PBH regularly receives requests from retailers about using the logo on packaging. Retailers especially like that the logo is offered in both horizontal and vertical orientations in either full-color, all black, all red, or all white color styles. The review process is simple — retailers send the nutrition panel for the fruit and vegetable item or product, along with an outline of where the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo will be placed on the pack, and the PBH team will review and respond typically same-day, but definitely within a 24-hour period. Retailers interested in becoming licensed to use the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo should contact Development@PBHFoundaon.org.

Retailers Promote Fruits & Veggies—More Matters on Private Label Packaging!

The number of retailers placing the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® logo on their private label packaging continues to grow! The perfect, and easiest, time to incorporate the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo on pack is when retailers are in the process of re-designing their private label packaging. Another easy and effective method of adding the logo to pack is for retailers to work with their suppliers and request the addition of the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo. Most dried fruits and vegetables have also historically met the nutrition criteria. For those few fruit and vegetable products not meeting the criteria, PBH offers an easy solution — Approved use of the ‘Proud Supporter of Fruits & Veggies—More Matters’ logo. Given it’s

the same logo, with the addition of simple copy, consumers rarely notice the difference thereby minimalizing or removing any potential, negative impact on sales.

News You Can UseIn a nationally representative study of nearly 2,300 preschool children

between the ages of 2-5 year, researchers explored the relationship

between regular consumption of 100% fruit juice and the presence of

cavities. (Children in this particular study had 1.17 cavities on average).

All children were required to undergo a dental examination and their

child’s dietary intake in a 24-hour dietary recall, including questions

specifically about how much and how often 100% fruit juice was served

to their children.

This study found that children who were regularly given 100%

fruit juice did not have a higher number of cavities, and

demonstrated that the association between 100% fruit juice

consumption and cavities is insignificant in children. Parents can

feel confident in serving 100% fruit juice to their children as part

of a balanced, nutritious diet.

In a recent analysis of several studies, increased vegetable intake was

associated with a decreased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the

most common type of liver cancer.1 Researchers analyzed 19 studies that

included over one million participants to explore the impact of vegetable

intake on HCC. What they found is that with every half cup increase in

vegetables in the participant’s diets, their risk of HCC decreased by 8%.

If you’re interested in reducing your risk of HCC, add eating

vegetables to your to-do list. Researchers are constantly

discovering new ways that vegetables and fruits help protect the

body against diseases, and protecting your liver against HCC

is yet another reason to add more of these nutritionally dense,

vitamin- and antioxidant- filled foods to your diet.
