message from the founder

As citizens of this diverse nation and of the global community, we share one common goal

which is to bridge the cultural divide and to build and nurture sustainable relations that are

mutually beneficial from an economic, trade and security standpoint. To achieve this aspira-

tion, strong, competent leaders with leadership qualities such as empathy, pragmatism, and

consensus are some common denominators which are critical in these challenging times.

While each of us understands that ‘education’ is the single most important component

to building vibrant economies and resilient democracies, it is unfortunate that in emer-

ging countries, this is translated to include only literacy and support for existing systems

of rote learning. Rather than ‘educated’ leaders, what Indonesia lacks today is analytical,

know ledgeable and responsible leadership. Currently, our education system has not

sufficiently delivered and produced the required and consistent supply of enlightened leaders

who are intellectually, morally and ethically dedicated to the greater good of our society.

The Foundation’s primary mission is now dedicated to the development of future lead-

ers for Indonesia to meet the challenges of global participation. We believe that through

education, we can create thinkers and leaders with the moral integrity to break the cy-

cles of po verty, ignorance and disease that many assistance programs have treated on an ad-

hoc basis for the last 50 years. You will find in this report, our many innovative programs

aimed at achieving this and with long-term, sustainable solutions.

I believe that we are at a remarkable point in the political life of our planet and certainly

Sebagai warga dari negara yang bhinneka ini dan juga dari komuni-tas dunia, kita mempunyai tujuan yang sama yaitu menjemba tani per-bedaan budaya serta membangun dan mengembangkan hubungan yang berkesinambungan dan juga saling meng untungkan da-lam per dagangan, ekonomi dan keamanan. Untuk mencapainya, pemimpin- pemimpin yang tegar dan kompeten, dengan kualitas kepemimpin an seperti empati, pragmatisme serta mampu mem-bangun konsensus, sangat dibutuh-kan di masa penuh tantangan ini. Kita paham bahwa pendidikan merupakan komponen terpenting dalam membangun perekonomian yang dinamis dan demokrasi yang

tangguh, maka sangat disayang-kan bahwa ‘pendidikan’ di negara berkembang identik hanya dengan pemberantas an buta aksara dan pemberian dukungan terhadap sistem pembelajaran konvensional. Lebih dari sekadar pemimpin yang ‘berpendidikan’, Indonesia saat ini kekurangan kepemimpinan yang analitis, berwawasan, dan bertang-gung jawab. Sistem pendidikan nasional saat ini belum mampu se-cara konsisten memenuhi kebutuh an akan para pemimpin bijaksana yang secara intelektual, moral dan secara etika berdedikasi terhadap kepentingan masyarakat Indonesia. Misi utama Putera Sampoerna Foundation saat ini difokuskan pada pengembangan para pemimpin

ma sa depan Indonesia yang mampu menghadapi tantangan di kancah global. Kami percaya, melalui pen-didikan kita dapat membentuk para pemikir dan pemimpin berintegritas untuk mematahkan lingkaran kemiskinan, ketidaktahuan dan penyakit, yang selama 50 tahun ini hanya ditangani melalui program-program bantuan ad-hoc. The Leadership Journey

We can all look back with pride at what we have achieved in our core services through-

out 2009.

In our new Sampoerna Academies, we were able to successfully internationalize and

implement a new secondary school curriculum in partnership with local education au-

thorities, through the introduction of the International General Certificate for Second-

ary Education (IGCSE) in to the early years of secondary schooling. In September 2009,

we also successfully launched the Sampoerna School of Education, offering undergrad-

uate programs in pre-service teacher education based on high international standards

and with assistance from leading universities in Singapore and New Zealand.

Both of these initiatives have been significant milestones in the foundation’s pathway

to introducing internationalized education for young visionaries and leaders, while at

the same time helping to strengthen educational standards and quality in Indonesia.

As we enter 2010, we look forward to optimizing new opportunities around our core

services that will help to raise the quality of and standards of education in our areas of

operation. In reflecting on our successes in 2009, we are grateful to our donors and corpo-

rate partners for entrusting us to deliver high quality education programs on their behalf.

We look forward to continuing and growing these partnerships and making 2010

another year of mutual success in our pursuit of higher quality education for our new

Kami semua bangga akan pen ca-paian layanan-layanan utama kami selama tahun 2009. Kami telah berhasil mene-rapkan dan menginternasionali-sasikan suatu kurikulum baru untuk pendi dikan menengah di sekolah-sekolah Sampoerna Aca-demy baru kami. Pengenalan dan penerapan program International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) untuk tahun-tahun awal pendidikan menengah ini, dapat dilaksanakan berkat kerja sama dengan otoritas pendidikan setempat. Pada Sep-tember 2009, kami juga telah meluncurkan Sampoerna School of Education yang me na warkan program-program pendidikan S1

dalam bidang keguruan berdasar-kan standar internasional berkua-litas dan dengan bantuan dari universitas-universitas terkemuka di Singa pura dan Selandia Baru. Kedua inisiatif tersebut me-rupakan langkah awal penting dalam upaya Putera Sampoerna Foundation untuk memperkenalkan pendidik an bertaraf internasional kepada para pemimpin dan visi-oner muda. Pada saat yang bersa-maan, keduanya juga membantu untuk memperkuat standar dan kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia. Memasuki tahun 2010, kami berharap untuk dapat meman-faatkan secara optimal kesempa-tan-kesempatan baru di sekitar la yanan-layanan utama kami yang

akan meningkatkan standar dan kualitas pendidikan pada bidang operasio nal kami. Melihat kembali sukses kami selama 2009, kami patut ber te-rima kasih kepada para donor dan mitra korporasi yang telah membe-rikan kepercayaan mereka kepada kami untuk menyelenggara kan pro-gram-program pendidik an berkuali-tas tinggi atas nama mereka. Former President Commissioner of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and a number of its subsidiary companies. Mr. Sampoerna studied at the University of Houston, Texas, USA and has always had a passion for education. He founded the Putera Sampoerna Foundation in 2001 and has been involved in philanthropic works throughout ASEAN for over 25 years. He founded and currently directs the Sampoerna Stra-tegic Group, which has a global portfolio of diversified businesses.

Mantan Presiden Komisaris PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. dan beberapa perusahaan lainnya. Bapak Putera Sampoerna menimba ilmu di University of Houston, Texas, Amerika Serikat dan selalu memiliki kecintaan ter hadap dunia pendidikan. Beliau mendirikan Putera Sampoerna Foundation pada tahun 2001 dan telah ikut terlibat dalam kegiatan filantropi di berbagai wilayah di Asia Tenggara se-lama lebih dari 25 tahun. Beliau mendirikan dan mengendalikan Sampoerna Strategic Group yang memiliki portofolio global dari beragam jenis usaha.

Wife of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. She has been involved in charities and the family philanthropic activities throughout ASEAN for over 25 years. Mrs. Sampoerna has been the focal point of numerous company design initiatives for Sampoerna Family businesses as well as for Putera Sampoerna Founda-tion. She directed the establishment of the House of Sam-poerna in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Istri Bapak Putera Sampoerna. Beliau telah berperan aktif da-lam kegiatan amal maupun filantropi keluarga di Asia Tenggara selama lebih dari 25 tahun. Ibu Katie Sampoerna seringkali menjadi pencetus ide baru yang berkaitan dengan desain dalam bisnis Keluarga Sampoerna maupun Putera Sampoerna Foundation. Selain itu, beliau juga memimpin pendirian House of Sampoerna yang terletak di Surabaya, Indonesia.

The youngest son of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. Formerly President Director of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and President Commissioner of a number of its subsidiary companies, Mr. Sampoerna studied at the London School of Economics, UK. Currently, he is Sampoerna Strategic’s Head of Operations and functions as President Commissioner, and President Director of its many group of the companies.

Putra termuda dari Bapak Putera Sampoerna. Bapak Michael Sampoerna adalah mantan Presiden Direktur PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. dan Presiden Komisaris sejumlah anak perusahaannya. Beliau mengenyam pendidikan di London School of Econo mics, UK. Formerly the Group Chief Operating Officer and a Director for PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Mr. Frankel has worked over 25 years for the Sampoerna Group of companies. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Portland, Oregon, USA.

Mantan Chief Operating Officer dan Direktur PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Bapak Frankel telah bekerja lebih dari 25 tahun untuk per-usahaan-perusahaan Grup Sampoerna. Beliau memperoleh gelar Bachelor of Arts dari University of California di Berkeley dan gelar MBA dari University of Portland, Oregon, Amerika Serikat.

Mr. Barnes is the former General Counsel of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and was a member of the Board of Commissioners. He re-ceived a Bachelor of Science from Lewis & Clark College and a JD from the University of California. He worked for the Sampoerna Group of companies for over 25 years.

Bapak Barnes adalah mantan Penasehat dan Komisaris di PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Beliau memperoleh Bachelor of Science dari Lewis & Clark College dan JD dari University of California. Beliau telah bekerja lebih dari 25 tahun untuk perusaha an-perusahaan Grup Sampoerna.

James P. BarnesEdward Frankel

Eldest son of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. He has studied internation-ally, receiving his degree in Finance at Texas A&M University, USA. He worked in Hong Kong under the guidance of Dr. Marc Faber, international investment strategist. Mr. Jonathan Sampoerna also directed the business development arms of Sampoerna Family Trading Companies.

Putra tertua Bapak Putera Sampoerna. Menempuh studi di ber bagai negara dan memperoleh gelar di bidang keuangan dari Texas A&M University, Amerika Serikat. Beliau bekerja di Hong Kong di bawah asuhan Dr. Marc Faber yang terkenal se-bagai pakar internasional di bidang strategi investasi. Bapak Jonathan Sampoerna turut mengepalai pengembangan bisnis di se jumlah usaha perdagang an Keluarga Sampoerna.

Youngest daughter of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. She studied in Asia and the United States, receiving a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City, USA. Initially working with a fashion house in New York, Ms. Farah Sampoerna has taken a sabbatical to raise her sons.

Ibu Farah Sampoerna menimba ilmu di Asia dan Amerika Serikat dan mendapatkan gelar Fashion Design dan Merchandising dari Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, Amerika Serikat. Eldest daughter of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. Formerly Communications Manager at PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and Director of Sampoerna Jones Designs, Ms. Sampoerna studied internationally, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from St. Mary’s College in California. She was ‘on point’ with her father for all preliminary re-search and planning regarding Putera Sampoerna Foundation and has led the Foundation since its inception.

