I want to take this opportunity to say ‘THANK YOU!’

Thank you to the 66 children who swam for the school.

Thank you to the 27 parents & governors who acted as team managers and swimming helpers.

Thank you to all the families who supported this event.

So far you have pledged £2,211 in sponsorship so thank you to everyone whose donations will

help to improve the play & sport facilities at our school.

Thank you too, to all those who have already brought their sponsor money into the School

Office. A reminder to others to bring it in after half term please! (Make cheques payable to

‘Wareham Lions Club’)

Our school community is amazing! More of our children swam on Saturday for Captain

Shaun’s Treasures and on Sunday for their Rainbow, Brownies, Guide, Beaver & Cub Units and

some for their swimming clubs. Some of our children even swam twice. By the end of the

weekend over £14,000 in sponsorship was pledged overall.

Mary Appleton (Governor)

The school adds its thanks and appreciation, on behalf of everyone to Mary, for giving so

much personal time and attention to ensure this event is a huge success.

Dear All,

IMPORTANT REMINDER!! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MONDAY 29TH OCTOBER IS AN INSET DAY AND SCHOOL IS

CLOSED TO PUPILS.

Thankyou the 12 parents who came to Mrs Pampin’s session about volunteering in school; it has also been

wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents attending learning celebrations and information

sessions over the past few weeks.

I don’t want to DRONE on today, but we are looking to borrow a Drone which is capable of taking high

quality aerial photos (for some banners we plan to create). Please let the school office know if you fancy a

fly by with your ‘toy’ on or huge grounds (I know, I know – it’s not a toy!)

Have a great half term! With my best wishes.

Curriculum highlights Sept-Oct 2018

Saplings (R) Wow! What a wonderful woodland Wednesday…

Ash/Bay (1) We shared songs and books with our grandparents… and learnt about childhood when they were little!

Beech/Elm (2) A wonderful trip to Studland bay and inspiring ‘seaside in a jar’ coming home today.

Orienteering : Using a compass to read a map - Compass points/ directions - Collecting beach treasures - Learning

about physical features - Old Harry Rock sculptures and erosion… and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

Hazel/Lilac (3) We received a letter from the Natural History Museum, asking us to write a report on our

favourite dinosaur for their museum archives. We have been busy researching for our reports, making our own

dinosaur fossils and creating our own snapping dinosaur as part of our DT project.

Hawthorn/Maple (4) Ancient Egypt has been a hit… check out our Canopic jars! (we’re off to see

King Tut’s tomb after half term too!)

Rotary Shoe box appeal T H A N K Y O U – you are all so very generous and will raise many smiles at Orphanages, Children’s homes, schools in need and Special needs units across Eastern Europe. We have been able to send over 65 boxes that make a difference to the lives of children at Christmas time.

Our collection this year (a few more than even last year)! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Olive/Willow (5) Amazing chair ‘pillow pockets’ combining literacy, art and design technology.

Oak/Pine (6) Mad about Mayans: vibrant masks, glorious cooking & family learning celebration.

Well done boys and girls! You were superb, silent, sensible, stealthy and speedy in our fire drill today – good job!
