Environment Group members this week and his wealth of knowledge will be sorely missed by all. Joe, and his older brother Michael, have been wonderful students here and we wish them, and their parents, all the very best.

Band Our band will be playing at tomorrow's new kindergarten assembly. Could all band members please bring their instruments and music. All expressions of interest notes for joining/continuing with the band for 2016 should be returned by tomorrow. Mountain resident Jim Benham has kindly donated a drum kit to the school. Band rehearsals and tutorial time table will remain as is during swimming scheme weeks.

Swim Scheme We have opened up places for Year 1 students to participate in the swimming scheme. If you would like your to be involved, please return the note this week. Students will come to school in uniform and change before traveling to the pool. All clothing and towels need to be labelled with names. A plastic bag for wet clothing is es-sential.

Singing Mrs Margaret Smith has been working with all the students K-6, developing their singing ability. We have greatly appreciated her involvement in the school and the students have benefitted from her expertise. Neil Mitchell

5/6 It is a busy week for both years 5 and 6 this week. Year 5 will be running their first assembly and presenting their leadership speeches this Friday from 1.45pm. During this time Year 6 are running their annual car wash. A note has been sent home today listing things they need to bring with them on Friday. Car wash will be running from 2-4pm, please bring your car down and support our fundraising efforts. Year 6 held a Milkshake Day today, one of our thoughtful students suggested that the money raised from this day go towards the fundraising for Lily and Reuben Tudor. All students agreed that this was a great idea so all money raised from today will be given to Nicki Ward to go towards Saturday’s fundraiser. Thank you, Year 6, what a kind and thoughtful thing to do. I received an email from Kariong Mountains High School last week, informing us that Kash, Sam and Asia have been accepted into their Selective Bioscience class for Year 7. Well done guys, this is a much deserved achievement. Congratulations. Laura Knight K/1/2 I would like to congratulate K/1/2 on their performance at Laycock Street Theatre last Friday. Students performed their skit ‘The Adventures of Zoe Waste Zoe and Wasteful Wendy’. What an amazing job they did! We would also like to say thank you to all of the parents who transported children to the show. Days like this are not possible without your support. We appreciate you spending your time transporting us to and from the theatre. No homework was sent home on Friday. Students can enjoy a homework free week but I would like students to continue to read each night. This week will be our last week of reading groups with parent helpers. K/1/2 would like to thank all of the parents who were able to come in and help throughout the year. Whether it was once, twice or every week, we loved having you in our room. Thank you! 2016 Kindergarten Orientation Tomorrow will be the last visit for our Kinders who are starting big school next year. They have had a fun time getting to know their buddies and new class mates. They will be joining us for lunch tomorrow. We look forward to seeing them every day next year Environment News On Friday, Somersby Public School was awarded a certificate of participation for their efforts in the Gosford City Council Greenhouse Program. The judges were very impressed with all of the environmental initiatives that are in place at our school. I would like to take this chance to thank the members of the environment group as well as all of the extra helpers for all of their hard work this year. I’m looking forward to another successful year next year. I would also like to congratulate Maggie and Burnum who were presented with special awards for their ‘at home’ environment projects. The judges loved Maggie’s texta lamp shade and Burnum’s reused pallet chair. Well done to you both. Jade Cranstone
