ELECTRICAL CURRENT
Types of Current ElectricityThe two forms of current electricity are
direct current and alternating current.Direct Current (DC) forces a flow of
electrons in a single direction within an electrical circuit.
Alternating Current (AC) forces a flow of electrons such that they stop and change directions and vice versa.
Types of Current ElectricityIf you have ever watched a interview on the
news where a TV or computer screen was visible on camera, then you have seen how the screen flashes on and off. This is because the screen is plugged into the wall socket which uses AC.
Types of Current ElectricityIn AC, the current flows and then stops and
then reverses its direction continuously.
GeneratorsAs the name suggests, generators produce
electricity. If while in a building that has experienced an electrical outage, you may notice that some lights come on. These lights are made possible by a generator somewhere in the building produced electricity (usually using gasoline).
GeneratorsA generator can take the form of a turbine, a
windmill or a watermill. You can even spin a magnet within another magnet to produce an electrical current.
