THANK-YOU FROM THE MEN’S CLUB St. Mary’s Men’s Club would like to express our
appreciation for the incredible support and help we received
for our Lenten Fish Dinners. New attendance records were
set, as over 2,500 fish lovers enjoyed being served one whale
of a dinner that would make even Jonah proud. The assistance
we received from an army of volunteers is appreciated more
than words can say. From the Altar Society, Confirmation
Students, the Youth Group, the School Auction Team, the
other various organizations, ministries and individuals all
joined as one with the Men’s Club for a simple goal: pull
together as a team to provide a family orientated event that
will reflect the pride and love all of us feel for our incredible
parish. Thank-you again and to fish lovers everywhere rest
assured the secret recipes have again been safely vaulted away
until we kick off next year’s season on February 24th
, 2012!

I would like to extend special congratulations to our 48 communicants who received the Holy Eucharist this weekend as well as one classmate who received a very special blessing. I am so proud and happy for all of you. May you all receive Christ frequently and join in mission to love each other as he commanded. I would also like to extend a special thank you to all the 1
st

Also, a special thanks to our coordinators Kim Chiminski and Heather Menosky as well as our Chef Cathy Phipps. Finally, I would like to thank Deacon Randy and the Rosary Makers for helping to make the event special for our young people. Peace and Blessings, Rebecca

ST. MARY DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
MISSION TRIP UPDATE There are now seven people from our parish traveling to
the Dominican Republic on a mission trip with FUMSIL, the
St. Isador Foundation that services the medical needs of the
people along the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
We will leave on July 30 and return on August 6. As with all
mission trips, it is quite costly, approximately $1,200 per
participant.
Thank you to all who supported us by playing Bingo for
Tupperware last Saturday. Whether you attended the Bingo
party, ordered Tupperware, or made a donation; God will
certainly bless you for your generosity. We would like to
thank Pinckney Pub & Grill for donating the food for our
Tupperware/Bingo fundraiser. Also, Lea Strickfaden, one of
our participants, donated all of the Tupperware that was given
as prizes and used for the raffles. We are grateful to both of
these sponsors for making our fundraiser a success.
We have a few more opportunities for fundraising in our
community. Several restaurants have committed to giving a
portion of their sales: PINCKNEY DINER on MAY 24;
HUNGRY HOWIES IN HAMBURG on MAY 18 & JUNE
15; BENNIGANS IN HOWELL on MAY 16; BUFFALO
WILD WINGS IN HOWELL on MAY 26; PINCKNEY PUB
& GRILL on MAY 31(MEMORIAL DAY). Coupons for
restaurants that require one are printed below. There is a box
on the table outside the church where you can place any and
all receipts from Buffalo Wild Wings. We will get extra credit
for all receipts collected over the next couple months.
Sometime in June there will also be a fundraiser dinner open
to the entire parish. Please watch the bulletin for the upcoming
date.
Please keep us in your prayers!

Attention: Adult Men of St Mary Parish Are you saying to yourself, “I want to get involved in this
wonderful parish of ours but I’m not really sure what is right for
me?” Consider the Men’s Club. We meet at 7:30pm, the 3rd
Thursday of each month in the Multi-purpose room. The
purpose of the Men’s Club is to provide assistance and
cooperation with the other organizations within the parish as
well as provide an avenue to generate funds for special needs
within the parish and local community. Our monthly Breakfast
Events have raised thousands of dollars for various causes such
as Christmas Food Baskets, Parish Rectory repairs and School
Auction Team. Our Roast Beef Dinner and Lent Fish Dinners
are some of the most well received and attended events in our
area. Sure it’s work, but the friendships are forever and the
reward for helping those who need our assistance, is well;
priceless. We are very proud of our Stewardship and the service
we provide to our Parish Community. Come check us out this
Thursday, the 19th of May. If you have any questions please
feel free to contact Bob at (810) 623-0300.

The cost of this candle will be $15.00, since it will be burning for a full 7 days. Please give our parish office a call at 734-878-3161 for more details on this unique gift.
Memorial Day Mass will be held at our cemetery on Saturday, May 28th at 9am. If inclement weather - mass will be held in the church at 9am.
Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day because it was a time set aside to honor the nation's Civil War dead by decorating their graves. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers, by proclamation of General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of former sailors and soldiers. On May 5, 1868, Logan declared in General Order No. 11 that:
The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land. In this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.
Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God, Hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand,
Comfort them and their families. Send angels of protection, love, and comfort
to all the service men and women still at war, bring them home safely.
We ask all our prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.
To our newly Confirmed Young People, A warm congratulation to all of you! After months of hard work you are there. Now the work really begins! It is time to embrace your faith as your own. It is no longer the faith of those who have guided you, but yours to really break open and know. I welcome you and challenge you to work to infiltrate your faith into your life no matter where you are. Live it, Love it and enjoy it! You are all truly gifts to our Faith Family. May you feel the Holy Spirit as you are embraced in His Love! Peace and Blessings, Rebecca
