Teknik-El was founded in 1985 to contribute to buildingsector by presenting the advantage of conservationfrom labor force and wood, materials with theproduction of steel building components.

Besides producing long lasting and functional

materials, our approach to our customers with theprincipal of "Presenting perfect service" and ourloving and respectful integration with them hasenabled us to reach these days.

Teknik-El ailesi ad›na flunu gururla söyleyebilirim ki;Teknik-El faaliyet gösterdi¤i sektörde Türkiye’nin enbüyük entegre tesisi durumuna ad›m ad›m geliyor.

Teknik-El, kuruldu¤u günlerden beri, müflterilerindenürünlerinin galvaniz kaplanması yönünde talepalıyordu. Ege Bölgesi’nde bu ihtiyacı karflılayacak birtesis yoktu. Bu gerçekleri göz önüne alıp 1998 yılındaTeknik-El fiirketler Grubu olarak önemli bir kararalarak Tek Galvaniz’i kurduk.

Tek-Galvaniz, otoyol korkulukları, inflaat iskeleleri veyurt dıflı özel imal yapı elemanları konusunda, 4,5 mboyundaki çinko havuzu ile üretimine baflladı.Sektöründe büyük bir bofllu¤u doldurarak hızlı birivmeyle yoluna koyulan Tek Galvaniz, 4,5 metreboyundaki havuzuyla baflladı¤ı üretiminde, sürekliyatırımlarda bulunup, kendini gelifltirerek önce 6,5,sonra 9,5 ve sonunda 12,5 metrelik havuzlarıylakapasitesini sürekli arttırdı.

Bu yatırımlar sadece fason galvanizlemede de¤il,günlük hayat›mızda gördü¤ümüz ve kendi imalatımızolan TEDAfi standardı galvanizli aydınlatmadireklerinde, galvanizli çelik yapılarda ve galvanizlikonstrüksiyon ifllerinde de kullanılmaya baflladı.

Geliflimini aydınlatma ile sınırlı tutmayan Tek-Galvanizsürdürdü¤ü yatırımlarıyla, Enerji Nakil Direkleri, Bazistasyon Direkleri, Stadyum Direkleri ve RüzgarEnerjisi platformları üreterek ülkemize sundu¤ukatkılarını arttırıyor.

I can proudly say this in the name of Teknik-El family;Teknik-El is continuing its way to become the biggestintegrated facility of Turkey in its sector.

Since from the day it was founded, Teknik-El wasgetting demands from its customers to galvanize itsproducts. There weren't any facilities to meet thisneed in Aegean Region. By considering these facts,we have made an important decision as Teknik-ElGroup, and founded Tek Galvaniz.

Tek-Galvaniz had started producing highway barriers,scaffolds and special building components forexport in a 4.5 m length zinc pool. Rapidly growingby filling an important gap in the sector, Tek-Galvanizhad increased its capacity by 6.5 m, 9.5 m, and 12.5m zinc pools respectively.

These investments were started to be used not onlyin contract, manufacturing galvanization, but also inTEDAS standard galvanized lighting poles, galvanizedsteel constructions, and galvanized constructionworks.

Tek-Galvaniz, not restricting its development only tolighting, increases its contribution to our country bymanufacturing Energy Transfer Poles, Base StationPoles, High Mast Lighting Poles and Wind PowerPlatforms. I can proudly say that;

Tek-Galvaniz olarak, süren yatırımlarımız; aylık üretimkapasitesi 4000 direk olan yarı otomatik tesisimizi,aylık 7500 direklik bir kapasiteye ulafltıracak projemizdevam ediyor.

Bir baflka yatırımımız, mevcut 9,5 m olan sıcakgalvaniz havuzunu, 12,5 m havuz ile daha da büyütmeçalıflmaları. Bu yatırımla birlikte enerji hatlarında veanten, baz istasyonu olarak kullanılabilen, tamotomatik galvanizli köflebent örme direklerin üretimhattını daha da gelifltirmeyi planlıyoruz.

Teknik-El tarafından kurulan, tam otomatik toz veyaboya tesisi de devam eden yatırımlarımızdan biri.Sektöründe Ege Bölgesi’nin en büyük tesisi olacakyatırımımızla ülkemizin istihdamına katkıda bulunmakda bizler açısından çok önemli.

