Mount Zion’s Mission Statement Mount Zion Bap st Church exists to partner with the Holy Spirit in fulfilling The Great Com‐mission of making disciples of all the na ons.

Winter con nues to hold us in its icy grasp crea ng chaos for work and school schedules and greatly increasing the longing many feel for the earliest possible arrival of spring. Take heart,

dear friends. In all my years living on this green Earth, the seasons have never failed to change and I doubt this will be the first. Although we may feel it will never arrive, spring is on the way. I can’t wait! As winter transi ons to spring many people will naturally be open to transi‐

ons in their lives as well. The March/April Give Me 5 emphasis in adult Sunday School, focusing on touching those families and individuals who have been more or less MIA (Missing In Ac on) from Bible study and worship, provides an excel‐lent opportunity to capitalize on that openness the change in seasons brings to people. With Easter just a few weeks away there is no be er me than now to get back into the habit of regularly studying God’s Word and worshipping Him with others. Your invita on may be just the catalyst needed for someone to make a posi ve spring me change. The March issue of your daily prayer guide will be available this coming Sun‐day. Peter and Jeanne Simpson have authored the guide for this month and have focused on evangelism and missions. I believe you will find it a valuable tool to u lize as part of your daily devo onal life. Lead Me to the Cross 5K and Fun Run is a great event for the en re family. Not only is it an opportunity to support our local volunteer fire department, it also is a me when hundreds of people visit our campus, some for the very first

me. The Lord may very well use their par cipa on in this race as an open door to future spiritual change and Mount Zion can be the logical place to look for assistance in that process. Par cipants and volunteers are s ll needed. I am always blessed when our Music Ministry leads in special mes of wor‐ship. Don’t miss the evening of March 15 when our choir and orchestra, joined by two of our ensembles, presents “Crimson Love.” We are sure to be inspired and assisted in our prepara on for a wonderful Easter season.

Thank you for your prayers as the team traveled and worked in Ohio. Judson Adams, church planter with Life Spring Church was excited to meet with us and have us in his second worship/informa onal mee ng. Those that were there were excited

about the upcoming Easter "Egg"splosion. They plan to have 15,000 eggs to distribute, as well as, games and prizes. Help is needed to make this happen. The next team to be with Life Spring will leave on April 2 and return late Easter Sunday. Plan on joining us as we connect, commit, and cement our partnership with Life Spring Church. Gateway Community Church in North Ridgeville, a suburb of Cleveland, will open its doors this Sunday, March 1, with a new look and a fresh start. Pray for this church plant that they will become a vital part of the community. Pray that many will come and be a part of this launch in a newly renovated permanent facility. Since the last ar cle, there has been a ton going on in the Children’s ministry. For example I have prepared for the “I’m a Chris an Now” class that began on February 23 and will con nue through

March 16. The class is a 4 week study for those children who have been bap‐zed. The material will focus on what is next for them as they have surrendered

their lives to Christ. The curriculum will help them deepen their walk with Christ through tools that will equip them to go out and share their tes mony, along with teaching them the ordinances that Bap sts observe. In addi on, the class will iden fy ways to serve in and out of our community. It will also communicate the importance of daily fellowship with Christ through prayer and Bible reading. If your child has not yet a ended the class please encourage them to register for the next session. Also, in the month of March we will begin planning for the Easter Eggstravagan‐za. As usual this outreach event will require many willing bodies who feel called to serve in some form or fashion. The event will be on April 4 from 1pm to 4pm. So please begin praying about where God would have you serve. There will be sign‐up sheets sent to all adult Sunday rooms and one placed in the central com‐mons and the Chapel. Look for these in the upcoming weeks. Just a reminder there will be no Awana or Z‐groups on Sunday, March 22 and March 29 ‐ due to Spring Break. If you have any ques ons regarding the sched‐ule please refer to the mzbc.net website.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 28:7, which says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield;

