PRESCOTT COLLEGE Newsletter Term 4, Week 2, Friday 27 October From the Principal’s Desk... Today our Year 12 students had their last day of school - forever. The students and staff had a great breakfast together, and spent some time in worship, reflecting on some of the humorous memories of our year 12 students. We then went out for a jump on the bouncy castle, played bubble soccer and red rover, which is a much better use of time, than the traditional muck up day activities that are often promoted in other institutions. Please look at the pictures further on in the newsletter, to see the fun and games of their last day at school. Now they are beginning Study Vacation to prepare for their final exams. These exams and final external assessments represent the culmination of 13 years of preparation, skills and information applied to enable them to move successfully to the next stage of their lives. These skills are not a result of genetic chance; they cannot be purchased or crammed at the last minute. These skills have been developed by use, over a long period of time: essays written, assignments completed, research conducted and deadlines for completion met. Their skills are a result of a well-planned curriculum of both formal and informal lessons that have been prepared, taught and reviewed over and over again, until their skills are well formed. Students in lower grades need to remember that every task, every lesson contributes to them developing skills for their future success. Time in class and time out of class spent in reviewing, completing and practising tasks is vital for competent academic skill development. Prescott College Staff is proud of our Year 12 students, and we are looking forward to wishing them well at our Speech Night on 7th December. There we will encourage our students to become lifelong learners; to be young men and women, who will be successful in this life and the next. We will encourage them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. Footy Tipping CompetitionThis year a number of Prescott students and staff participated in a tipping competition for the AFL games. The competition involved tipping the result of each game, and a margin for one game a week (the margin is used to determine the rank order if the number of games correct is tied).

This year’s winner is Sahil N, one of our school captains, who picked 133 winners over the course of the year. He won by two points from Chloe O’Neill (131) with Mr Littlewood winning a count back from Makayla E and Danille S (all with 130) for 3rd place. Mr Littlewood probably had the biggest smile though, as he has faithfully supported Richmond for many years.

StormCo, what a journey!! Coming on this trip, I was certain that we were about to impact the lives of some kids, I knew that we would share the message of Jesus and help these kids better understand their Father but what I didn’t know was the impact that these kids would have on me. Their amazing attitudes during Kids club, their gorgeous smiles as they sing the songs and their heart-breaking frowns when it all came to an end, has made me realise that our mission as followers of Christ is to spread his name both far and wide, although that may be difficult, everyone should have the privilege to hear the love Christ has for them. – Sahil N