Putri tertua Bapak Putera Sampoerna. Sebelumnya beliau adalah Manajer Komunikasi di PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. dan Direktur Sampoerna Jones Designs. Ibu Michelle Sampoerna memperoleh gelar Bachelor of Arts di bidang Mass Communications dari St. Mary’s College, California, Amerika Serikat. Beliau membantu merealisasi-kan visi Bapak Putera Sampoerna melalui riset dan pe rencanaan pada awal pendirian Putera Sampoerna Foundation dan telah memimpin Yayasan ini sejak didirikan.

Mr. Sulistyo is a Commissioner of PT Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia and Commissioner of PT Sungai Rangit. He formerly served as the Indonesian Head of Production and Country Head of Myanmar for PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. He earned his Chemical Engineering degree from University of Dortmund, Germany.

Bapak Sulistyo menjabat sebagai Komisaris PT Sampoerna Teleko-munikasi Indonesia dan Komisaris PT Sungai Rangit. Sebelumnya, beliau menduduki posisi sebagai Kepala Produksi di Indonesia dan Kepala Regional Myanmar untuk PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Beliau mem-peroleh gelar Sarjana Teknik Kimia dari University of Dortmund, Jerman.

Ms. Rachmad is currently Direc-tor of Communication of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Previously, she established and directed one of the first private Indonesian public relations firms. Ms. Rachmad gradu-ated from the Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta with a degree in Physics and received a Diploma in Journalism from Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA.

Saat ini, Ibu Rachmad menjabat sebagai Direktur Komunikasi PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Sebelum nya, beliau mendirikan dan memimpin salah satu firma kehumasan swasta pertama di Indonesia. Beliau adalah lulus an dari Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta dengan gelar di bidang fisika dan memiliki diploma bidang jurnalistik dari Georgetown University, Washington DC, Amerika Serikat.

Formerly a Commissioner of PT HM Sam poerna Tbk. Mr. Kasih has spent over 25 years in Financial Control. He gradu ated from the Uni-versitas Indonesia with a bachelor degree in Economics and currently serves as an Economics lecturer at the same university. Mr. Kasih was the CFO of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and is currently an Independent Commissioner. He also serves as an executive of Sampoerna Strate-gic Group and President Director of PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk.

Beliau adalah mantan Komisaris PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. dan telah be kerja di bidang Pengawas an Keuangan lebih dari 25 tahun. Bapak Kasih adalah Sarjana Ekonomi dari Universitas Indonesia dan kini juga menjadi dosen di fakultas yang sama. Pernah menjabat sebagai CFO PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. kini beliau menjadi Komisaris Independen disana. Beliau juga menjabat sebagai eksekutif di Sampoerna Strategic Group dan Presi-den Direktur PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk.

Mr. Irawan is a Senior Partner-Head of Transactions Advisory Services at PT Ernst & Young Advisory Services (an affiliate of Ernst & Young Inter-national). He received his Bache lor of Science in Accounting from De La Salle University, Philippines.

Bapak Irawan adalah Partner Senior -Kepala Penasihat Pelayanan Tran-saksi di PT Ernst & Young Advisory Services (afiliasi Ernst & Young International). Beliau memperoleh gelar Bachelor of Science di bidang akuntansi dari De La Salle Univer-sity, Filipina.

Mr. Abbassi is currently CEO of icon-certo, a Business Process Outsour-cing company. Formerly he was the Chief Information Officer of the Sampoerna Strategic Group. Prior to that he was the Director of Information Technology for American Standard Asia-Pacific and prior to that, he was with Bankers Trust New York as the Wholesale Banking System Manager. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York and attend-ed MBA at Columbia University (NY).

Bapak Abassi adalah CEO iconcerto, sebuah perusahaan business process outsourcing. Sebelumnya, beliau men-jadi Chief Information Officer untuk Sampoerna Strategic Group, serta Direktur Teknologi Informasi American Standard Asia-Pacific. Beliau juga pernah men jabat sebagai Wholesale Banking System Manager di Bankers Trust New York. Beliau memperoleh gelar Bachelor of Science dari State University of New York dan mengikuti kuliah MBA di Columbia University (NY).

Formerly the Director of Corporate De-velopment for PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. Mr. Meeks worked for more than a decade in Asia and is currently Senior Vice President of Corporate Develop-ment at the McCoy Corporation based in Texas. He graduated with honors from Texas A&M University.

Bapak Meeks adalah mantan Direktur Pengembangan Perusahaan di PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. dan telah bekerja selama lebih dari satu dekade di Asia. Saat ini, beliau menjabat sebagai Senior Vice President di bagian Pengembangan Perusahaan di McCoy Corporation yang berbasis di Texas. Beliau lulus dan mendapat penghor-matan dari Texas A&M University.

Alexander Abbassi John N. Meeks

Mr. Surowidjojo is the founding partner of law firm Lubis, Ganie and Surowidjojo. He is a senior lecturer at the Law Faculty of Universitas Indonesia and one of the founders and the former chairperson of the Supervisory Board for Transparency International Indonesia. He received his bachelor’s degree in law from the Universitas Indonesia, and Mas-ter in Law from the University of Washington, USA.

Bapak Surowidjojo adalah mitra pendiri firma hukum Lubis, Ganie dan Surowidjojo. Beliau juga dosen senior di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia dan Ketua Dewan Penyantun Transparency Interna tional Indonesia. Beliau memperoleh gelar Sarjana Hukum dari Universitas Indonesia dan gelar pasca sarjana di bidang hu-kum dari University of Washington, Amerika Serikat.

Mr. Ginting began his professional career at PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Tbk. in 1997. His career progressed there on to the position of Vice Pre-s ident Trade Alliance in Singapore in 2000. He joined PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. in April 2002 and was a Director of Human Resources before assuming his current position as Director Cor-porate Affairs in 2008. He earned his PhD in Theoretical Chemistry at Univer-sity of Tasmania, Australia in 1997.

Bapak Ginting memulai karir profesi-onalnya di PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Tbk. pada tahun 1997. Karirnya terus menanjak hingga mencapai posisi Vice President Trade Alliance di Singapura pada tahun 2000. Beliau bergabung di PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. sejak April 2002 dan menjabat Direc-tor of Human Resources sebelum mengemban posisi Director Corporate Affairs pada tahun 2008. Gelar PhD bidang Theoretical Chemistry diraihnya dari University of Tasmania, Australia pada tahun 1997.

Former President of the Sampoerna Foundation Alumni Association (SFAA). He received Putera Sampoerna Foun-dation’s national graduate scholarship to obtain his Master of Manage-ment from Universitas Indonesia. He is now running his own business in the meat industry with his colleague.

Bapak Giripati adalah mantan Pre-siden Sampoerna Foundation Alumni Association (SFAA). Beliau menerima beasiswa pendidikan pasca sarjana nasional Putera Sampoerna Foun-dation dan telah memperoleh gelar S2 di bidang Manajemen dari Uni-versitas Indonesia. Sekarang, beliau menjalan kan bisnis daging bersama teman sejawatnya.

Mr. Stamboel is the Chairman of WWF Indonesia, the Supervisory member (Oversight Committee) of BRR Aceh and Nias, and founding member of MTI (the Indonesian Society for Trans-parency). He also serves as Indepen-dent Commissioner at PT Krakatau Steel, PT Merpa ti Nusantara Airlines, PT Holcim Indonesia Ltd. and PT Titan Kimia Nusantara Ltd. He received a Master of Science in Business Man-agement from the Management Insti-tute of Arthur D. Little, USA.

Bapak Stamboel adalah Ketua WWF Indonesia, anggota Dewan Peng a-was di BRR Aceh dan Nias, anggota pendiri MTI (Masyarakat Transpa ransi Indonesia), sekaligus menjadi Komisa-ris Independen untuk PT Krakatau Steel, PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, PT Holcim Indonesia Ltd. dan PT Titan Kimia Nusantara Ltd. Beliau mem-peroleh gelar Master of Science di bidang Business Management dari Management Institute of Arthur D. Little, Amerika Serikat.

Mr. Lin Che Wei is the founder of PT Inde pendent Research and Advi-sory Indonesia. He was formerly the CEO of Putera Sampoerna Foundation, before being appointed as a member of the Board of Supervisors. Prior to this, he served as President Director of PT Danareksa (Persero), Special Staff for the Coordinating Minister of Eco-nomics and Expert Staff of Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitas Trisakti, and an MBA from the National University of Singapore.

Bapak Lin Che Wei adalah pendiri PT Independent Research and Advisory Indonesia. Sebelum ditunjuk se bagai anggota Board of Supervisors, beliau menjabat sebagai CEO Putera Sam-poerna Foundation. Sebelumnya, beliau adalah Presiden Direktur PT Dana-reksa (Persero), Staf Khusus Menko Ekuin dan Staf Ahli Kementrian BUMN. Beliau memiliki gelar S1 dalam Teknik Industri, Universitas Trisakti dan MBA dari National University of Singapore.

Former President Director of Indo-Ad (Ogilvy & Mather), a leading adverti-sing agency. Followed by a career in the TV industry, leading TV stations such as ANTV, RCTI and O Channel. Ms. Soemawinata is both a qualified trainer and a leading professional in marketing, sales and communica-tions. She held a computer program-ming degree from the Auckland Technical Institute, New Zealand.

Eliezer Marthenny Kaeng, or usually called Thenny, grew up with his ordinary family in Salatiga,

a small town in Central Java. His father was a crew member of a vessel, carrying oil from one island to

another island in Indonesia. Coming from a working class family with none of his parents being college

educated, Thenny always strived for the best for his education. He graduated cum laude from Institut

Teknologi Bandung (Bandung Institute of Technology), majoring in Computer Science.

During his student years, he was actively involved in social activities and leadership roles such as

Chairman of Education Department of HMIF, National Science Week Committee, and local mentor at a lo-

cal youth club; as well as taking part in competitions, research seminars and forums.

Thenny was selected for an overseas MBA scholarship from the Putera Sampoerna Foundation in

2005 for a 2-year program at London Business School, University of London. During his first year of

study, he was on the Dean’s List for consistently achieving the top 10% of his class. In his last semester,

Thenny was selected to participate in an exchange program to the Leonard N. Stern School of Business

at New York University.

Since graduation, he has held key positions with EGlobal Technology, British Telecom and is current-

ly serving as the Vice President of Comexindo International.

