Please remember that the only place your pet is allowed to roam free and/or to relieve itself is on your own private property. For no reason should you ever allow your pet off its leash while in the community, nor should you allow your pet to relieve itself on private property. If you find that you are having a problem with a neighbor’s pet, the best way to handle the situation is to address your neighbor. Part of being a good neighbor is respectful communication. It is important that you take the time to let your neighbor know your concerns. The Hethwood Foundation has completed guidelines for solar energy structures and has created a form (Application for Alternative Energy Installation) that is located on line for your convenience. Please submit this to our office if you are planning to install solar panels. These will be handled in a similar fashion to an Architectural Change form. Also, do you have suggestions for activities or improvements around the community? Shoot me an email or stop by the office to share your ideas! Are you proud of your flowers, yard or other landscaping feat? Drop us a photo of your lovely lawn and we will be happy to post a select few in our newsletter or on our website! June 2014

Hethwood Board Meeting The next Hethwood Foundation Board of Directors

quarterly meeting will be held on July 21st, at noon in the Huntsman Clubhouse.

Can you believe it is June? It is time to get out and enjoy this kick off to summer!

Planning to stick around Hethwood for the summer? We have lots of activities for you!

Hethwood has been in full swing preparing all the amenities for the busy time. Both pools are

sparkling and ready for a splash! As of Mary 31st the Briarwood and Huntsman pools will be

operating on regular hours. Please see inside for details about the pool and other upcoming

events. Plan to join us at either facility for a variety of activities this month: sun bathing, lap

swim, cool treats, and swim lessons. Our swim lesson schedule has been adjusted to allow for

more opportunities for lessons during the season. Come meet the awesome new aquatic staff this

month at our ice cream social! Join me in thanking our Pool Manager, Keely Jones, for all of her

hard work getting the pools up and running this year! Keely has been with Hethwood for 5 years

and has loads of experience with these pools. Also, welcome back Emily Gresh and Emily Mertes

as Head Guards this year!! Come enjoy a cool, sweet treat with the “coolest” aquatics team

around!

Thank you to all who have paid their dues! If you have not paid yet, please add late and

administrative fees to your payment. It is also important to note that CFM will handle collections

on any late dues. Contact the office if you have any questions. Please see the blurb inside for fur-

ther details.

Summer is a great time for those home improvements, so make plans now if your home

needs to be power washed or painted/stained. Please also focus on your storage buildings as well,

as many of them could use a fresh coat of paint or power washing. If you have big projects

planned, here is some good information in regards to making exterior changes:

Kindly give the office a call to update us on your plans. If you are not making color or

material changes (just repairs) to the existing structure of the home, we will simply document

your file. If you are making any changes, additions or alterations to the exterior of your home

then you are required to complete an Application for Architectural Change/Addition for the ap-

proval process. The form can be found on our website. We highly encourage you to contact the

members of your neighborhood Architectural Control Committee (ACC) prior to the application

and any neighbors that may be directly impacted by the project. Please ensure that you fill out

the form COMPLETELY, including drawings to scale and property plat, samples of materials.

We can not process an incomplete application. Your neighborhood ACC and the Hethwood Foun-

dation will review then approve/disapprove your application. The Bylaws allow 30 days for this

process; although, when all required information is present and with simple changes, the time

line is often much shorter. Once you have completed your project, please send or email a photo of

the final product to the Hethwood office for our records.

With the rain and sun of summer, it is also important to keep an eye on the lawn and

garden areas. As drive thru inspections are performed, the two most common things noticed are

lawns in need of mowing or trimming, and plantings that are encroaching on common area or

public property. Take a minute to walk the border of your property and properly maintain any

vegetation that is starting to wander past your property lines.

If you have a pet, you must be a responsible owner. Please remember that the only place

your pet is allowed to roam free and/or to relieve itself is on your own private property. For no

reason should you ever allow your pet off its leash while in the community, nor should you allow

your pet to relieve itself on private property. If you find that you are having a problem with a

neighbor’s pet, the best way to handle the situation is to address your neighbor. Part of being a

good neighbor is respectful communication. It is important that you take the time to let your

neighbor know your concerns.

The Hethwood Foundation has completed guidelines for solar energy structures and has

created a form (Application for Alternative Energy Installation) that is located on line for your

convenience. Please submit this to our office if you are planning to install solar panels. These will

be handled in a similar fashion to an Architectural Change form. Also, do you have suggestions

for activities or improvements around the community? Shoot me an email or stop by the office to

share your ideas! Are you proud of your flowers, yard or other landscaping feat? Drop us a photo

of your lovely lawn and we will be happy to post a select few in our newsletter or on our website!