40 Ülkeye, üretiminin %40’ını ihraç eden, ülkemizinyollarında, flehirlerinde, denizlerinde ürünleriylehizmet veren, ekonomik ve uzun ömürlü çözümlersunan Tek Galvaniz olarak, siz müflterilerimizin hergeçen gün artan beklentilerini karflılamak üzere,kendimizi gelifltirmeyi sürdürece¤imizi tekrarvurgulamak isterim.

The principle of development by continuousinvestments lies behind the performance we haveshown since the day we have started. With theinvestment policy based on this principle,Tek Galvaniz never sees the point it has reachedenough in terms of development and improvement.

As Tek-Galvaniz, our investments continue. We arenow working on our semi-automatic facility toincrease its capacity from 4000 poles per month to7500 poles per month. Our another investment isto increase the capacity of our hot galvanizationpool from 9.5 m to 12.5 m.

With this investment, we plan to improve theproduction line of full-automatic galvanizedlattice tower poles that can be used in power lines,antennas, andin base stations. Full-automatic powderor paint facility is also one of our continuinginvestments. With this investment, which will be thebiggest facility in the Aegean Region, we will beproud to contribute to our country's employment.

As Tek Galvaniz, we have been exporting 40% ofour products, serving and presenting economicaland long-term solutions in our country's highways,cities, and seas. Once more, I want to state that wewill continue to improve ourselves in order to meetyour increasing demands.

Hot Dip Galvanization (HDG) is formed by the diffusionof iron and steel products suitable for galvanization,in terms of design and chemical properties, in moltenzinc pool and becoming coated by zinc as a result ofmetallic reaction.

This method, with 150 years of history, is the mosttrusted, most resistant and economical method inthe protection of iron and steel against corrosion.

Because of its nature, steel tends to become oxidized,and as a result corrosion occurs. In time, the chemicalcomposition of the steel is ruined. Its physicalstructure weakens. Because of decomposition, itstarts to perish. He most accurate and dramaticexample of this weakness in steel is the weakeningof iron bars used in construction sector. Althoughthey are inside the concrete, they become up to50% thinner as a result of corrosion. The best wayto prevent this weakness is to apply metallic coating.

Biological and chemical coatings offer a time-boundand ineffective coating. HDG is a metallic basedcoating and it forms a conditional alloy between theiron and zinc at the end of the process.

In short, HDG is a coating method formed by themetallic reaction caused as a result of diffusion madeby dipping iron and steel products suitable in termsof design and chemical composition (see suitabledesign for galvanization) to a molten zinc pool. Hot

Dip Galvanization is a coating method, which is beingused in the world for almost 150 years in theprotection of iron and steel against corrosion. Mostof the zinc produced in the world is consumed in thisprocess. The most important reason for this is theresistant and economical nature of the zinc inprotecting iron and steel.

Ideally,there must be holes in both sides of the construction

elements oron both tips diagonal to each other.

When designing a new galvanized product, contactingthe company who will make the galvanization willsave time and money.It is important to remember that the steel productmust be completely dipped to the 450

oC molten zinc

pool during the galvanization process. A design thatwill allow molten zinc to contact all the inner andouter surfaces of the steel will increase coatingquality and decrease the cost.

As an option, a V-shaped notch can be made in.the connection part before the welding.Holes opened on the product for different purposescan enable the draining of the molten zinc and flowof the trapped air in the products that have closedspace If these holes cannot meet the demands ofgalvanization process, then new holes have to beopened.

yaklafl›k 200 bar bas›nca neden olacak ve bu ürününpatlayarak parçalanmas›yla sonuçlanacakt›r. Budurum ayn› zamanda galvaniz atölyesinde çal›flanoperatörler için de son derece tehlikelidir.

Welded pipe productionThere musn't be any closed volumes. In weldedconnection places, junction must be cut out as seenin A flex or holes must be opened on the pipe to bewelded before the welding process as seen in B flex.Another option is to drill holes that can be seenonthe joint pipe as seen in C flex. The last method ispreffered by galvanization practicer because it givesopportunity to check by naked eye to see if thereare any holes forgotten before the galvanizationprocess. Pipe tips must be open or removablestoppers must be used.

Small pipe production

1- For holes not smaller than 6 mm, ventilation mustbe made. Undesired ventilation holes can be closedby epoxy filler after the Galvanization process.2- When the product is hanged for galvanization, thehole for ventilation (on the top) and the hole fordraining molten zinc(on the bottom) must be drilleddiagonally opposite to each other.3- When the empty components (like pipes, boxes,profile, etc.) are connected to form closed volumes(like in railing, stairs or platform manufacturing);diagonally opposite holes are needed on top andbottom to let molten zinc pour into all the closedvolumes and let the air out.4- On all supporting, diaphram, connection parts ofthe product, holes are needed in corners to let themolten zinc in.5- Bolts must be connected after the galvanizationprocess.