Berasal dari keluarga dimana kedua orangtua nya tidak ada yang lulus sarjana, Thenny selalu berusaha untuk meraih yang terbaik dalam pendidikannya. Ia berhasil lulus dengan predikat cum laude dari Jurusan Ilmu Komputer, Institut Teknologi Bandung. Selama menjadi mahasiswa, Thenny sering terlibat aktif dalam berbagai aktivitas sosial dan berperan sebagai pemimpin, antara lain sebagai Ketua Departemen Pendidikan HMIF, Panitia Pekan Ilmiah Nasional dan menjadi mentor pada suatu organi sasi pemuda setempat. Ia juga turut serta dalam beberapa pertandingan, seminar riset dan forum. Pada tahun 2005, Thenny mengikuti seleksi dan mendapatkan beasiswa dari Putera Sampoerna Foundation untuk meng ikuti program MBA selama 2 (dua) tahun di London Business School, University of London. Pathway to Leadership

The Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) is the social-enterprise arm of the Sampoerna

Group. It is dedicated to improving education in Indonesia and creating a cadre of

young leaders. By supporting and supplementing government education programs

and initiatives, the Foundation focuses its resources towards developing future leaders

with moral integrity and a strong commitment to social justice.

Established in 2001, it has evolved from the granting of scholarships and providing

student assistance for financially disadvantaged youths. The Foundation is now involved

in the training of teachers and principals from state schools, the adoption of state schools

for quality improvement, the establishment of international-standard schools with board-

ing education (Sampoerna Academy) and is currently developing a world-class university.

With over 33,930 scholarships awarded, 14,000 teachers trained and 22 schools

adopted, the achievements of the Foundation have been officially recognized by the gov-

ernment with the granting of a license for Sampoerna School of Education as a pathway

toward the university. It was also recently granted a license as a collection agency and

religious-giving body for Islamic contributions.

The Putera Sampoerna Foundation is committed to transparency and accountability

in all its activities, with annual external audits conducted by third-party audit firms. The

Foundation was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for the efficient management systems.

Established an exe cutive MBA program in collaboration with the Institut Teknologi Bandung, offering MBA specializing in telecom-munications, energy and business law.

Recognizing the need for quality teachers, the Putera Sampoerna Foundation launched its Teacher Institute (SFTI). It was the first institute in Indonesia aimed at deve-lop ing and enhancing the professionalism and skills of teachers.

The Alumni Association (SFAA) and an internship program were established.

The cumulative number of scholarships awarded exceeded 12,000.

Established Sampoerna Academies in Malang and Palembang. These Academies provide deserving youths from the lowest economic quintile, a 3-year Cambridge-equi-valent accreditation in a boarding environment.

Launched the Sam poerna School of Education in Jakarta with its first intake of students.

Together with Bait Al-Kamil (House of Perfection), the Foundation was award-ed with a religious-giving license from the Islamic authority of Indonesia.

The Foundation was one of the first to arrive in Aceh Tsunami hit with disaster relief through an education recovery program that pro-vided tents, supplies and equipments so that schools could continue to operate.

Putera Sampoerna Foundation telah memberikan lebih dari 33.930 beasiswa kepada mereka yang memerlukan, dari tingkat sekolah dasar sampai perguruan tinggi. Para siswa dan mahasiswa harus dapat membuktikan prestasi akademis yang baik dan memiliki tanggung jawab sosial yang tinggi. Mereka harus menjalani pro ses penyaringan ketat yang meliputi tes akademik, seleksi psikologis, diskusi kelompok terfokus dan di-wawancarai oleh berbagai ahli. Pada tingkat perguruan tinggi, Putera Sampoerna Foundation

The Putera Sampoerna Foundation has granted more than 33,930 scholarships, from

elementary to graduate levels, to financially deserving students across Indonesia.

These students must exhibit good academic performance and a strong sense of social

responsibility. These scholars had to undergo a stringent qualification process which

included academic tests, psychological profiling, focus discussion groups and inter-

views by various experts.

At the tertiary level, the Foundation offers scholarships for overseas MBA programs

at prestigious universities such as the Harvard Business School, Haas School of Busi-

ness, Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and other leading business schools

across the globe.

This program also provided financial support in the form of student loans for

undergraduate and post-graduate students which were a joint effort between Bank

Internasional Indonesia (BII), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Putera

Sampoerna Foundation.

As part of the program, the Foundation provides a support infrastructure for

scholars to participate in. This includes the Putera Sampoerna Foundation’s Scholar’s

Club, which promotes participation in social activities to benefit the community, and

the alumni network, which supports continuous service and contribution to society.

The Putera Sampoerna Foundation continues to develop the support system that allows

access to high level education for chosen individuals.

The year 2009 saw the Foundation’s strengthening programs in scholarship-giving.

In relations to the new direction on preparing global leaders in Indonesia, program im-

provement methods have been taking place.

As part of the efforts on supporting Sampoerna Academy and Sampoerna School

of Education programs, for example, the Foundation further developed methods

to getting top-notch applicants that best represent local regions. While the academies

are the home of students from all regencies in the province, the Sampoerna School of

Education has welcomed potential scholars from all over Indonesia.

From other perspectives, existing scholars that have been receiving scholarships

have continued to show their remarkable progress. Our scholars won prestigious

international competitions such as at the International Mathematics Competition (IMC),

Hungary and at the 2009 Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) held at Haas

School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, USA.

Sebagai bagian dari upaya un-tuk mendukung program-program

yang dijalankan oleh Sampoerna Academy dan Sampoerna School of Education, Putera Sampoerna Foundation telah mengembangkan lebih lanjut metode-metode untuk mendapatkan calon-calon terbaik yang pantas mewakili daerah masing-masing. Jika Sampoerna Academy merupakan rumah untuk siswa dari seluruh daerah di propinsi, maka Sampoerna School of Education menerima para pelajar berpotensi dari seluruh Indonesia. Di sisi lain, para siswa yang pada saat ini menerima beasiswa terus menunjukkan perkembangan yang luar biasa. Para siswa kami

telah berhasil meraih kemenang-an dalam perlombaan-perlombaan internasional bergengsi seperti International Mathematics Competition (IMC) di Hungaria dan Global Social Venture Competiti on (GSVC) 2009 yang diadakan di Haas School of Busi-ness, University of California at Berkeley, Amerika Serikat.

In support of the Ministry of National Education initiative for International Standard

Schools (Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional), the Foundation embarked on a complementa-

ry effort to provide deserving teens from the lowest economic quintile access to a world

class secondary education through its Academies.

This program was designed to provide access to international-standard education

for poor, yet gifted young people, and to create opportunities to develop their leadership

potential, critical thinking, and awareness of national and global issues. A boarding

system allows the Academy to teach not only academic and leadership skills, but more

importantly, impart to them the value system of morality, empathy, tolerance and social

consciousness necessary to facilitate the development of future young leaders.

Each academy has a student body comprised of selected teenagers from the top 5%

of performing students enrolled in state junior high schools, taught by high-quality

teachers and an international English-based curriculum to qualify for entry into any

leading university in the English speaking world.

This year, the Putera Sampoerna Foundation launched 2 academies—one in

Malang and the other in Palembang—with the support of donors from the surrounding

community as well as the local governments. The aim is to have one academy in every

province within the next 10 years.

Program ini dirancang untuk memberikan akses pendidikan tingkat internasional bagi remaja kurang mampu yang berbakat dan untuk menciptakan kesempatan bagi mereka dalam mengem-bangkan potensi kepemimpinan,

cara berpikir yang kritis dan kesadaran terhadap masalah-masalah nasional maupun global. Dengan adanya fasilitas as rama, Sampoerna Academy mampu meng ajarkan tidak hanya keterampil an akademis dan kepemimpinan, melainkan juga menanamkan nilai-nilai kehidupan seperti moralitas, empati, tole-ransi dan kesadaran sosial yang diperlukan dalam pengembangan para pemimpin muda masa depan. Setiap Sampoerna Academy terdiri dari para siswa terpilih yang termasuk 5% tertinggi secara akademis dari sekolah-sekolah menengah negeri. Para pengajar terdiri dari guru-guru berkualitas

tinggi dan proses pembelajar annya menerapkan kurikulum interna-sional berbahasa Inggris agar para siswa dapat memenuhi syarat untuk masuk ke setiap universitas ternama berbahasa Inggris di dunia. Tahun ini Putera Sampoerna Foundation telah membuka 2 Sampoerna Academy dengan dukungan peme rintah daerah serta bantuan dari para donor setempat, masing-masing di Malang dan Palembang. Harapan Putera Sampoerna Foundation dalam 10 tahun mendatang ada-lah untuk dapat mendirikan satu Sampoerna Academy di setiap propinsi Indonesia.

This school-quality-improvement program provides teacher and staff training and

develop ment, plans exchanges and study visits for students and teachers, and promotes

the use of spoken and written English. The program engages all stakeholders within the

school community and school management including teaching and administrative staff,

students, and the local community.

With best-practice methodologies and tools, developed in partnership with the

Sampoerna School of Education, the program uses baseline studies and assessments,

to determine and define the ‘as-is’ and the ‘to-be’ scenarios. From here, school manage-

ment and development is designed to better meet the student’s needs for leadership

development.

Using key-quality-benchmark indicators to track and monitor each school’s perfor-

mance, this program has been implemented in 17 state high schools and 5 Madrasah

(Islamic schools) over the past 5 years. Usually two to three years in duration, these

schools typically experienced advancements in students’ scores in English, Mathematics,

and Economics. The national rankings of these schools also improved significantly.

Program peningkatan kualitas sekolah ini menyediakan pelatihan dan pengembangan bagi guru dan staf, merencanakan kunjungan per-tukaran dan studi bagi siswa dan guru serta mendorong penggunaan bahasa Inggris secara lisan mau-pun tulisan. Program ini melibatkan semua pemangku kepentingan yang ada dalam suatu komunitas sekolah seperti para staf peng-ajar, staf administratif, siswa dan masyarakat disekitarnya. Dengan menggunakan metodo-logi dan peralatan terbaik dalam bi-

dangnya yang dikembangkan bersa-ma kemitraan dengan Sampoerna School of Education, program ini melaksanakan studi-studi dan penilaian untuk mengukur dan mendefinisikan keadaan-keadaan ‘saat ini’ dan ‘yang diharapkan.’ Dari landasan ini, manajemen dan pengembang an sekolah dirancang agar dapat lebih baik memenuhi kebutuhan para siswa untuk pengembangan kepemimpinan. Dengan menggunakan indi-kator-indikator standar kualitas utama untuk memantau kinerja

dari setiap sekolah, program ini telah diterapkan pada 17 SMA Negeri dan 5 Madrasah selama 5 tahun terakhir. Dalam penera-pan yang biasanya berlangsung selama 2 sampai 3 tahun, seko-lah-sekolah tersebut umumnya menunjukkan peningkatan nilai siswa dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris, Matematika dan Ekonomi. Selain itu, peringkat nasional dari sekolah-sekolah ini juga meng-alami peningkatan yang signifikan.