We are proud of beautiful Hethwood-share your experience with us!

Cancellation Policy

Participant cancellations will result in a $10 processing fee deducted from the refund to cover some expenses. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks processing time. Cancellations must be in writing with a correct mailing address. In case of inclement weather, you will be called if the class will need to be rescheduled. In most cases we can swim because we get wet anyhow!

Important Information

Do you have a house for sale? There may be another Hethwood resident interested in your home!

Please contact our office as we will be adding a tab on our website titled “Homes for Sale”. Send us a photo of your home, the address, (a total of 3 sentences) and a link to your realtor. All submissions must be electronic. Please include your name and

phone number for our records. We will not give it out unless you direct us to do that, or if your home is for sale by owner. We’ll help you get the word out!

Important Disclosure Package Information Please note, if you are selling your house/condo/townhouse you (the seller) are required to furnish the buyer with a

disclosure package. The disclosure package includes important information regarding the Hethwood by-laws, exterior home and yard inspection, architectural standards, dues requirements, and other important information. Realtors know this and often request one on your behalf.

Some realtors may not. It is the seller’s responsibility. If you are selling your home, please remember to request a disclosure package in writing from the Hethwood Foundation. You may go to www.hethwoodfoundation.com and use the interactive form or print off a form. Please note that an exterior home and yard inspection will be completed as required. Any violations noted must be reported in the disclosure

information, and a letter will be sent to you as well. Any violations will need to be remedied in an appropriate time frame. Haymarket Square owners must obtain a disclosure package from both the Hethwood Foundation (552-5252) $50 and

Raines Property Management 951-0000 (cost $50). Likewise, Chowning Place owners must obtain a disclosure package from both the Hethwood Foundation (552-5252) $50 and Townside Inc. (552-4000) electronic $225 and paper $250. A purchaser may cancel the contract if

timely delivery of the association disclosure package is not completed.

Clubhouse Rentals We have two great clubhouses available for Hethwood homeowners and residents of Foxridge to rent. The cost for rental is $50 and the deposit is

$300. Consider the Briarwood Clubhouse for your special event. It is easy to clean, the furniture can be moved around for dancing, and it is equipped with a range, refrigerator, and microwave for your convenience. The Huntsman Clubhouse is reserved for non-alcoholic events such as meetings,

classes, showers etc. It has a full kitchen and is available for daytime use during office hours. The clubhouses are great for hosting larger groups that may not fit in your home comfortably. This is a privilege for our residents and it is hoped that any rentals will be treated that way. Residents are

responsible for returning the clubhouses to their original condition with furniture in place, cleaned completed (residents are to provide own cleaning supplies) and trash removed to a dumpster. The clubhouse(s) should be left properly secured, with key turned in immediately after the contracted time

and clubhouse ready for the next inspection and rental.

Satellite Dishes The FCC allows for the residents of planned communities to install direct broadcast satellite dishes. Before installing any satellite dish,

we request that you complete a Notice of Intent to Install an Antenna. The form as well as information regarding installation size and location can be printed from the Hethwood web site or picked up at the Hethwood office. Once this is filed with the

Hethwood Foundation you are free to carry out installation, unless for some reason the size or location does not conform to applicable standards.

Before You Make Changes To Your Home or Add Structures…. If you are planning to make any changes please note that according to the bylaws; an Architectural Control Committee shall

approve or disapprove any additions or alterations to the building exteriors, including fences, painting-color changes, walls, walks and any type of outbuilding/structure. An Application for Architectural Change/Addition must be submitted along with detailed information, samples and

measurements as requested on the form, to the Architectural Control Committee, as well as to the Hethwood Foundation for approval. Generally the process moves quickly, but one should allow for a 30-day approval process. Please contact the Hethwood office for this form or print one from the

Hethwood web site www.hethwoodfoundation.com.

Special Pick Ups of Debris Citizens who need collection of debris outside of Spring/Fall Clean Up

should call the Town of Blacksburg Finance Dept. @ 961-1851 to request a special pickup. There is a prepaid fee of $65 per load. Another option for

debris, is to utilize the Montgomery County Consolidated Waste Sites. www.montgomerycountyva.gov, or call 382-5793.
