“Our strategy is to repurpose existing tool sets which are largely depreciated and purchase missing capabilities primarily through the secondary market.” – Gareth Bignell Equipment Purchasing Director at STMicroelectronics [Source: SEMI] Magnum*–DFT Specially Configured Magnum* Magnum*–DFT is a specially configured Magnum* Test system that uses NorthStar’s SAB2.0 Upgrade and Sidekick-PMA instrument, repurposed, for BIST, JTAG and Structural Test. Magnum*–DFT is intended for testing devices for the Internet of Things (IoT). Magnum*–DFT helps address the cost and test implementation challeng- es as devices become more and more complex. The system can be configured from 256 up to 2560 channels and is highly recommend- ed for MCU, FPGA, CPLD, and SoC devices that are anywhere from 64 to 512 IO pins. Magnum*–DFT Site Architecture is shown in Figure 1 with an HSB that has been upgraded with SAB 2.0 and 4 Sidekick–PMA instruments. A recent customer evaluation demonstrates as much as 37% test time reduction as shown in Figure 2 on a Magnum*–DFT compared with a popular test platform in the market today. Magnum*–DFT significantly lowers the cost of capital either thru Acquisition or by Repurposing a depreciated Magnum Test System. (Figure 3). Magnum*–DFT offers higher throughput, shorter test times, and better performance and absolutely lowers Cost of Capital than any other ATE out in the market today. Figure 1.