With the aim of addressing the needs of Indonesia and its population, the Putera

Sam poerna Foundation embarked on building an international-standard university

which would support the development of future leaders to help the country realize its

full potential. Supplementing the government’s education initiatives, the Foundation

focuses on providing deserving teens from the lowest economic quintile with a world-

class tertiary education that will develop them into competent leaders of moral integrity

and committed to social justice. As a key component of Putera Sampoerna’s “Pathway to

Leadership” strategy, the University is designed to be a microcosm of a leading American

university. The ultimate aim is to establish a university that will eventually become a

world-class higher-education model for Indonesia with best practices and a strong inter-

national and local faculty that will accommodate young visionaries and potential leaders

who contribute to society and economic development.

This will be done through the formation of a consortium with other world-class

universities, each investing, separately or jointly, an equity stake and taking the lead in

their respective areas of specialization and school disciplines.

This will allow the University to provide affordable, quality tertiary education for the

financially disadvantaged, allowing them access to international programs and faculty,

real-world experience, research & development facilities, leading-edge technology, private

sector engagement and life-long learning opportunities through distributed learning.

The School of Education (SSE) was established in September 2009 as the initial college

in the larger university project. As a tertiary institution that offers a 4-year undergra-

duate bachelor of education degree, SSE provides innovative forms of curriculum and

delivery strategies for teacher education.

With the aim of attracting the highest quality students to become leading educa-

tors in society with an appropriate mix of strong academics and personal qualities,

the School positioned itself to set the highest standards for future leaders in their

profession. Graduates will possess quality teaching skills and best practices, making

them highly employable and in demand.

Leveraging on the past successes of the Sampoerna Foundation Teacher Institute

(with more than 14,000 teachers and principals trained), the SSE became the first private

teacher institute in Indonesia to implement an international quality curriculum using

modern teaching methodologies. Through strategic partnerships and alliances with

the National Institute of Education, Singapore’s premier center for teacher training,

the Principal’s Academy of Singapore and Edith Cowan University, Australia, the SSE

aims to become the Asia Pacific centre of excellence for teacher education and innovation

in the near future.

Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) didirikan pada bulan September 2009 sebagai suatu bagian awal dari proyek universitas yang lebih besar. SSE merupakan lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang menawarkan program S1 selama 4 tahun untuk bidang pendidikan dengan gelar sarjana dalam bidang pendidikan. Lembaga pendidik an ini juga menyelenggarakan bentuk-bentuk strategi inovatif dalam kurikulum dan pe ngajaran untuk pendidikan guru. One of the strongest assets of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) is its ability

to garner external support for its programs. By advocating and promoting strong

Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) both locally and internationally, the Foundation

actively seeks the commitment of all interested stakeholders who share the vision.

Equipped with professional fund-raising capabilities and resources, PSF is able to

harness the participation and financial support of the relevant government bodies, the

private sector and other interest groups to support education programs which benefit the

communities in which they operate. With its international networks and global reach,

PSF is able to pull together all available resources to leverage economies of scale in order

to make a bigger impact as well as to create more significant long-term results.

This year, 17 new corporations, both local and multi-national, along with 8 govern-

ment partners began their partnership with the Foundation in support of education.

This raised the total number of corporate partners to over 167 stretching from South East

Asia to Europe and the US. From 2007 to 2009 we also noted 1.222 individuals who either

contributed through donations or through active participation. Since its inception

in 2001, the Foundation has been entrusted with more than US$ 56M in contributions.

Putera Sampoerna Foundation continues to believe that the challenges of educa-

tion quality and access for underprivileged youths in Indonesia can only be resolved with

the support and collaboration of partners and contributors.

Bait Al-Kamil adalah suatu lem-baga pengumpul dana berlisensi yang telah mendapat persetu-juan dari Badan Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) untuk mengumpulkan dan menghimpun segala bentuk dana yang disyaratkan secara hukum Syariah (seperti zakat, waqaf dan semacamnya) dari masyarakat Islam untuk program-program kepedulian dan ke-sejahteraan sosial

Melalui kerjasama dengan mitra penggalangan dana seperti Bait Al-Kamil (Rumah Kesem purnaan), Putera Sampo-

erna Foundation akan mampu menghimpun, memanfaatkan dan menggunakan dana dan kontribusi dari pemangku kepenting an di seluruh dunia . Ini diperlukan agar suatu perubahan berkesi nambungan dapat terjadi untuk mencipta-kan negara yang damai dan majemuk melalui program pengembangan sekolah Islam, pusat pengembangan wanita dan program perbaikan kualitas pendidikan Islam. Bersama dengan mitra-mitra tersebut, Putera Sampoerna

Foundation telah mengembang-kan program-program yang dirancang bagi pendi dik an komunitas Islam yang kurang mampu, kesetaraan jender dan juga pemberdayaan perempuan; di samping inisiatif-inisiatif per-baikan komunitas lain seperti infrastruktur, bantuan bencana, kesehatan dan pendanaan mikro.

The Bait Al-Kamil is a licensed collection agency approved by the National Reli gious

Body (BAZNAS) to collect all forms of religious tithing required by “Syariah” law

(such as “zakat”, “waqaf” and the like) from the Islamic community for contribu-

tions to charity and social welfare programs.

Through collaboration with fund-raising partners such as the Bait Al-Kamil

(House of Perfection), the Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) will be able to pool,

harness and activate the funds and contributions of concerned stakeholders around

the world. This is necessary in order to make a sustainable difference in the promotion

of a pluralistic and peaceful nation through our islamic schools, women centers and

islamic education quality improvement programs.

Together with these partners, PSF has developed specific programs designed to

reach the Islamic community in the areas of education for financially-lacking Muslims,

gender equality and women’s empowerment; as well as other community welfare initia-

tives such as disaster relief, infrastructure, healthcare and microfinance.

Established 2 (two) Sampoerna Academies in Malang and Palembang. These Academies provide deserving teens from the lowest economic quintile, a 3-year senior high school education with a Cambridge equi-valent accreditation in a boarding environment.

Under its university initiative, launched the Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) in Jakarta to begin granting education and teaching degrees.

PSF expanded the scope of its social enterprise initiatives to include gender equality and women’s empowerment through the formation of “Yayasan Sahabat Wanita” (Friends of Women Foundation).

Contribution and EarningsBy years-end 2009, Putera Sampoerna Foundation recorded a significant increase in contributions and earnings received from Rp 132.11 billion in 2008 to Rp 181.81 billion in 2009, of which Rp 73.71 billion was restricted and Rp 108.10 billion was unrestricted. (See Figure 1).

Sumbangan dan PenghasilanPada akhir tahun 2009, Putera Sampoerna Foundation mencatat peningkatan total sumbangan dan penghasilan sebesar Rp 132,11 miliar di tahun 2008 menjadi Rp 181,81 miliar di tahun 2009, dari dana tersebut Rp 73,71 miliar adalah dana yang terbatas pengguna annya dan Rp 108,10 miliar merupakan dana yang tidak terbatas penggunaannya. In 2009 and 2008, Mr Putera Sampoerna and PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (HMS) are the main donors of Putera Sampoerna Foundation.

As a not-for-profit organization, Putera Sampoerna

Foundation has the obligation to provide a reliable

financial report to its donors. Therefore, the Foundation

has adopted standard accounting policies and presents

all of its Financial Reports based on the Indonesian

Financial Accounting Standards (PSAK 45), the rules for

Financial Reporting for Non-Profit Organizations, and

the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Putera Sampoerna Foundation also applies the

financial terms of Standard for Charitable Accountability

(The BBB Wise Giving Alliance), which is accepted as

the international guideline for governance and operation

of a non-profit organization and the disbursement and

distribution of all grants.

Sebagai organisasi nirlaba, Putera Sampoerna Foundation berkewajiban memberikan laporan keuangan yang bertanggung jawab kepada para donatur, oleh karena itu Yayasan menerapkan standar umum yang berlaku, termasuk Pedoman Standar Akuntansi Keuangan Indonesia (PSAK 45), peraturan keuangan bagi Organisasi Nirlaba, dan sesuai dengan Prinsip-Prinsip Akuntansi Yang Berlaku Umum (GAAP)

Contribution and Earnings AllocationsIn the period from January to December 2009, Putera Sampoerna Foundation allocated its contributions and earnings received to support its program expenses amounted to Rp 51.39 billion. Sponsored programs in the amount of Rp 46.44 billion and general and administrative expenses amounted to Rp 42.68 billion. The remaining balance of Rp 41.30 billion is allocated to strengthen Putera Sampoerna Foundation net assets. (increase in net assets).

PSF Sponsored Program ExpensesIn the value of grants distributed, Putera Sampoerna Foundation has allocated its fund to support program expenses which amounted to Rp 51.39 billion and Rp 63.99 billion in 2009 and 2008 respectively. (See figure 2).

Others non scholarship program expenses consists of Alumni Affairs, Research and Program Development, SEER (School Establishment & Education Recovery Program), and Unit Pelayanan Zakat (UPZ)-Bait Al-Kamil.

Donors-Sponsored ProgramsPutera Sampoerna Foundation has allocated the funds from its donors to sponsor some of its programs. The value of donors-sponsored program has increased tremendously from Rp 23.21 billion in 2008 to Rp 46.44 billion in 2009. (See Figure 3).

1. UMUM

Yayasan Putera Sampoerna (“Yayasan”) didirikan di Indonesia pada

tanggal 1 Maret 2001 berdasarkan Akta Notaris No. 1 dari Sutjipto,

S.H. Akta pendirian tersebut telah diumumkan dalam Berita Negara

No. 64, Tambahan No. 161 tanggal 10 Agustus 2001. Perubahan

terakhir dengan Akta Notaris No. 10 dari Chandra Lim, S.H., L.LM

tanggal 28 Desember 2009 mengenai perubahan susunan Pengawas

dan Pengurus Yayasan.

Jumlah kekayaan bersih awal Yayasan adalah sebesar Rp 28,8 miliar

yang terdiri dari sumbangan PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna, Tbk.

(HMS) sebesar Rp 27,0 miliar dan sumbangan Putera Sampoerna

sebesar Rp 1,8 miliar.

Usaha yang dijalankan Yayasan antara lain, menyelenggarakan

pendidikan dan penelitian termasuk penyediaan beasiswa dan

mendukung kegiatan-kegiatan sosial, memelihara hubungan dengan

lembaga-lembaga pendidikan dan institusi penelitian dan meningkatkan

pertanggungjawaban keuangan dan administrasi untuk kegiatan

pendidikan dan penelitian. Yayasan memberikan Program Beasiswa bagi

para pelajar yang memenuhi syarat untuk Pendidikan Sekolah Dasar

sampai dengan Pendidikan Doktoral.

