proudly in the air. Students from Pre Primary, Primary and Secondary put up performances with great gusto expressing love for the country.

Sanskrit Week CelebrationsSanskrit Department celebrated Sanskrit Week from 17thAugust, 2016 to 23th August, 2016. A week long exhibition was organized in school library, displaying students’ work in Sanskrit literature, Sanskrit in science, Sanskrit in modern era, live models and Sanskrit games etc. The students showcased their talent and interest with their splendid performances in the inauguration ceremony on 17thAugust, 2016.

Brushing Up The Basics Of English GrammarWith the motive to refresh the basics of English Grammar and teaching of the same to the students, a workshop on ‘Basic Grammar teaching skills’ was conducted on 2nd July 2016 for the teachers of Pre-Primary and Primary sections, by the Vice Principal Mr. Kamal Chand.

Letter WritingA session on Letter writing was taken up by the Vice Principal of the school Mr. Kamal Chand, with the teachers of Pre Primary and Primary Wing. The session highlighted the importance, formats and types of letters. The main objective was to make letter writing more effective.

Workshop on Effective Question Paper Making.

Question Paper making is an “art” as well as a “craft”. To relearn the art, a workshop on Effective Question Paper Making was

organized for the teachers of Std. VI to X taking the five main subjects namely English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science and Social Science on 30.07.2016, Saturday. The workshop was conducted by Ms. ManjuDabi and was presided over by Ms. Rani Chaudhry, Director and the Vice-Principal .

AUTOCALYPSE 2016: Automobile workshop.An Automobile workshop on 13 and 14 August, 2016 was organized by Mechanical Engineering Department, in association with Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) and SAE Nirma Club for the students of Standard X, XI and XII from various schools of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Road Safety and Basic Transport Rules and Regulations.A Workshop on Road Safety and Basic Transport Rules and Regulations was conducted by Kataria Motor Driving School, Ahmedabad on 20thAugust 2016. The aim was to make the drivers and conductors understand the need to follow traffic rules for safe and smooth driving as they have tremendous responsibility of safety of school children. WORKSHOP ON YOGA FOR KIDSA workshop on “Yoga For Kids” was conducted on 3rd September 2016 for the teachers of Pre-Primary, 1st and 2nd std. As the title suggests, teachers learnt yoga which could be taught to children.

THEATRE - IN – EDUCATIONA series of capacity building workshops on Theatre In Education for all the teachers of the school was organized. The aim

was to make teaching learning process stress free. The workshops were conducted by Mr. Walter Peter, the renowned Artistic Director, ex-TIE Company member of National School of Drama, New Delhi, working in close association with CRY.

District Subroto Cup Football Tournament District Subroto Cup Football Tournament was held at Swayam International School, Kalol, Gandhinagar on 13th and 14th July 2016. DPSG participated in Under-14 and Under-17 categories - Boys and Girls. In both the categories of Girls, the teams emerged as Runners Up in the tournament, with 8 teams participating in the event.

Inter House Lawn Tennis CompetitionInter House Lawn Tennis Competition for Class-VI to X (Under-14 & 17 Boys & Girls) was held on 03rd September, 2016.WINNERS: U-14 BOYS. (NARMADA HOUSE) U-14 GIRLS (NARMADA HOUSE) U-17 BOYS (MAHI HOUSE) U-17 GIRLS (NRAMADA HOUSE)

District Football Tournament Boys U - 19The Tournament for Boys Under-19 was held at BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir Raysan, Gandhinagar on 29 July, 2016, with 8 teams participating in the event. Team DPSG became Champions of the tournament. Six students have been selected for the state level football tournament.

DPS National Swimming Meet Girls (Open) 2016.Inter DPS National Swimming Meet Girls (Open) 2016 was hosted by DPS Sonipat city from 28th to 31st July, 2016.Dilpreet Kaur of class XII-D won two Gold medals, two Silver medals & One Bronze medal in different events.

District Football Tournament - Under 17 (Boys).District Football Tournament for Boys Under-17 was held at BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir Raysan, Gandhinagar on 04th August, 2016. DPS Gandhinagar Team became Champion of the tournament. Five students from our team have been selected for the state level football tournament.

District School Game Basketball Tournament for GirlsDistrict School Game Basketball Tournament for Girls in all age groups was held at Gandhinagar International Public School, Gandhinagar (G.I.P.S) on 10 August, 2016.Total 9 teams participated in the tournament. The girls outsmarted all the others and secured first Position in the tournament. 14 Students from team DPSG have been selected for state level basketball tournament.