If the products with closed volume are dipped in

zincpool without drilling ventilation holes, themoisture in the closed volume will causeapproximately 200 bar pressure under 450 oC andthis will result in the explosion of the product. Also,this situation is extremely dangerous for theoperators working in the galvanization facility.

E¤er yap›fl›k yüzeyler önlenemiyor ise, temas edenyüzeyin çevresi çepeçevre sürekli kaynak yap›lmal›d›r.Ayr›ca elemanlardan birisine her 100 cm2 yap›fl›kyüzey için bir tane 6 mm çap›nda delik delinmelidir.Bu havaland›rma deli¤i galvanizleme çal›flanlar›n›nemniyetini sa¤layacak, delinen cismin zarar görmesiniengelleyecektir.

Surfaces that come on top of each other (bonded)

Narrow spaces, bonded surfaces, cornerpieces andprofiles with surfaces that come on top of each othermust not be used. If this situation cannot be avoided,then the sides of the bonded part must be welded toprevent any leakage. If this process is not done, thenthe acid left between thebonded surfaces may leakand cause a color change ora degeneration on thegalvanized layer later.

Large, bonded surfaces

If it is not possible to avoid bonded surfaces,then the perimeter of the contacting surfacemust be welded throughoutly. Also, for every100cm2 surface, one of the components must bedrilled to make a 6mm diameter hole. This ventilationwill ensure the safety of galvanization workers andprevent the damage on the drilled object.

Tank and containersIf the inner and outer surfaces will be galvanized,then at least there must be a filling-drainage holeand a ventilation hole drilled diagonally on the othertip. For every 0.5cm3 volume, there must be at least50mm diameter hole.

Galvanize protects the steel in 3 ways:

Dull grey coating

This appearance is caused by diffusion of iron toform the zinc-iron alloy phase at the surface of thecoating. It first develops as a localized dull patch orlace-work pattern on an otherwise normal surfacebut may extend over the entire surface. It occurs onsteels (such as those with relatively high silicon orphosphorous contents) which are particularly reactiveto molten zinc. Since these coatings are often thickerthan the normal bright coatings, they will give alonger life. It is rarely possible for the galvanizer tominimize this effect which is due to the compositionof the steel.

Rust Stains

The most common cause of rust stains on the coatingis contact with or drainage from rusty steel surfaces.The galvanized coating remains intact under thestain and will fully protect the basis steel. Ruststaining can alsobe caused by the weeping of picklingacid residues from seams and pin holes in welds; thiswill not cause significant damage to the coating.Early staining can also sometimes occur if the coatingconsists entirely of zinc-iron alloy (see note A) andarises from the iron in the coating itself. It shouldnot be confused with rusting of the coating sinceexposure trials have shown that the corrsionresistance of the alloy layers is similar to that of zincitself. Rust stains can be removed using a scouringpowder called ‘Oakite Highlite’ available from OakiteLtd, West Carr Road Industrial Estate, Retford, Notts.

For architectural applications the galvanizer canoften achieve a smootherfinish than the normalcommercial coating.If this isrequired it must be madeclear atthe time of placing the order and may involveextra cost bacause of the greater time andmanipulation required at the galvanizing bath.

General roughness

Arough coating is usually due to excessive or unevengrowth of the alloy layers arising from thecomposition or surface condition of the steel, whichare factors outside the control of the gavanizer.Features of the galvanizing process which can alsogive rise to general roughness are over-pickling, toolong immersion in the bath or excessive bathtemperature. A rough coating is often thicker thana conventional coating and therefore hasa longerlife.In applications where the rough finish isaesthetically unacceptable or would interface withthe intended use of the product, it is rarely possiblefor the galvanizer to effect any improvement andsteel composition and surface condition should bemoreclosely specified.

Lumpiness and runs

British Standart 729 : 1971 demands that a galvanizedcoating shall be ‘smooth’ but points out thatsmoothness is a relative term and that coatings onfabricated articles should not be judged by the samestandards as are applied to mechanically wipedproducts such as galvanized sheet tube and wire.Lumps and runs caused by uneven drainage are notharmful to the life of the coating. Fabrications withdrainage spikes of such a size that they can beknocked off, exposing bare steel, require remedialrepair of the coating.