Yayasan dan Anak Perusahaan berdomisili di Jakarta. Jumlah karyawan

tetap Yayasan dan anak perusahaan pada tanggal 31 Desember 2009

dan 2008 masing-masing adalah 256 dan 208 karyawan.

Pada tahun 2009 dan 2008, Putera Sampoerna dan HMS me rupakan

penyumbang dana utama Yayasan.

1. GENERAL

Yayasan Putera Sampoerna (the Foundation) was established in

Indonesia on March 1, 2001 based on Notarial Deed No. 1 of Sutjipto,

S.H. The Deed of Establishment was published in State Gazette No.

64 Supplement No. 161 dated August 10, 2001. The last amendment

has been made with Notarial Deed No. 10 of Chandra Lim, S.H., L.LM

dated December 28, 2009 concerning the changes in Foundation’s

Supervisor and management.

The initial net worth (kekayaan bersih) of the Foundation was Rp 28.8

billion consisting of contributions from PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna,

Tbk. (HMS) of Rp 27.0 billion and contributions from Mr. Putera

Sampoerna of Rp 1.8 billion.

The scope of activities of the Foundation comprises of, among others,

education and research including providing scholarship and supporting

social activities, maintaining the relationship with other educational

and research institutions and improving the financial responsibility and

administration for the education and research activities. The Foundation

awards qualified students under its Scholarship Programs, Elementary

to Post-Graduate Studies.

The Foundation and its Subsidiary are domiciled in Jakarta. At December

31, 2009 and 2008, the Foundation and its Subsidiary had 256 and

208 permanent employees, respectively.

In 2009 and 2008, Mr. Putera Sampoerna and HMS are the main donors

of the Foundation.

Pada bulan Pebruari 2007, Yayasan mendirikan anak perusahaan,

PT Sampoerna Education (anak perusahaan), dengan kepemilikan

saham sebesar 99%. Anak perusahaan merupakan subyek pajak yang

berkontribusi dalam memberikan dana untuk mencapai tujuan dari

induk perusahaannya, Yayasan, dalam melayani kepentingan publik.

Anak perusahaan berorientasi laba, dan bergerak dalam penyediaan

kursus bahasa.

b. Interpretasi Standar Akuntansi Keuangan (ISAK) berikut ini telah

ini terhadap laporan keuangan konsolidasi.

3. IKHTISAR KEBIJAKAN AKUNTANSI PENTING

a. Penyajian Laporan Keuangan Konsolidasi

Laporan keuangan konsolidasi disusun dengan menggunakan

prinsip dan praktek akuntansi yang berlaku umum di Indonesia.

Dasar penyusunan laporan keuangan konsolidasi, kecuali untuk

laporan arus kas konsolidasi adalah dasar akrual. Mata uang

pelaporan yang digunakan untuk penyusunan laporan keuangan

konsolidasi adalah mata uang Rupiah Indonesia, dan laporan

keuangan tersebut disusun berdasarkan nilai historis, kecuali

beberapa akun tertentu disusun berdasarkan pengukuran lain

sebagaimana diuraikan dalam kebijakan akuntansi masing- masing

akun tersebut.

Laporan arus kas konsolidasi disusun dengan menggunakan

on the consolidated financial statements.

3. SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES

a. Consolidated Financial Statements Presentation

The consolidated financial statements have been prepared using

accounting principles and reporting practices generally accepted in

Indonesia. Such consolidated financial statements are not intended

to present the financial position, result of activities and cash flows

in accordance with accounting principles and reporting practices

generally accepted in other countries and jurisdictions.

The consolidated financial statements, except for the consolidated

statement of cash flows, are prepared under the accrual basis of

accounting. The reporting currency used in the preparation of the

consolidated financial statements is the Indonesian Rupiah while

the measurement basis used is the historical cost, except for

certain accounts which are measured on the bases described in the

related accounting policies.

The consolidated statements of cash flows are prepared using the

direct method with classifications of cash flows into operating and

investing activities.

b. Prinsip Konsolidasi

Laporan keuangan konsolidasi menggabungkan laporan keuangan

Yayasan dan entitas yang dikendalikan oleh Yayasan yang disusun

sampai dengan 31 Desember setiap tahunnya. Pengendalian

dianggap ada apabila Yayasan mempunyai hak untuk mengatur

dan menentukan kebijakan finansial dan operasional dari investee

untuk memperoleh manfaat dari aktivitasnya. Pengendalian juga

dianggap ada apabila Yayasan memiliki baik secara langsung atau

tidak langsung melalui anak perusahaan lebih dari 50% hak suara.

Hak pemegang saham minoritas dinyatakan sebesar bagian minoritas

dari biaya perolehan historis aktiva bersih. Hak minoritas akan

disesuaikan untuk bagian minoritas dari perubahan ekuitas. Kerugian

yang menjadi bagian minoritas melebihi hak minoritas dialokasikan

kepada bagian Yayasan.

Seluruh transaksi signifikan antar anak perusahaan, saldo,

penghasilan dan beban dieliminasi pada saat konsolidasi.

c. Transaksi dan Saldo Dalam Mata Uang Asing

Pembukuan Yayasan dan Anak Perusahaan diselenggarakan dalam

mata uang Rupiah. Transaksi-transaksi selama tahun berjalan

dalam mata uang asing dicatat dengan kurs yang berlaku pada

saat terjadinya transaksi. Pada tanggal laporan posisi keuangan,

aktiva dan kewajiban moneter dalam mata uang asing disesuaikan

untuk mencerminkan kurs yang berlaku pada tanggal tersebut.

Keuntungan atau kerugian kurs yang timbul dikreditkan atau

dibebankan dalam laporan aktivitas tahun yang bersangkutan.

d. Penggunaan Estimasi

Penyusunan laporan keuangan konsolidasi sesuai dengan prinsip

akuntansi yang berlaku umum di Indonesia mengharuskan

manajemen membuat estimasi dan asumsi yang mempengaruhi

jumlah aktiva dan kewajiban yang dilaporkan dan pengungkapan

aktiva dan kewajiban kontinjensi pada tanggal laporan keuangan

konsolidasi serta jumlah pendapatan dan beban selama

periode pelaporan. Realisasi dapat berbeda dengan jumlah yang

diestimasi.

e. Kas dan Setara Kas

Kas dan setara kas terdiri dari kas, bank dan semua investasi

yang jatuh tempo dalam waktu tiga bulan atau kurang dari tanggal

penempatannya dan yang tidak dijaminkan.

f. Investasi Jangka Pendek

Deposito berjangka yang jatuh tempo lebih dari tiga bulan sejak

tanggal penempatan yang akan terealisasi dalam satu tahun dari

tanggal neraca diklasifikasikan sebagai “Investasi Jangka Pendek”.

g. Biaya Dibayar Dimuka

Biaya dibayar dimuka diamortisasi selama manfaat masing-masing

biaya dengan menggunakan metode garis lurus.

h. Aktiva Tetap

Aktiva tetap yang digunakan dalam produksi atau penyediaan barang

dan jasa atau untuk tujuan administrasi dinyatakan berdasarkan biaya

perolehan dikurangi dengan akumulasi depresiasi dan akumulasi

kerugian penurunan nilai aktiva.

Penyusutan dihitung dengan menggunakan metode garis lurus

berdasarkan estimasi masa manfaat ekonomis aktiva, yaitu empat

tahun untuk komputer, perabotan, peralatan dan perlengkapan kantor,

dan lima tahun untuk kendaraan.

Estimasi masa manfaat, nilai sisa dan metode depresiasi aktiva

ditinjau kembali setiap akhir tahun dengan dampak dari perubahan

dalam estimasi dihitung dengan dasar prospektif.

Beban pemeliharaan dan perbaikan dibebankan pada laporan

aktivitas pada saat terjadinya; pengeluaran yang memperpanjang

masa manfaat atau meningkatkan manfaat ekonomis di masa yang

akan datang dikapitalisasi. Nilai tercatat aktiva tetap yang sudah

tidak digunakan lagi atau yang dijual dikeluarkan dari kelompok

aktiva tetap berikut akumulasi penyusutannya. Keuntungan atau

kerugian dari penjualan aktiva tetap tersebut dibukukan dalam

laporan aktivitas konsolidasi pada tahun yang bersangkutan.

Aset dalam penyelesaian dinyatakan sebesar biaya perolehan. Biaya

perolehan tersebut termasuk biaya pinjaman yang terjadi selama

masa pembangunan yang timbul dari hutang yang digunakan untuk

pembangunan aset tersebut. Akumulasi biaya perolehan akan

dipindahkan ke masing-masing aset tetap yang bersangkutan pada

saat selesai dan siap digunakan.

b. Principles of Consolidation

The consolidated financial statements incorporate the financial

statements of the Foundation and the entity controlled by the

Foundation made up to December 31 each year. Control is achieved

where the Foundation has the power to govern the financial and

operating policies of the investee entity so as to obtain benefits from

its activities. Control is also presumed to exist when the Foundation

owns directly or indirectly through subsidiaries, more than 50% of the

voting rights.

The interest of the minority shareholders is stated at the minority’s

proportion of the historical cost of the net assets. The minority

interest is subsequently adjusted for the minority’s share of

movements in equity. Any losses applicable to the minority interest

in excess of the minority interest are allocated against the interests

of the Foundation.

All significant intra-group transactions, balances, income, and

expenses are eliminated on consolidation.

c. Foreign Currency Transactions and Balances

The books of accounts of the Foundation and its Subsidiary are

maintained in Indonesian Rupiah. Transactions during the year

involving currencies other than Indonesian Rupiah are recorded at the

rates of exchange prevailing at the time the transactions are made.

At balance sheet dates, monetary assets and liabilities denominated

in currencies other than Indonesian Rupiah are adjusted to reflect

the rates of exchange prevailing at that date. The resulting gains or

losses are credited or charged to current activities.

d. Use of Estimates

The preparation of consolidated financial statements in conformity

with accounting principles generally accepted in Indonesia requires

management to make estimates and assumptions that affect

the reported amounts of assets and liabilities and disclosure of

contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the consolidated

financial statements and the reported amounts of revenues and

expenses during the reporting period. Actual results could be

different from these estimates.

e. Cash and Cash Equivalents

Cash and cash equivalents consist of cash on hand and in banks,

and all unpledged investments with maturities of three months or

less from the date of placement.

f. Short-Term Investments

Time deposits with maturities of more than three months at the time

of placement that are realizable within one year from balance sheet

date are considered as “Short-Term Investments.”

g. Prepaid Expenses

Prepaid expenses are amortized over their beneficial periods using

the straight-line method.

h. Property and Equipment

Property and equipment held for use in the production or supply

of goods or services, or for administrative purposes, are stated

at cost, less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated

impairment loss.

