Kindermusik encourages early learning and creativity in children from birth to 7 years. Music is the means, not the goal. The goal is a more alive, creative, and able child. In five lessons experience a summer’s worth of music, stories, and activities created to inspire a lifetime of learning. Parents and children will play, learn, sing, dance, create, and share in the fun of making music together. A trusted Kindermusik educator guides the class through each research-proven and giggle-approved activity.
The 5 Weeks of Kindermusik Spring Adventure classes offered in May and June are a wonderful way to either extend your Kindermusik experience at the end of the Winter term or to try Kindermusik for the first time. Classes will be offered for Village (0-18 months), Our Time (18 months to 3 years), Imagine That (3-5 years) and Family Time (0-5 years).
New! “The Next Step: Exercising the Musical Brain” - Find out about this new summer program, a follow up to Kindermusik for the Young Child, on the next page!
School of Music 6
The Next Step: Exercising the Musical Brain is a class to follow Kindermusik forthe Young Child
Using the Dalcroze Method of music teaching, this class will build on the foundation of Kindermusik for the Young Child. It will incorporate movement to explore and better understand musical concepts such as melody, phrasing, harmony, pulse (or steady beat) and rhythm.
We will develop the skills needed for musical dictation, linking what we hear with what is put on the page. We will make music together with various instruments (glockenspiels, simple handbells, percussion instruments and recorders), building ensembles and creating arrangements for our pieces. We will also sing and use our bodies to come to deeper understanding of the music - in this way your child will build the base for lifelong knowledge and love of music.
