Officers have been reinforcing No cold-calling Zones and patrolling the areas effected and making residents in Poynton aware of the problems by leaflet dropping and social media sites. Many Doorstep Sellers are perfectly legimate however if you live in a no cold calling Zone which should be well sign posted in your neighbourhood, then they shouldn’t be calling at all. There are risks that the doorstop call- er could be a bogus trader or a distracon burglar. Leanne has previously been a Special Constable for the Warrington area so they both have a wealth of knowledge in Policing and we are happy to welcome them to the team. Already they have been working with Local business’s in the area to try and reinforce shop watch an initiative in which we work together with Shops and stores to help prevent and detect any Shoplifters or Crime, they will also be working with neighbouring forces to identify any offenders or potential offenders. With the Success of Operation Unlink that took place in the weeks before Christmas, Officers are still being proactive in tackling Anti-Social Behaviour, Underage Drinking and Supplying Alcohol to underage youths. With regular patrols on a Weekend so far in January Officers have issued 8x Yellow Cards and have seized numerous bottles of alcohol and crates. Officers have also spoken to 2 x Youths who have had several Yellow Cards issued have been discussed in a POP (Preventing Offenders Panel) meeting and Officers have spoken with the youths in the company of their Parents about their behaviour. This seems to have had a positive effect and Officers have noticed that these two youths have not been creating any more issues.

“ Anti-Social Behaviour & Alcohol”

PCSO Mellor has been attending the Gateway Project held at St Pauls Community rooms. In January herself and School Liaison Officer PC Commins attended in-forming the youths about the different roles of the Police and in particular highlighting the importance of Forensic Evidence and a CSI’s role within the Police. In the next session in February Officers will be discussing the effects of alcohol and anti-social behavior.

“ Gateway Project”

Officers have been attending the Pre-Schools giving Road Safety Advice and teaching them the importance of the Green Cross Code and educating them on Shared Space within Poynton Village. At the end of the Year Officers delivered School Talks to the Primary School Children on Anti-Bullying week about Bullying and the negative effects it has on people. Last Month we did “ Home Security” Educating the Children on how to keep their houses Safe, Security measures, keeping their personal Items safe and about doorstep crime and marking Property.

“ In the Schools”

“ Community Links” PCSO Luke has been helping with the Community Links project at the High School taking youths out and engaging them in activities to help the Commu-nity. Pictured Left was from last month where they were gritting the paths in the bad weather that we had.

talk with Mothers about the importance of Car Seats and any other questions or queries they had.

‘The month in Numbers’

8 x Yellow Cards for Underage Drinking/Anti-Social Behaviour 0 x Fixed Penalty Tickets for Parking Obstructions 8 x Vehicles Stopped on a Driver Engagement day for Not wearing a seatbelt/Using Mobile Phone

‘Road Related” Officers conducted a Driver Engagement Day on London Road North on January 25th alongside the

Fire Service, targeting drivers who weren’t wearing their Seatbelt or were on their mobile phone. 8 drivers were stopped and given the option of having a ticket of £30 or watching a hard hitting and emotional video about the dangers of driving in this way.

Tuesday 8th January Officers were on London Road North with the Speedgun– No Cars were caught breaking the Speed Limit.

Saturday 26th January– Impact day officers stopped 20+ cars for Seatbelt& Mobile phone offences & Issued tickets

Bike Lights have been given out to the youths of Poynton with the Help from the Council in encour-aging safer cycling.

Officers attended the 30 year Celebration at the Hockley Centre

11/01/13– Officers held the Higher Poynton Surgery at St Martins Church to encourage people to join rural watch.

Officers attended the Connects group Youth Club on a Friday night, a great place for young people to come and be safe and not on the Streets.

PC Andy Barron, Andy has previously worked in

Neighbourhood Policing teams, targeted

response teams and the roads policing unit.

Andy has worked in Poynton previously and is

very familiar with the area.

PCSO Melissa Mellor, before joining Cheshire Constabulary in 2008, I had various Customer Service roles. I enjoy new challenges, working with the community and problem solving. I also enjoy Photography, Media and Music.

PCSO Chris Luke, Chris joined Cheshire Constabulary in January 2010. Chris enjoys sea fishing and power-boating. Chris also enjoys a challenge and playing the drums. He is also an avid lifelong Manchester United Fan.

PCSO Steve Davenport prior to working for Cheshire Police, I worked for a company in Ha-zel Grove manufacturing boats. In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts and I'm interested in classic cars. I enjoy patrol-ling and meeting new people.

PCSO Leanne Kieran-Jones has previously been a Special Constable with Cheshire Constabulary based at Warrington. Prior to this she worked for a Mobile Phone Company. She enjoys work-ing as part of a team and with the Community.