Depreciation is computed using the straight-line method based

on the estimated useful life of the assets of four years for

computers, office furniture, fixtures and equipment, and five years

for vehicle.

The estimated useful lives, residual values and depreciation method

are reviewed at each year end, with the effect of any changes in

estimated accounted for on a prospective basis.

The cost of maintenance and repairs is charged to statement of

activities as incurred; expenditures which extend the useful life

of the asset or result in increased future economic benefits are

capitalized. When assets are retired or otherwise disposed of,

their carrying values and the related accumulated depreciation

and any accumulated impairment loss are removed from the

accounts and any resulting gain or loss is reflected in the current

operations.

Construction in progress is stated at cost which includes

borrowing costs during construction on debts incurred to finance

the construction. Construction in progress is transferred to the

respective property and equipment account when completed and

ready for use.

Apabila nilai tercatat suatu aktiva melebihi taksiran jumlah yang

dapat diperoleh kembali (estimated recoverable amount), maka

nilai tersebut diturunkan ke jumlah yang dapat diperoleh kembali

tersebut, yang ditentukan sebagai nilai tertinggi antara harga jual

neto dan nilai pakai.

i. Beban Tangguhan

Beban pra-operasi yang berkaitan dengan pengaturan serta

pengembangan bisnis anak perusahaan ditangguhkan dan

di amortisasi selama tiga tahun sejak tahun pertama anak

perusahaan beroperasi.

j. Pengakuan Sumbangan, Pendapatan dan Beban

Sumbangan dari donatur diakui pada saat sumbangan diterima dan

dipertimbangkan sebagai sumbangan yang tidak terikat kecuali

dipergunakan untuk sementara atau terikat secara permanen

berdasarkan ketentuan dari donatur atau hukum yang berlaku.

Pendapatan diakui ketika jasa dilakukan. Beban diakui pada saat

terjadinya.

k. Imbalan Pasca Kerja

Yayasan memberikan imbalan pasca kerja imbalan pasti untuk

karyawan sesuai Undang- undang Ketenagakerjaan No. 13/2003.

Tidak terdapat pendanaan yang disisihkan oleh Yayasan

sehubungan dengan imbalan pasca kerja ini.

Perhitungan imbalan pasca kerja menggunakan metode Projected

Unit Credit. Akumulasi keuntungan dan kerugian aktuarial bersih

yang belum diakui yang melebihi 10% dari nilai kini kewajiban

imbalan pasti Yayasan diakui dengan metode garis lurus selama

rata-rata sisa masa kerja yang diperkirakan dari para karyawan

dalam program tersebut. Biaya jasa lalu dibebankan langsung

apabila imbalan tersebut telah menjadi hak atau vested, dan

sebaliknya akan diakui sebagai beban dengan metode garis lurus

selama periode rata-rata sampai imbalan tersebut menjadi vested.

Jumlah yang diakui sebagai kewajiban imbalan pasti di laporan

posisi keuangan konsolidasi merupakan nilai kini kewajiban imbalan

pasti yang disesuaikan dengan keuntungan dan kerugian aktuarial

yang belum diakui, dan biaya jasa lalu yang belum diakui.

l. Pajak Penghasilan

Sesuai dengan Undang-undang Pajak Penghasilan No. 17 Tahun

2000, sumbangan dan kontribusi yang tidak terkait dengan usaha,

kepemilikan atau pengendalian antara pihak yang mempunyai

hubungan istimewa tidak dikenakan pajak penghasilan.

Sumbangan yang diterima Yayasan dari para donatur tidak

dikenakan pajak penghasilan sebagaimana ditegaskan dalam

surat Direktorat Jenderal Pajak No. S-7291PJ.4212001 tanggal

29 November 2001.

Beban pajak kini ditentukan berdasarkan laba kena pajak dalam

periode yang bersangkutan yang dihitung berdasarkan tarif pajak

yang berlaku.

Aktiva dan kewajiban pajak tangguhan diakui atas konsekuensi

pajak periode mendatang yang timbul dari perbedaan jumlah

tercatat aktiva dan kewajiban menurut laporan keuangan dengan

dasar pengenaan pajak aktiva dan kewajiban. Kewajiban pajak

tangguhan diakui untuk semua perbedaan temporer kena pajak

dan aktiva pajak tangguhan diakui untuk perbedaan temporer

yang boleh dikurangkan, sepanjang besar kemungkinan dapat

dimanfaatkan untuk mengurangi laba kena pajak pada masa yang

akan datang.

Pajak tangguhan diukur dengan menggunakan tarif pajak yang

berlaku atau secara substansial telah berlaku pada tanggal laporan

posisi keuangan. Pajak tangguhan dibebankan atau dikreditkan

dalam laporan aktivitas, kecuali pajak tangguhan yang dibebankan

atau dikreditkan langsung ke aktiva bersih.

Aktiva dan kewajiban pajak tangguhan disajikan di laporan posisi

keuangan atas dasar kompensasi sesuai dengan penyajian aktiva

dan kewajiban pajak kini.

When the carrying amount of an asset exceeds its estimated

recoverable amount, the asset is written down to its estimated

recoverable amount, which is determined as the higher of net selling

price or value in use.

i. Deferred Charges

Pre-operating expenses incurred in relation to the organization

and development of the Subsidiary’s business are deferred and

amortized over three years commencing on the first year of the

Subsidiary’s operations.

j. Contribution, Revenue, and Expense Recognition

Contribution from donors is recognized upon receipts of contributions,

and is considered as unrestricted contribution unless its use is

temporarily or permanently restricted by explicit donor stipulations or

by law. Revenue is recognized when the service is rendered. Expenses

are recognized when incurred.

k. Post-Employment Benefits

The Foundation provides defined benefit post- employment

benefits to its employees in accordance with Labor Law No.

13/2003. No funding has been made to this defined benefit

plan.

The cost of providing post-employment benefits is determined using

the Projected Unit Credit Method. The accumulated unrecognized

actuarial gains and losses that exceed 10% of the present value

of the Foundation’s defined benefit obligations is recognized on a

straight- line basis over the expected average remaining working

lives of the participating employees. Past service cost is recognized

immediately to the extent that the benefits are already vested, and

otherwise is amortized on a straight-line basis over the average

period until the benefits become vested.

The benefit obligation recognized in the consolidated balance

sheets represents the present value of the defined benefit

obligation, as adjusted for unrecognized actuarial gains and losses

and unrecognized past service cost.

l. Income Tax

In accordance with Income Tax Law No. 17 Year 2000, donations and

contributions not related to business, ownership, or control between

related parties are not subject to income tax. Contributions received

from donors by the Foundation are not subject to income tax as

confirmed by a letter from the Directorate General of Taxation No.

S-7291PJ.4212001 dated November 29, 2001.

Current tax expense is determined based on the taxable income for

the period computed using prevailing tax rates.

Deferred tax assets and liabilities are recognized for the future tax

consequences attributable to differences between the financial

statement carrying amounts of existing assets and liabilities and

their respective tax bases. Deferred tax liabilities are recognized

for all taxable temporarily differences and deferred tax assets are

recognized for deductible temporarily differences to the extent that

it is probable that taxable income will be available in future periods

against which the deductible temporarily differences can be utilized.

Deferred tax is calculated at the tax rates that have been enacted

or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax

is charged or credited in the statement of activities, except when it

relates to items charged or credited directly to net assets, in which

case the deferred tax is also charged or credited directly to net

assets.

Deferred tax assets and liabilities are offset in the balance sheet,

in the same manner the current tax assets and liabilities are

presented.

yang berasal dari sumbangan yang dibatasi penggunaannya untuk membiayai

beasiswa sekolah dasar, beasiswa sekolah menengah pertama, beasiswa

sekolah menengah atas, beasiswa sarjana, beasiswa pasca sarjana luar

negeri, program pemulihan pendidikan di daerah-daerah, program peningkatan

kualitas sekolah dan program pengembangan sekolah dan guru di

Indonesia dengan syarat-syarat khusus yang ditentukan oleh donatur.

Tingkat bunga deposito per tahun

As of December 31, 2009 and 2008, cash and cash equivalents

amounting to about Rp 102 billion and Rp 72 billion are restricted

for funding elementary school, junior high school, senior high school,

undergraduate and overseas graduate scholarships, education recovery

programs in several regions, school quality improvement programs and

school and teacher development program in Indonesia with certain

conditions, which have been determined by the donors.

for the operating expenses of Sampoerna Foundation (Singapore) Pte., Ltd.

13. IMBALAN PASCA KERJA

Yayasan memberikan imbalan pasca kerja untuk karyawan sesuai dengan

Undang-undang Ketenagakerjaan No. 13/2003. Tidak ada pendanaan

imbalan kerja yang disisihkan sampai dengan tanggal laporan posisi

keuangan. Jumlah karyawan yang berhak diperhitungkan untuk imbalan

pasca kerja tersebut adalah 98 orang pada tahun 2009 dan 148 orang

pada tahun 2008.

The Foundation provides post-employment benefits for its qualifying

14. AKTIVA BERSIH

Aktiva Bersih Yayasan dan Anak Perusahaan dikelompokkan sebagai

“Tidak Terikat” dan “Terikat Temporer.” Aktiva bersih “Tidak Terikat” adalah

sebesar Rp 58,04 miliar dan Rp 44,01 miliar pada tahun 2009 dan 2008,

dimana para donatur Yayasan tidak membatasi penggunaannya. Aktiva

bersih “Terikat Temporer” sebesar Rp 102,48 miliar dan Rp 75,21 miliar

pada tahun 2009 dan 2008, penggunaannya dibatasi untuk membiayai

beasiswa sekolah dasar sampai dengan Doktoral, Program Pemulihan

Pendidikan di daerah-daerah dan program peningkatan kualitas sekolah

dan guru di Indonesia dengan syarat-syarat khusus yang ditentukan oleh

donatur.

Selisih antara bagian pemegang saham minoritas atas kerugian anak

perusahaan dengan hak minoritas sebesar Rp 21.525.776 pada tahun

2009 dan Rp 17.752.928 pada tahun 2008 dialokasikan pada bagian

Yayasan dan dikurangkan dari aktiva bersih tidak terikat.

15. SUMBANGAN

14. NET ASSETS

Net assets of the Foundation and its Subsidiary are classified as

“Unrestricted” and “Temporarily Restricted.” The use of “Unrestricted”

net assets amounting to Rp 58.04 billion and Rp 44.01 billion in 2009

and 2008, respectively, does not have any restrictions from the donors.

