STAGE 3 NEWS!
Year 6 fundraiser—Year 6 vs teacher netball game:
Year 6 will be holding a mufti day and cake stall, as well as playing a game of netball against the
teachers in front of the rest of the school to raise money for their Year 6 farewell and end of year
activities. On Friday 21st September, all students K-6 are asked to wear mufti to school
for the day in exchange for a gold coin donation. This gold coin donation will also allow
them to watch the Year 6 students compete against a team of teachers in a netball
match. During the netball match we will have Year 6 students running a cake stall for
students to purchase items from as they watch the game.
We would appreciate any donations of items for us to sell at the cake stall. Items could
include cakes, cupcakes, doughnuts, biscuits, toffees, slices, jellies and any other sweet
treats students may wish to donate. All donations should be taken to Mrs Hudson’s classroom on Friday
morning. All money raised from this fundraiser will go towards the Year 6 farewell and end of year
activities. We thank you in advance for your kind support of this fundraiser.
Year 6 Fun Day:
Year 6 Fun Day will be held in Term 4 on Tuesday 13th November (Week 5).
Year 6 students are encouraged to start thinking about what activities they might
like to run and who they might wish to work with on the day. We will soon be
asking for donations of prizes and other items needed for the day. Some items
include sweet treats to sell at the cake stall, soft drinks, plastic cups, straws,
lollies, coloured hair spray, face paint and face painting equipment and tattoos to name a few. We will
keep you posted with more information as the day approaches.
Gold awards:
Students are reminded that when submitting Gold Awards, as well as sending in the next 5 awards that
are being counted towards their next Gold Award, students must also provide their last Gold Award that
was received. This then allows Mrs Hudson to easily identify which Gold Award is to be written up as the
next achievement. Many students have been sending their awards in without their last Gold Award
which makes if difficult to know which Gold Award they are up to as their next achievement. Students
are also reminded that participation awards are not able to be counted towards gold awards. Awards of
merit, achievement or other significant awards are accepted and must display the Samuel Terry Public
School logo. For more clarification please see Mrs Hudson.
Homework:
Stage 3 students are reminded about the importance of completing set homework tasks including online
activities set by classroom teachers. All students who have made payment for the software package
have received their passwords for the online learning tools. Students are encouraged to log onto these
websites/apps and complete any tasks that have been set by classroom teachers, as well as explore the
wonderful activities available at their own leisure. These online learning tools support learning that is
occurring at school each day and help to reinforce concepts to students in a fun and engaging way.