The best means of preventing wet storage stainingis to ensure that galvanized products are wellventilated conditions.The application of a chromatepassivation treatment prevents or delays wet storagestain.

Pimples

Wet storage stain(white rust)

Pimples are caused by inclusions of dross (a zinc-iron alloy - see Appendix 1) in the coating. These mayarise from iron salts carried over on the work fromthe pickling tank which are unable to escape fromthe surface of the coating . Contamination may alsoarise from agitation of the dross layer at the bottomof the bath. Dross has a smillar corrosion rate tothat of zinc and its presence as finely dispersedpimples is often not objectionable.However, majordross inclusions are normally grounds for rejectionas they tend to embrittle the coating.

As with flux, ash may be burnt on to the surfaceduring dipping or picked up from the top of the bathduring withdrawal.Inclusions of the first type interferewith the formation of the coating and are a causefor rejection.

Flux staining

Where flux is used during the dipping proces, staleflux may adhere to the surface of the work duringimmersion and appearasa black inclusion in thecoating. Such inclusions tend to pick up moisture,forming an acid solution, and coatings containingthem should be rejected.Black deposits of flux pickedup on the surface as the object is withdrawn fromthe bath do not warrant rejection provided that whenthe deposit is removed the underlying coating is seento be sound. Smuts or dirt may be picked up on thesurface of the coating from the floors of shops ortrucks or from contact with other articles. Thesesmuts are readily washed off to reveal a soundcoating underneath and are not therefore harmful.

Small areas of coating may be damaged by operationssuch as cutting or welding after galvanizing. Althougha galvnized coating has excellent resistance to roughtreatment, smal areas of damage may occur intransport and erection.

Bare sporzs

Because of the sacrificial action of zinc, small localizedflaws, 6 mm max. across, are usually self-healing andhave little effect on the life of the coating. Grossuncoated areas are generally due to faulty processingand such coatings should be rejected unhesitatingly.Causes for which the galvanizer should be helpresponsible include under preparation of the steel,over-drying before galvanizing, excess aluminium inthe galvanizing bath and articles in contact with oneanother during dipping. Bare spots can also be causedby rolling defects in the steel (such as laps and folds,laminations and non - metallic impurities rolled intothe surface); the gavanizer should not be responsiblefor defects arising from these causes.

After digging the soil in the defined dimensions,face mould and anchorage sent by Tek-Galvanizare placed, and concrete is poured to the area.Concrete should not contact to the nut placed onto the pass by squeezing till the end. Also itshouldn’t contact the bottom nut. Even after theconcrete is dried, face mould and anchorage shouldbe still in place.

After concrete dries and placed to its place, facemould is removed. After the pouring of concrete,if there is concrete on anchorage pass and nuts,then these are cleaned off. Anchorage nuts arecleaned from possible concrete particles smearedon them.

After these stages assembly of pole is started.Calibration balance is made by bottom and topnuts, shown as A and B.

Conducting ground survey before pole installmentis very important. Depending on structural propertyanalysis of the ground, diameter and depth of thefoundation that will carry the pole are calculated.Foundation is dug according to these dimensions. In concrete pouring processes, the following are

very important for pole installment:• Anchorage setting nuts should not contactconcrete when they are fastened completely to thepass.• Protecting the anchorage even after concrete isdried.• Checking the balance of nuts with aperpendicular.One must remeber that bottom nuts are veryimportant for the balance of the pole.

The most economical way of manufacturing andtransporting the poles is manufacturing with parts.The pole, coming to installment area in parts isconical and has corners. So it can be assembledby “tight fitting” method.

In tight fitting method the diameters of top partsare greater than the diameters of bottom parts.In the assembly, bottom part is tightly placed inthe top part. During this assembly, length weldingsof the two parts must be in the same line.

To prevent fitted parts from sliding during theinstallment, they are tied from erection point toinstallment point. The crane to be used in theinstallment of the pole should be selected accordingto pole length, weight, accessories, and landconditions. Crane must be positioned accordingto the position of the pole and maneuvers required.Erection point of the crane must be higher thanstrong point of the pole. After the pole is erected,nuts are fastened right after the balance and staticchecks.

The production of Tek Galvaniz lattice towers startwith project stage. Taking the geographical conditionsinto consideration, design phase and works onstructure geometry are started. Corner-pieces thatconstitute lattice towers are different from eachother. Corner-pieces, coded during the design process,are carefully produced along with their holes neededin molding stage.