The use of “Temporarily Restricted” net assets amounting to Rp 102.48

billion and Rp 75.21 billion in 2009 and 2008, respectively, is restricted for

funding primary school scholarship until Post graduate degree, Education

Recovery Programs in several regions and schools and teachers quality

improvement programs in Indonesia with certain conditions which have

been determined by the donors.

The minority shareholders’ share in the Subsidiary’s loss which is in

excess of the minority interests amounting to Rp 21,525,776 in 2009 and

Rp 17,752,928 in 2008, respectively, were allocated against the interest of

the Foundation and deducted against unrestricted net assets.

15. CONTRIBUTIONS

Sumbangan tidak terikat Yayasan terutama berasal dari Putera Sampoerna

sebesar Rp 80,5 miliar pada tahun 2009 dan Rp 75,6 miliar pada

tahun 2008. Pada tahun 2009 dan 2008, sumbangan terikat terbesar

diperoleh dari HMS sebesar Rp 55,8 miliar dan Rp 24,1 miliar.

Mr. Putera Sampoerna’s contributions amounting to Rp 80.5 billion and

Rp 75.6 billion in 2009 and 2008, respectively. In 2009 and 2008, its

restricted contributions are mainly derived from contributions of HMS

amounting to Rp 55.8 billion and Rp 24.1 billion, respectively.

Sejak tahun 2001, Yayasan mengadakan kerja sama dengan Departemen

Pendidikan Nasional (Depdiknas) dimana, dalam program ini, Depdiknas

memberikan informasi mengenai pelajar yang membutuhkan dukungan

keuangan untuk melanjutkan pendidikan sekolah menengah atas (SMA).

Kemudian, Yayasan akan menyeleksi dan memberikan beasiswa kepada

pelajar yang berhak dan berprestasi berdasarkan catatan akademis

mereka. Pada tahun 2004 dan 2005, Yayasan juga mengadakan kerja

sama sejenis untuk pelajar sekolah menengah pertama dan pelajar

sekolah dasar (Catatan 21a).

Yayasan juga bekerja sama dengan United World College (UWC) untuk

membiayai sebagian uang sekolah penerima beasiswa di UWC tersebut.

Pada tahun 2009 dan 2008, beban beasiswa untuk program ini masing-

masing adalah sebesar Rp 396 juta dan Rp 823 juta.

Terikat Temporer

Yayasan juga memberikan beasiswa khusus kepada pelajar sekolah

dengan dana yang berasal dari sumbangan terikat temporer dari donatur.

Beban beasiswa sekolah menengah atas, sekolah menengah pertama

dan sekolah dasar yang berasal dari sumbangan terikat temporer

adalah masing- masing sebesar Rp 1.884,6 juta, Rp 544,8 juta dan

Rp 652,4 juta pada tahun 2009 dan Rp 733,1 juta, Rp 663,2 juta dan

Rp 632,7 juta pada tahun 2008.

18. BEBAN NON-BEASISWA

Rincian akun ini berdasarkan program adalah sebagai berikut:

Unrestricted

Since 2001, the Foundation entered into a cooperation agreement with

the Ministry of National Education (Depdiknas) whereas, under this

program, Depdiknas provides information about the students in need of

financial support to continue their senior high school (SMA) education.

Then, the Foundation will select and award the scholarship to deserving

and outstanding students based on their academic records. In 2004 and

2005, the Foundation has entered the same agreement with Depdiknas

to fund the junior high school and elementary school scholarship,

respectively (Note 21a).

The Foundation, in cooperation with United World College (UWC), funds

part of the tuition fees for scholars in UWC. In 2009 and 2008, scholarship

expense for this program amounted to Rp 396 million and Rp 823 million,

respectively.

Temporarily Restricted

The Foundation granted special scholarships to certain elementary school

scholars using the fund derived from temporarily restricted contributions

from donors. The senior high school, junior high school and elementary

school scholarships expenses funded by the temporarily restricted

contributions each amounted to Rp 1,884.6 million, Rp 544.8 million

and Rp 652.4 million in 2009 and Rp 733.1 million, Rp 663.2 million and

Sampoerna School of Education (sebelumnya Institut Guru)

Yayasan juga pro-aktif dalam mengembangkan berbagai program yang

dapat berguna bagi guru- guru di Indonesia, terutama pengembangan

kualitas dan metodologi pengajaran. Dalam Sampoerna School of

Education, Yayasan menawarkan pengembangan kualitas guru maupun

calon guru. Untuk proyek ini, Yayasan telah menunjuk National Institute

of Education (NIE), sebuah institusi dari Universitas Teknologi Nanyang,

untuk menyediakan pedoman dalam pendirian Sampoerna School of

Education dan menawarkan pengembangan profesional untuk tiga

kelompok pendidik (pendidik, kepala sekolah, dan guru). Pada bulan Juli

2005, Yayasan dibantu oleh NIE mengadakan studi untuk menganalisa

kebutuhan pelatihan guru di Indonesia.

Pengembangan Institusi

Program Pengembangan Institusi (Institutional Development Program/

IDP) bertujuan untuk membantu institusi pendidikan bisnis di Indonesia

dan meningkatkan kualitas, sehingga dapat menghasilkan sumber daya

manusia yang berkualitas tinggi yang dibutuhkan untuk membangun

dan mengembangkan negara. Sebagai Iangkah awal, IDP telah memulai

proyek percontohan untuk membantu Sekolah Bisnis dan Manajemen

Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM-ITB), sebuah sekolah bisnis yang

berbasis di Bandung, untuk menjadi sekolah bisnis terkemuka di Asia

Pasifik. Bantuan dari Yayasan akan memungkinkan sekolah tersebut

mengimplementasikan program- program pengembangan di beberapa

area utama, seperti pengembangan dosen, pengembangan program,

pemasaran, sistem administrasi internal, penelitian dan pengembangan.

Yayasan juga membantu SBM-ITB untuk membuka kampus di Jakarta

dalam rangka meningkatkan pertumbuhan institusi tersebut dan

memungkinkan lebih banyak pelajar mendapatkan pendidikan bisnis yang

berkualitas (Catatan 21c).

United Schools Program

Sebagai bagian dari Program Pengembangan Sekolah, Yayasan mendirikan

United Schools Program (USP) untuk mengembangkan kualitas sekolah

negeri di Indonesia, khususnya untuk tingkat SMA. Program dilaksanakan

melalui kerjasama dengan pemerintah daerah dan Dinas Pendidikan,

mencakup bantuan pengembangan kepemimpinan dan manajemen

kepala sekolah, pengembangan guru, pengembangan siswa, pengayaan

kurikulum dan peningkatan fasilitas sekolah. Sampai dengan tanggal

31 Desember 2009, USP yang didanai oleh Yayasan dan donatur

dilaksanakan di tujuh belas sekolah yang berada di tiga belas daerah;

Depok, Sekayu, Balikpapan, Bandung, Bukittinggi, Denpasar, Makassar,

Manado, Surabaya, Malang, Pandaan, Pundong dan daerah Aceh Utara

(Catatan 21b).

Sampoerna School of Education (formerly Teachers Institute)

The Foundation is also pro-active in developing various programs that

would benefit Indonesian teachers, particularly by improving the quality

of teaching and methodology used. Under the Sampoerna School of

Education, the Foundation is aiming to offer pre-service and in-service

for the current and potential teachers. The Foundation has appointed

the National Institute of Education (NIE), an Institute of the Nanyang

Technological University, in providing rules as guidelines in establishing

this program and offering professional development for three groups of

educators (educators, school principals and teachers). In July 2005, the

Foundation supported by NIE performed a study to analyze teachers’

training needs in Indonesia.

Institutional Development

The Institutional Development Program (IDP) is aimed to assist tertiary

level business education institutions in Indonesia and to improve their

overall quality so as to produce highly qualified human resources required

to build and develop the country. As an initial approach, lDP initiated a

sample project to assist Institut Teknologi Bandung-School of Business

and Management (SBM-ITB), a Bandung- based graduate business

school, obtain its vision of becoming a top ranked business schools in

Asia Pacific. The assistance from the Foundation will allow the school to

implement its improvement programs in several key areas, such as lecturer

development, program development, marketing, internal administration

systems, research and development. The Foundation also assisted SBM-

ITB to open a campus in Jakarta to promote the institution’s growth and to

allow more students access in a quality business education (Note 21c).

United Schools Program

As part of its School Development Program the Foundation established

the United Schools Program (USP) to develop a quality secondary state

schools in Indonesia, especially at the senior secondary level. The

program, carried out in collaboration with the local government and its

Office of Education, entails assistance for school principal’s leaderhip

and management skills development, teacher development, student

development, curriculum enrichment and school facility development. Up

to December 31, 2009, USP which is sponsored by the Foundation and

its donors was implemented in seventeen schools which are located in

thirteen areas, namely, Depok, Sekayu, Balikpapan, Bandung, Bukittinggi,

Denpasar, Makassar, Manado, Surabaya, Malang, Pandaan, Pundong, and

North Aceh regency (Note 21b).

Pada awal tahun 2007, sebuah program yang bertujuan untuk

meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan Madrasah di Indonesia didirikan

dengan nama Madrasah Quality Improvement Program (MQIP).

Program ini mencakup bantuan pengembangan kepemimpinan dan

manajemen kepala madrasah, pengembangan guru, pengembangan

siswa dan peningkatan fasilitas Madrasah. Program ini merupakan

kerja sama dengan Pesantren yang mengelola Madrasah. Pada tanggal

31 Desember 2009, Yayasan telah bekerja sama dengan 2 Pondok

Pesantren, yaitu Pondok Pesantren Raudlatuth Tholibin di Rembang dan

Pondok Pesantren Annuqayah di Madura (Catatan 21b).

Sampoerna Academy (sebelumnya United School International Program)

adalah sebuah program pendidikan yang bertujuan membangun model

sekolah berstandar internasional. Sampoerna Academy menggabungkan

kurikulum Cambridge dengan kurikulum Nasional. Sampoerna Academy

juga bertujuan untuk memberikan pendidikan berstandar internasional

bagi siswa-siswa yang memiliki kemampuan namun mengalami kesulitan

keuangan. Dalam program ini, Yayasan membiayai seluruh operasional

sekolah dalam pengimplementasikan kurikulum Cambridge serta

menyediakan 6 guru yang dilatih secara khusus di sekolah.

19. BEBAN DUKUNGAN PROGRAM

Akun ini merupakan beban tidak Iangsung yang timbul untuk mendukung

program beasiswa Yayasan.

In early 2007, a new program aimed at developing a quality Islamic Schools

in Indonesia was developed with the name Madrasah Quality Improvement

Program (MQIP). The program entails assistance for madrasah principal’s

leadership and management skills development, teacher development,

student development and school facility development. This program is in

collaboration with the Pesantren which manages the Islamic Schools. As

of December 31, 2009, the two partners of USP are Pesantren Raudlatuth

Tholibin in Rembang and Pondok Pesantren Annuqayah in Madura (Note

21b).

