Our teachers and learners are busily engaged in many learning opportunities whilst developing a visible learning classroom. Last Friday we enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate at the Book Parade. A huge thank you to Mrs Hollis, our Librarian, for the organisation and enthusiasm, a really great event. It was inspiring to see everyone dressed up and getting into the spirit of the day. I’d like to thank all our parents, students and staff for the effort you put into creating such fantastic costumes and for cheering on all our children with such enthusiasm during the parade. This week is also SASS recognition week. A week to show thanks to our office, administration, general assistant and school learning support officers that we appreciate their tireless behind the scenes work that they put in to supporting staff and learners at our school. We are grateful to Sue, Charmaine, Jodie, Catherine, Andrea, Polly, Dale, Larissa, Vanessa, Jo and Jade. Thank you. You will have heard that Mr Downward has decided to retire from the position as Principal at our school. The school will be advised by the Department of Education about the timeline to engage a permanent Principal position. We will keep you up to date as we know. We would like to thank Mr Downward for the contribution and passion that he has provided the school over his tender and wish him the very best with his further endeavours. A huge ‘Hoorah!’ to all of our dads for Fathers Day. With thanks to the P&C for such a successful gift stall. Enjoy your special celebration with the family. We are already in Week 6 of school for this term. Our teachers and learners are busily engaged in many learning opportunities whilst developing a visible learning classroom.

Last Friday we enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate at the Book Parade. A huge thank you to Mrs Hollis, our Librarian, for the organisation and enthusiasm, a really great event. DEPUTY PRINCIPAL NEWSPublic Speaking - Congratulations to all our learners who did an awesome job presenting speeches to their class and some to their year cohort as well. Stage finals will be held this Thursday 29 August at 9.00am in 6S classroom. Parents are invited to attend the morning and support your child. K-2 section final will be held first, followed by the Stage 2 final and concluding with the Stage 3 final. Shara Perry - Assistant Principal STAGE 1 NEWSIntensive Swimming - In Term 4 Week 2 and 3 our Stage 1 students will have the opportunity to participate in Intensive Swimming lessons at Kingscliff pools. Notes will be sent out at the beginning of Week 7.SeeSaw - Thank you to all of our parents who are sharing this platform with their child and class teacher. Staff appreciate parents informing them of student absences however if your child is absent from school you must still provide a note to explain the absence.Child Protection - Stage 1 Child Protection lessons have started. All payments need to be made by Wednesday 25 September. Please remember to fill in the online medical consent form through the Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation website. You will need to use the booking number 540855 which was listed on the last page of the note. Apart from the fabulous activities the camp provides, it benefits students in many other ways. NEWSLETTERSPORT NEWSNSW PSSA State Knockout - On Wednesday 7 August Pottsville Beach Public School Touch teams competed in the NSW PSSA State Knockout. Our girls had an enjoyable day. Unfortunately they lost their first round game against Kingscliff but went on to dominate in their two remaining consolation games.The boys had a very competitive day defeating Kingscliff in the first game of the day and Terranorra in the second. In the third game of the day we came up against a quality Tweed Heads PS outfit. Whilst we pushed them the whole game we came up short and went down 11-8.North Coast Touch - Congratulations to Cooper B who just returned from representing NC in Touch. North Coast finished ninth overall.FNC Athletics - On Friday 9 August 80 students represented Pottsville Beach Public School at the Murwillumbah District PSSA carnival in Murwillumbah. We had some fantastic results and a large number of students qualified to represent Murwillumbah District at the Far North Coast Carnival in Bryon Bay. This carnival took place on Friday 23 August. Pottsville finished first as the champion school. Our book parade was enthusiastically embraced by staff and students and we had a ball dressing up and parading on Friday!Borrowing Even Weeks - Just a reminder that borrowing is now fortnightly (even weeks). Students may borrow up to three books at a time and are welcome to swap books over during lunchtime.
