• In the last lesson we talked about how to show you are listening.

• Who can remember what we talked about?

• Today we are going to talk about how to start a conversation.

Starting a Conversation

• Sometimes it can be hard to start a conversation or join a group.

• There are some things that you can do to make it easier.

• For example, you could have a set of words ready.

to start a conversation?

• Can I join in?• I want to ask a question• I saw that you....• Do you want to hear what I did on the

weekend? • I like your shoes.• I have a DS too.

Activity

• Everybody write something they would like to say on the piece of paper they have been given.

• The first person to be asked by the teacher has to turn to the person next to them and tell them what they wrote.

• The person then makes a circle. Now we will make a chain of words like a conversation.