Game Badminton Tournament.Gandhinagar Rural District School Game Badminton Tournament was held at Sec.-21, Gymkhana, Gandhinagar on 2nd August 2016. In Under-14 Boys category, DiyonRodricks of class VI-D secured 2nd position, Ayush Singh of class VII-H secured 3rd position and Vimal Kumar of class VII-E bagged 5th position.In Under -17 Girls category, AyushiYadav of class IX-G secured 3rd position.Total 4 students were selected for state level tournament.

District School Games Lawn Tennis Competition, Boys & Girls Under –14, Under –17 & Under – 19 Boys was held at School of Achiever Gandhinagar on 20thJuly 2016 & 30thJuly 2016.From our school team, 10

Students (Under-14: 3 Boys, 3 Girls, Under-17: 2 Boys, 1 Girl and Under -19: 1 Boy) have been selected for the State Level Lawn Tennis Competition.

STATE LEVEL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

State Level Basketball tournament (Boys Under - 19) was held at Sports University Patan Gujarat from 18/09/2016 to 20/09/2016. 29 teams, 348 students from various school participated in the tournament. Our Rural team showed good performance by beating Kach-Bhuj city by 10-08 Points in the first knock-out match.

Inter School Competitions

National Level Inter School Drawing Competition 2016Faber Castle Pvt Ltd Bombay organized a “National Level Inter School Drawing Competition-2016” in the school premises. In the Zonal Finals, two students out of three best students selected from all over Gujarat, belong to our school. Aarohi Samarth (IX-B) and Yug Patel (IV –B) have been awarded with a Certificates of Excellence, Gold medals, GiftHampers and Lenovo Tablets.

I Level 15th National Cyber Olympiad organized by Science Olympiad Foundation:Ishaan Patel of class XII has secured Zonal Rank 1 and International Rank 3 and have been awarded with International Bronze Medal and a cheque of Rs.10000. Sankha Das of class X has secured Zonal Rank 1 and International Rank 20,and has been awarded with Zonal Gold Medal and a cheque of Rs.5000.Karmanyaah Malhotra of class VI has secured Zonal Rank 2 and International Rank 18 and has been awarded with a Zonal Silver Medal and a cheque of Rs. 2500.

SPARX 2016- Inter School Dance Competition.Mount Carmel- Gandhinagar organized an Inter-School Dance Competition (SPARX 2016) on 3rd August 2016.Students of classes 6 & 7 participated in two different categories (folk & western) and bagged first position in western dance and third position in folk dance competition.

Divine Fest 2016Divine Child International School, Adalaj organized the ANNUAL INTER SCHOOL EVENT – DIVINE FEST 2016 on 13th August 2016.Total 36 students of Delhi Public School, Gandhinagar

participated whole heartedly in various competitions and gave a tough fight to all the opponents. SnigdhaDubey of Class IX– F bagged 1st position as an Interjector, in English Debate Competition and Jay Ojha of Class XII – B secured

3rd position as an Interjector, in English Debate Competition.

SRIJAN- 2016SRIJAN 2016 was organized by DPS Bopal, Ahmedabad on 6th August 2016. In Western Music Competition (FEST-O-MUSICA) our school secured first position, in CODE WARRIORS, the students secured second position.Students of class IX and X participated in Mathematics Quiz Competition (Ganitagya) and won third position.

Tell a story- Photo Competition.To celebrate Nature C o n s e r v a t i o n Day, YETI India organized “Tell a story- Photo Competit ion”.18 Students from classes IX –XII participated and submitted nine photo stories. Three photo stories out of nine were selected and 6 students - Ohm Soni, ShamindraSingha, ManasMahavir, Saransh Gaur, ApoorvaBisht and Foram Patel won a one-day excursion trip to Jambughoda Forest and all the participants were given certificates of participation.

CSR ActivitiesPhilanthropy and harmonious living with all creations of God, forms an integral feature of CSR activities. Students get hands on

experience by donating essentials of daily needs to the less privileged. World Environment Day was celebrated by reiterating the need to care for Earth to save life. A rally on Animal Day on 4th October, involving parents along with their pets was much appreciated. Smt. Pramodaben Shashikant Sutariya - Deputy Mayor, Ahmedabad flagged off the rally.

JOY OF GIVING Delhi Public School, Gandhinagar organized “JOY OF GIVING” with the help of the students and teachers of class II and VI. Parents also joined hands

to make this event successful by donating clothes, toys, books, stationary, eatables, footwear etc.

‘Say No to Plastic Bags, Use Paper Bags’ An initiative taken by the students of class VII and VIII

towards sensitizing students about discarding deadly plastic bags and instead use paper bags.Two volunteers from the NGO ‘PAPA’ taught students the

art of making paper bags using old newspapers and magazines. The same was taught to the children of our school maids, by students themselves. Approximately 1500 paper bags were made and distributed to various shopkeepers at Adalaj and Por village to accomplish the aim.