my heart trusts in Him and I am helped. Therefore, my heart great‐ly rejoices and with my song I will praise Him.” This has been an important verse to me ever since I started singing for the Lord as a teenager. It would be impossible for me to recount all the ways the Lord as helped me as I have trusted in Him through the years but one thing I know, He has never failed me. Therefore, I have personal reason to praise Him. I’m sure you do too. However, even if he never tended to any of our personal prayers and needs, He earned our praise when He went to the cross for our sins and rose from the grave on the third day so that we might have eternal life. The MZBC Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will be presen ng “Crimson Love” An Evening of Praise and Worship on Sunday evening March 15th at 6pm. The evening will also include songs by the First Light Ensemble and Zion’s Call Ensemble. You will not want to miss this evening of gospel singing during the days leading up to holy week and resurrec on Sunday. Please make your plans to a end and bring everybody you know. The Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will have special dress rehears‐als to prepare for Crimson Love on Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30 – 8:30 and Thursday, March 12th at 6:30 – 8:30 in the sanctuary.

This past month has been a whirlwind for me. Just eight days a er Jessica gave birth to our second child, Ezra, we kicked

off the largest student ministry event of the year. The unbelievable thing is that by all accounts, it was the best Disciple Now weekend we’ve ever had. Let me explain how that is possible. We begin planning for quarterly major events about a year in advance. There‐fore Disciple Now was on the books well before we knew about Ezra. At Jessi‐ca’s first appointment the doctor told us the due date was February 13, the start day of Disciple Now. Our office immediately switched into stress mode. Disciple Now is an extremely complex event involving 300‐400 people and around twen‐ty loca ons. The idea of me having a baby in the middle of all of that just seemed absurd. God, however, knew what he was doing. As the weekend approached, scores of adult leaders took responsibility for large por ons of the weekend. Charity Wright worked with David Cochran to coordi‐nate nine service opportuni es for over 200 people. Jason Blaxton and John Wilkerson handled stage design and construc on. Kim Blaxton found twenty five meal providers on a moment’s no ce. Denise Landrith built stage design elements with Alan, while also covering a great deal of the office work. My wife wrote opening lessons and quiet mes. Rooted students poured in to provide labor on countless tasks. Cindy Walker managed many of our meal providers. Will Elle spent the en re weekend at the church working on the sound system. Casey Smith managed the worship services, coordina ng the band, speaker, and media teams. Whitney Zickafoose basically did my job in addi on to her own, while the interns, Emily Woods and Aus n McBride spent far too much me in the office pulling everything together. Addi onally, 42 adults served as small group leaders, 18 families hosted students in their homes, and 80 individuals provided meals for groups. All of that enabled me to hold our new baby and be there for Jessica. I’m so thankful for all of you who pulled Disciple Now off. Your efforts sent ripples into eternity. Five students gave their lives to Christ and countless others were brought near to their Father for the first me in a long me. Thank you for mak‐ing that possible.

I hope you have not missed the launch of Church Community Builder (CCB) over the last month in our church. There are already some 600 users of CCB within our church body – a

great reason to celebrate! CCB has had enormous success across every part of our campus – from our children’s ministry check‐in to how we stay connected and communicate in Sunday School, from how our guests can find small groups to plug into to how we can now make dona ons to the church and have access to our giving records online. CCB will con nue to be a cri cal tool we use to help people connect in the days ahead, so if for some reason you haven’t started using it yet, please don’t delay! To get a login to CCB, here is what you need to do. Go to our church’s main website www.mzbc.net. Once there, look at the bo om right hand corner of the front page and you will see the le ers CCB. Click on the le ers and you will be taken directly to a page that enables you to request a login password, which will come to you via your email account. A er you have your login infor‐ma on, you will be able to access CCB and enjoy the wonderful benefits of being be er connected with our church family. Don’t forget, if you have any ques ons, you can always ask the folks standing just behind the large desk in the commons area each Sun‐day morning under the banner “How can we help?” If you have ques ons during the week, please feel free to send them to me and I’ll do my best to help get you acquainted with the tool. My email address is rob.ha [email protected].