Sampoerna Academy (formerly United School International Program)

is an education program aimed to develop a model of school based

on international standard. Sampoerna Academy mixed the Cambridge

curriculum with the National curriculum. Sampoerna Academy also aimed

to provide the international standard education to the students which

are intelligent but financially challenged. In this program, the Foundation

covers the school’s operational expense for the Cambridge curriculum

implementation and the cost of providing six (6) specially trained teachers

in school.

21. PERJANJIAN-PERJANJIAN PENTING

a) Pada tahun 2001, Yayasan menandatangani perjanjian kerja sama

dengan Depdiknas, dimana Yayasan menyatakan komitmennya untuk

memberikan beasiswa kepada 3.000 pelajar yang mengalami kesulitan

keuangan setiap tahun untuk membantu mereka menyelesaikan

pendidikan sekolah menengah atas. Yayasan akan memberikan

Rp 30.000 per bulan kepada setiap pelajar untuk biaya sekolah dan

tunjangan buku. Yayasan akan memberikan beasiswa untuk tiga tahun

akademis secara berturut-turut dimulai sejak tahun 2001/2002

hingga 2003/2004. Beasiswa akan diberikan selama periode tiga

tahun pendidikan di sekolah menengah atas bagi pelajar yang terpilih.

Perjanjian ini berlaku untuk jangka waktu lima tahun dan akan berakhir

pada saat dilakukannya pembayaran beasiswa tahap ketiga pada akhir

tahun akademis 2005/2006.

21. SIGNIFICANT AGREEMENTS

a) In 2001, the Foundation entered into an agreement with Depdiknas,

whereby the Foundation is committed to grant scholarships to 3,000

students with financial difficulties each year to help them complete

their senior high school. The Foundation will provide Rp 30,000 per

month to each student for tuition fees and book allowances. The

Foundation will grant scholarship for three (3) consecutive academic

years starting 2001/2002 until 2003/2004. Each grant will cover a

three-year high school education of selected students. The agreement

is valid for five (5) years and is terminated upon payment of the third

phase scholarships at the end of academic year of 2005/2006.

Pada tahun 2004, Yayasan dan Depdiknas memperbaharui perjanjian

ini, dimana Yayasan menyatakan komitmennya untuk memberikan

beasiswa untuk 3.000 pelajar sekolah menengah atas dengan biaya

sekolah sebesar Rp 50.000 per bulan untuk setiap pelajar dan

kepada 1.000 pelajar sekolah menengah pertama dengan biaya

sekolah sebesar Rp 35.000 per bulan untuk setiap pelajar. Yayasan

akan memberikan beasiswa untuk tiga tahun akademis secara

berturut-turut dimulai sejak tahun 2004/2005 hingga 2006/2007.

Beasiswa akan diberikan selama periode tiga tahun pendidikan

sekolah menengah atas dan sekolah menengah pertama bagi pelajar

yang terpilih. Perjanjian ini berlaku untuk jangka waktu lima tahun dan

akan berakhir pada saat dilakukannya pembayaran beasiswa tahap

ketiga pada akhir tahun akademis 2008/2009.

Pada tahun 2005, Yayasan menandatangani perjanjian kerja sama

dengan Depdiknas, dimana Yayasan menyatakan komitmennya

untuk setiap tahun memberikan beasiswa kepada 1.000 pelajar

yang mengalami kesulitan keuangan untuk membantu mereka

menyelesaikan pendidikan sekolah dasar. Yayasan akan memberikan

Rp 25.000 per bulan kepada setiap pelajar untuk biaya sekolah dan

tunjangan buku.

Pada tahun 2009 dan 2008, Yayasan memberikan beasiswa

ke masing-masing siswa sekolah dasar, sekolah menengah

pertama dan sekolah menengah atas sebesar Rp 30.000,

Rp 45.000 dan Rp 60.000 per bulan.

Yayasan dan Depdiknas terikat kerja sama dengan PT Bank Rakyat

Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. terkait dengan pendistribusian beasiswa

kepada penerimanya.

b) Pada tahun 2005, Yayasan mengadakan kerja sama program

perbaikan kualitas sekolah (USP) dengan beberapa pemerintah kota

kabupaten (dan Dinas Pendidikan setempat) serta sekolah terpilih

untuk meningkatkan kualitas sekolah menengah di Indonesia. Pada

tanggal 31 Desember 2009, program ini masih terus berlangsung.

c) Pada bulan Nopember 2005, Yayasan menandatangani kesepakatan

bersama (MoU) dengan ITB untuk bekerjasama dalam membangun

sebuah sekolah bisnis berkualitas di Asia Pasifik. Pada bulan Maret

2006, Yayasan dan ITB mengadakan perjanjian untuk menetapkan

sumbangan berupa jasa dalam proyek ini. Pada tanggal 31 Desember

2009, proyek ini masih berlangsung.

In 2004, the Foundation and Depdiknas renewed the agreement,

whereby the Foundation is committed to grant scholarships to 3,000

senior high school students amounting to Rp 50,000 each per month

and 1,000 junior high school students amounting to Rp 35,000 each

per month. The Foundation will grant scholarship for 3 consecutive

academic years starting 2004/2005 until 2006/2007. Each grant

will cover a three-year high school and junior high school education

of selected students. The agreement is valid for 5 years and is

terminated upon payment of the third phase scholarships at the end

of academic year of 2008/2009.

In 2005, the Foundation entered into an agreement with Depdiknas,

whereby the Foundation is committed to annually grant scholarship to

1,000 students with financial difficulties to help them complete their

elementary school. The Foundation will provide Rp 25,000 per month

to each student for tuition fees and book allowance.

In 2009 and 2008, the Foundation granted scholarship

and contribution amounting to Rp 30,000, Rp 45,000, and

Rp 60,000 per month to each student in elementary school, junior

high school, and senior high school, respectively.

The Foundation and Depdiknas engaged the service of PT Bank Rakyat

Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. in distributing the scholarship assistance to

recipients.

b) In 2005, the Foundation entered into a USP agreement with several

Municipal/Regency Governments (and District Office of Education)

and the selected schools to develop quality secondary schools in

Indonesia. As of December 31 2009, this program is still ongoing.

c) In November 2005, the Foundation and ITB executed a Memorandum

of Understanding (MoU) to form a partnership in developing a high

quality business school in Asia Pacific. In March 2006, the Foundation

and ITB entered into an agreement that will reflect the terms and

conditions of the Partnership. The Foundation will only provide in-kind

donations to the project. As of December 31 2009, this project is still

ongoing.

d) Pada bulan Juni 2007, Yayasan menandatangani perjanjian dengan

Inter Community Welfare Foundation, Malaysia untuk menjalankan

program “Beasiswa Astro Asih.” Program ini menyediakan beasiswa

untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas dan mahasiswa program

sarjana di Bali. Yayasan akan menjalankan program sesuai dengan

mekanisme yang disyaratkan dalam proposal program. Program ini

akan berakhir sembilan tahun sejak tanggal penyelenggaraan. Proses

seleksi akan diadakan selama lima tahun pertama program. Sisa

empat tahun akan dialokasikan untuk mengawasi kelanjutan program

sampai angkatan terakhir dari penerima beasiswa yang lulus pada

akhir tahun kesembilan.

e) Pada bulan April 2008, Yayasan menandatangani perjanjian dengan

PT Rio Tinto Indonesia untuk menjalankan program beasiswa “Rio

Tinto Scholarship Fund”. Program ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan

10 beasiswa untuk program sarjana nasional di Universitas Tadulako,

Sulawesi Tengah, Universitas Haluoleo, Sulawesi Tenggara dan

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Bandung; 1 beasiswa untuk program

Pasca Sarjana Luar Negeri dan 4 beasiswa untuk program doctoral

luar negeri di Australian National University, Australia. Yayasan akan

menjalankan program sesuai dengan mekanisme yang disyaratkan

dalam proposal program. Program ini akan berakhir 4 tahun setelah

tanggal pelaksanaan.

f) Pada bulan Nopember 2008, Yayasan menandatangani perjanjian

dengan Mobil Cepu Ltd. untuk menjalankan program ‘Adopt a Teacher’,

Peningkatan Profesionalisme Guru dan Kepala Sekolah, serta Program

Master Teacher dan Studi Banding. Yayasan akan menjalankan

program sesuai dengan mekanisme yang disyaratkan dalam proposal

program.

22. REKLASIFIKASI AKUN

Akun tertentu dalam laporan keuangan konsolidasi tahun 2008 telah di

reklasifikasi agar sesuai dengan penyajian laporan keuangan konsolidasi

tahun 2009.

23. PERSETUJUAN ATAS LAPORAN KEUANGAN KONSOLIDASI

Laporan keuangan konsolidasi pada halaman 3 sampai dengan halaman

28 telah disetujui untuk diterbitkan oleh Pengurus pada tanggal 18 Maret

2010.

“Beasiswa Astro Asih.” This program provides scholarships for high

school and undergraduate students in Bali. The Foundation shall

manage the program in accordance with the mechanism provided

under the program proposal. This program will terminate after 9 years

from the date of execution. Selection process will be conducted during

the first 5 years of the program. The last 4 years will be allocated for

monitoring the progress of the program until the last batch of scholars

graduated at the end of the ninth year.

e) In April 2008, the Foundation entered into an agreement with PT Rio

Tinto Indonesia to initiate a scholarship program called “Rio Tinto

Scholarship Fund”. This program aims to provide 10 scholarship for

National Undergraduate at University of Tadulako, Central Sulawesi,

University of Haluoleo, South East Sulawesi and Institute of Technology

Bandung (ITB), Bandung; 1 scholarship for overseas graduate and

4 scholarship for overseas post-graduate at Australian National

University, Australia. The foundation shall manage the program in

accordance with the mechanism provided under the program proposal.

This program shall end 4 years after the date of execution.

f) In November 2008, the Foundation entered into an agreement

with Mobil Cepu Ltd. to initiate ‘Adopt a Teacher’ program, Teacher

and Headmaster Improvement Program and Master Teacher and

Comparative Study Program. The foundation shall manage the program

in accordance with the mechanism provided under the program

proposal.

22. RECLASSIFICATION OF ACCOUNTS

Certain accounts in the 2008 consolidated financial statements were

reclassified to conform with the 2009 consolidated financial statement

presentation.

23. APPROVAL OF CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

The consolidated financial statements on pages 3 to 28 were approved

and authorized for issue by the Executives on March 18, 2010.
