PROFESSORS’ MESSAGE I am delighted that Apeejay School of Architecture and Planning has initiated its Newsletter 2017-18 that conveys academic and co-curricular achievements, and activities held in the college. The medium allows for a periodic review of campus happenings, and helps us to introspect for improvements upon the present. I am sure that recognition of students’ achievements herein will also inspire the students to perform even better and bring laurels to the Institute. I congratulate the team that has helped to put this newsletter together.

I have been associated with Apeejay School of Architecture and planning since last one year and feel honoured be here. Every day is a new learning experience for students as well as for me. I would keep sharing my experiences with students for their growth and bright future. Apeejay provide its students a platform of innovative learning, interaction with experts of the field and also assist students to adapt research based approach for architecture . Consistent efforts of maintaining the high standards of architecture education, motivation and encouragement would surely provide a strong foundation for future architects of India.

DIRECTOR’S DESK

We recently successfully conducted a National Architecture Education Seminar with aplomb and brought together some of the best minds in the Academia and Practice in the country,

in our efforts in bridging gaps between Academia and Practice, and seeking a new direction for Architectural education. Our path-breaking efforts will hopefully lead to many more such meaningful and purposeful conferences/seminars. The thrust is to spark the minds of the young and faculty to think holistically about architectural education in the ever evolving education world.

I have a vision, to create together with my Management and faculty, great opportunities for our students to excel, nurture their aspirations, to be able to get the most experienced people from their respective fields, to share their ideas and experience with both faculty and students.

In recent times, we have invited eminent professionals to our Institute. Our students have visited important learning places. Our faculty too have actively participated in Faculty development programmes. All in all, everyone has learned and benefitted in the past one year or so. Our approach has been to interact with the different spheres of profession to a greater degree than in the past. Such a learning program integrates practical knowledge, and having a hands on experience gives a sense of self awareness, responsibility and greater confidence. We all recognise that every task and experience, from the simple to the complex, requires attention to quality. We are preparing our students to push architecture forward. Our senior batch, the third year students will very soon embark on their professional internship and we are very excited that the ideas they have developed in the studios can hopefully be manifested in the offices they go to.
