, storytelling,

extempore, speeches and drawing. It was ABPS that lifted the Overall Trophy by grabbing 1st Position in

5 competitions and 2nd

position in one.

Art Competition

A drawing competition „Youth Festival-2015, was organized by Gujarat Government in the month of

August. The students of Std. X exhibited their talents using crayons and water colours. It was a day

where everybody saw creativity exploding in every piece of art. Once again The ABPS marked its

thumping victory and grabbed the champion‟s trophy by securing first position in – Art, Handmade

Crafts, Bharatanatyam and second and third position in Essay Writing and Elocution. The competition

not only served its purpose but also gave a platform to display the vivid ideas of budding artists.

WORKSHOPS AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES :

At ABPS , we strive to achieve academic excellence by providing a congenial learning environment that

goes beyond the realms of textbooks and classrooms by using different strategies of learning thus

making teaching and learning more meaningful. Keeping this in mind various enrichment programs are

designed for our teachers. The teachers regularly attend workshops and have been immensely benefitted

by it.

Career guidance & Counselling centre

The ABPS initiated its Career Counselling Programme for the students of Class XI and XII. It was

highly informative and covered a wide spectrum of career options, conducted by Mr. Satyendra Singh &

Mr. Kirti Upadhyay. After a brief introduction by Mr. Kirti Upadhyay, Mr. Satyendra Singh focused on

various issues related to admissions, including new careers and choice of colleges. He also addressed

some of the major concerns of the students, including the cut-off and cut-throat competition for much-

coveted branded colleges. Principal too emphasised on an intensive and inter-disciplinary approach to

academics through extensive reading and adopting a disciplined approach to life. In the second session,

the students were exposed to a wide range of career options including vocational and off-beat careers.

This was followed by an interactive session with the students.

Leadership Workshop

The much anticipated and valued Leadership workshop was attended by one of our senior teachers

(Mr. Kirti Upadhyay) at Gyanodaya Mumbai. It was organized by the ABG and conducted under the

able guidance of Dr. S. Ganguli (C.E.O. ABGS). The workshop was enlightening and was a great

learning experience as the resource persons showered their expertise with day to day examples. The

environment at Gyanodaya was overwhelming and the facilities were luxurious. All the Vice-Principals

and the senior teachers attending the workshop got an opportunity to interact with Dr. Santrupt Mishra

through video conference. The two day workshop was very successful to hone leadership skills.

CELEBRATIONS :

The rich and vibrant festivals of India are a testimony to our diverse tradition and culture and the ABPS

celebrates the important events and festivals with great fanfare and immense respect.

Earth Day

In our endeavour to instil an ongoing concern for our Mother Earth, multifarious activities such as tree

plantation, poster making were organised on the occasion of Earth Day. The activities were made

innovative so that the enthusiasm would be abundant! As a curtain raiser on 22nd

April, the students

accompanied by their teachers and Indian Rayon Officials assembled at the ABPS and expressed their

concern for mother earth by planting trees.

Labour Day

To commemorate the Labour Day and to appreciate the selfless service of the Support Staff, who work

with full dedication and ensure the hygiene and security of school, The ABPS, Veraval celebrated

Labour Day. The programme began with the auspicious Lighting of The Lamp and then a brief

introduction of each support staff was given with their significant role in school and that made them feel

special. There were few mellifluous songs by the teachers and a speech depicting the role and

importance of a worker in school, as well in society.

Principal appreciated their job and also expressed her gratitude for their selfless contribution to the

institution. They were presented gifts as a token of gratitude by the School Management.

Scholastic Book Fair

Every year the school organizes “Scholastic Book Fair” to enhance the literary skills of our students

and inculcate in them good reading habits. Keeping the tradition, the Book Fair for the session 2015 - 16

commenced on 23rd

August‟15. It was inaugurated by Mrs. Antil, wife of honourable Dist. collector.

The event saw an overwhelming response from students and parents who had come to attend the PTM.

A wide range of books from all disciplines of education was displayed, and fiction saw the greatest

takers. A lucky draw was organised by the scholastic group for book lovers.

Guru Purnima

“A real Guru (Teacher) works for the welfare of the students without expecting anything in return.”

The Bharat Vikas Parishad held the festivities in authentic ancient Indian tradition at The ABPS,

Veraval on 1st August‟15. Their representatives called on the students to rejuvenate the rich Indian

tradition and the Guru Parampara. They said that honouring teachers from Vedic times brings a sense

of trust for teachers in the minds of students and with that trust one can live the entire life with a sense of

purpose. A special assembly was organized where all the students were part of the celebrations. The

students paid homage to the teachers by touching their feet and offering flowers.

Investiture Ceremony

“Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”. To inculcate the leadership qualities in

students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body, a school council was formed

in school.

On the fine morning of 8th

July, 2015, deserving young talents of our School were bestowed with the

responsibility of leading their School from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence.

