Dear School Community,
I am sure the children are ready for a week off. I am also sure the staff are! We hope you
have a lovely half term and are inspired by the newsletter to try something outside before
the winter really sets in.
With my best wishes, Mr Beveridge, Headteacher
Thank you if you are planning to support our annual
‘Christmas shoe box’ appeal.
Please return any prepared gifts by Friday 8th
November. £1 towards transport costs is always
appreciated too!
Following our visit to Studland Beach, Year 2 made these ‘ Seaside in a Jar’: could you make one in half term?
The PTA raised over £400… thank you for your support
HELP NEEDED IF YOU ARE OUTDOORSY AND PRACTICAL
Our next woodland and school grounds working party in scheduled for Sat 9th November 10:00-13:00. Please let the school office know if you can help with woodland clearance, paths, pruning or tidying. We want to overhaul the raised beds and prepare the woodland for forest schools.
What a team! – Y6 rugby stars! Wow! What can I say about these guys!? They played
out of their skin today, bearing in mind it was their first
proper match situation! They took a game or two to
warm up, but then started playing some outstanding
rugby both in attack and in defense, working their
socks off for each other.
Stand out performances for Daisy and Olive, but closely
chased by every other Year 6 player!
Team: Olive, Daisy, Ruby, Ava, OJ, Will, Wilson, Fraser,
Aiden, Freddie, Ollie and Finley.
Lots of parents there to support which made it a really
great afternoon! The RFU have deemed all tournaments
to be non-competitive, so no out and out winners
announced, we won far more games than we lost!!
After setting up two tries, Wilson managed to bag one
himself!!! Priceless moment! Definitely worthy of a
celebration worship cheer :)
Mr Heard
Well done:
PTA request Could anyone who has broken or unwanted
crayons that they would like to get rid of,
drop them into school for recycling
please? Planning to make these:
Year 2 had a great English lesson reading stories they had written to Year 3. The stories were written following a letter that the Year group had received from a story teller, who asked for their assistance. Mr Beveridge had asked her if she could come and tell stories to Year 3 - unfortunately was at a story telling convention in a far away land and therefore asked for Year 2's assistance (knowing that we had been working on writing stories and using Roald Dahl stories) The children thoroughly enjoyed reading their stories to Year 3 and they were great critiques too. The stories were based on The Enormous Crocodile with the children writing an extra trick made by the crocodile.
Eco Club Request
The children who are members of Eco Club are very excited to be involved in a project to build some new
raised flower beds and hopefully another buddy bench using ‘Eco Bricks’, which they have been making
brilliantly but we need YOUR help too!! Please if you are able - make an Eco Brick for us! What a way to fill
up those half term hours…?
Eco Bricks are plastic milk cartons which are filled with any clean food wrappers or plastic bags which can’t
be recycled. They are to be stuffed in extremely tightly so the carton becomes rigid. We have one now on
the side in the kitchen and it is amazing how much waste can fit in them which doesn’t then just go
into the normal waste bin.
Eco Club are hoping to work with the P.T.A to build and maintain the flower beds as well as many other
exciting projects to make school as caring for the environment as it is for the children!
Any completed bricks can be handed in to the office next term.
Thanks in advance for your support - the children are so passionate about saving their planet!