The Investiture Ceremony thus marked the inaugural of the student council for the academic session

2015-16.

An energetic and message- filled song by the School choir created the fitting ambience, as it were, for

the significant ceremony. “This little guiding light of mine” was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp.

With the vigorous beats of the drums, the new council marched in procession up the aisle and on to the

stage. They stood upright with their heads held high and their hearts in humility as each picked up their

precious flags.

The Principal pinned up the sashes and offered badges to each council member. She further administered

the oath of office and the members of the council pledged to adhere to the values and principles upheld

by School apart from their duty towards School. The Head Boy Master Benedict Reji delivered his

maiden speech and the Head Girl Miss Astha Shrivastava proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated in our school to mark the 69th year of freedom from the British rule.

On this patriotic occasion the ABPS showcased a colourful spectacle of India‟s vision through their brief

but meaningful programme.

The programme started with flag hoisting by Principal Madam. Then there was a musical rendition by

school‟s choir group (with the underline theme being saluting our motherland) followed by Hindi and

English speeches depicting different facets of our glorious freedom struggle which energised the

audience with patriotic fervour. At the end, Principal addressed the gathering and conveyed her patriotic

message.

Tete-a-Tete with Asiatic Lion at Gir National Park

It’s better to see something than to hear about it a thousand times.

” Every expedition made is an experience which leaves students pondering and implores them to think”

The students of class XI & XII of our school went on an educational trip to the Gir Forest on 22nd

and

23rd

of August. They were really enthusiastic to see different animals and birds. They learnt a couple of

facts which really made the trip even more interesting. The excursion provided an enlightening

opportunity to students, enabling them to develop sensitivity towards wildlife and concern for their

safety and wellbeing.

It was a remarkable and fun-filled experience for the kids as they came back with smile on their faces.

The students had the pleasure of enjoying the warmth of the sun, watching the animals such as leopards,

deer and black buck and to their excitement the Asiatic Lion. They were thrilled to see the rescue centre

and its functioning. Our students had trekking experience too. They enjoyed looking at various flora and

fauna, river and the fresh environment of the forest. The children were happy to see all those animals

with own eyes about whom they read in books. The camp fire at night was an exhilarating experience

for the students who added music in the air. On the whole, the experience was quite a memorable one

for the kids.

Teacher’s Day

“Teachers are the people who dispel darkness from the lives of students and work devotedly to lighten

their future.”

The morning of 3rd

September‟15 (Teacher‟s Day Celebration) was a treat for the teachers of ABPS, as

the senior students took over the mantle of responsibility, stepping into the shoes of the teachers and

taking charge of the school for the day. Many of the teachers exercised a bit, playing Treasure Hunt and

displayed real team coordination while other presented songs, poetry, mimicry and jokes. A beautiful

cultural programme was organized by students from all the classes where they showcased their talent by

putting up performance in the form of music, dance or skit for their beloved teachers. Principal

conveyed best wishes to all the teachers and appreciated the great efforts of the students. She presented

gifts on behalf of the school management to the teachers for their contribution in the field of education.

The evening turned out to be a big surprise for the teachers as the school management arranged a Movie

and Sumptuous Dinner for them. The presence of the Indian Rayon Delegates – Mr. H. S. Dagur,

President, Mr. Y. Raguvanshi, VP HR and all the Functional heads made the evening more colourful.

DR. GANGULI’S VISIT :

“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more &

become more, then you are an excellent leader”. These words are a fitting tribute to Dr. S. Ganguly,

who visited Veraval on 12th, 13

th & 14

th July‟15. School wore a festive look to welcome him who is a

mentor and guide. His three day schedule was hectic marked by meeting with the students, teachers,

parents & senior management of Indian Rayon. His appreciation and suggestions were a morale booster

for the students and staff.

COACHING CLASSES :

In keeping with the need of the hour, the school has initiated the establishment of Career Coaching in

School. Three reputed agencies were contacted and the franchisee of CAREER KOTA has been

shortlisted to begin the foundation course for the students of Std. VIII and above. The classes are due to

begin from October 2015.

JOY OF GIVING :

“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention”. Keeping this in mind, the

school organised a Social Service for the students of Std X & XII, spanned over two days.

The first day the team with teachers visited „Parth School‟ – a school for mentally retarded and

interacted with the students. It was an enriching experience. The students also visited M.K. Gandhi

Balika Vidyalaya – a school run by Jan Seva trust (Under the aegis of Indian Rayon) for Orphan

Girls. The students distributed clothes, eateries & stationery in both the schools. Visit to Civil Hospital

and Old Age Home was also a life time experience and taught them the Value of Life.

The second day was marked by visit to slums around Veraval. Distribution of clothes, grocery and

eateries overwhelmed the slum dwellers and brought tears in the eyes of the students.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

:

We exposed our students to multifarious competitions to ensure their all-round holistic growth. Some of

the in-house competitions included painting competitions, quiz competitions, essay competitions and
