FundaçãoGetulioVargas isanon‐profit institutionthatwasfounded in 1944. Today it is one of the main Brazilian centers of teaching,research, publication and consulting in the field of Administration. Theuniversityoffersacompleterangeofcoursesforthebestprofessionaltrainingatthe undergraduate level, such as Business and Public Administration (the firstones inBrazil),Economy,LawandSocialScience.FGValsooffersgraduateandcontinuingeducationlevels.Through partnerships with the most important Brazilian companies andgovernment institutions, the school offers modern facilities, distance learningcentersandcomputerlaboratories.

FACULTIES

BusinessSchool­EAESPThejointeffortsoftheBraziliangovernment,theBrazilianbusinesscommunity,andMichiganStateUniversityfoundedtheFGV‐EAESP(FundaçãoGetulioVargas‐ Escola deAdministraçãodeEmpresas de SãoPaulo) in the 1950’s. The FGV‐EAESP was created in response to the major industrial development periodburgeoninginBrazilandinresponsetotheneedforaskilledandableleadershiptoconfronttheensuingchallengesofthattime.Since1954,FGV‐EAESPhasbeencommitted to turn its students into outstanding professionals and learnedcitizens who possess the necessary tools to cope with the challenges of aconstantly changing world. The São Paulo Business School is certified by theAACSB(AssociationtoAdvanceCollegiateSchoolofBusiness),whosemissionisto provide and recognize the excellence of Business Schools in the world.Another certification is the EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System)which analyses the institution’s qualities guided by the international criteria.Thereareonlyeleveninstitutionsintheworldwithbothcertificates.Thisschoolis also accredited by the Association of MBAs, which confirms once again thequalityof the graduateprogram.FundaçãoGetulioVargas is also amemberofPIM (Partnership in International Management), which is a network thatprovides unique international opportunities for students, faculty and staffmembers,aswellasfortheInstitutionasawhole.

SchoolofEconomics­EESPTheSchoolofEconomicsofSãoPaulo is theresultofFundaçãoGetulioVargas'aimtospreadthisparticularfieldofknowledgethroughoutthecityofSãoPaulo.ItoffersgraduationandPhDcourses,whichareheldbyexcellentprofessors,comingeitherfromFundaçãoGetulioVargasorotherhighlyreputableuniversities, fromtheprofessionalfieldorthegovernment.EscoladeEconomiadeSãoPauloholdsinitsstaffpublicfigures,suchasformerministersoffinances,ministersofplanninganddevelopment,andministersofscienceandtechnology.Fundação Getulio Vargas' course of Economics is focused to the marketexpectations,which require constant innovation.Thatmeans talentedstudentsand entrepreneurship skills with the ability of comprehension of the mostlyvariedsituationsandproblemsoftheeconomy,eitheronspecificssubjectsorontheglobalcontext.

STUDENTS'UNION

The Fundação Getulio Vargas'Students'Unionwasfoundedin1956.Itisanon‐profit institution, which represents the students’ body ofboth São Paulo Business School and São Paulo EconomicsSchool, working as a connection among professors andstudents. The Students' Union's ‐ or DA (DiretórioAcadêmico) ‐maingoal is torepresent thestudents lookingafter their interests besides promoting integration amongscholarsthroughtheorganizationofevents.TheLawSchoolhasitsownStudents'Union,theCA‐CentroAcadêmico.

InternationalProjectsGroupwascreatedin2008,bystudentsfromtheStudents'Union.Thegroupisresponsibletofindabuddyforeachexchangestudent.Thebuddyhelpsthenewcomertofindhisorherwayaroundthecity,organize tours, help with Portuguese and introduce to the FGV's studentenvironment.Areceptionweekisorganized,whichincludescitytour,barbecue,cocktail,barsandparties.The intention of the International Projects Group is to integrate the foreignstudents and the brazilians through the students themselves, so that both canknowmoreabouttheeachother'scultureandthecountrytheyarelivingin.

GCT­THEPROJECT

The Global Cultural Transfer Project is aninternational cultural exchange program organized by undergraduate studentsofLaw,EconomicsandBusinessorPublicAdministrationfromFundaçãoGetulioVargas.

Today it is essential to have an internationalexperience,whichcanguaranteeabetterprofessionaland personal development. The idea of the GCTprogram is to enable the student to explore culture,

economy,societyandeducationalsystemofBrazilandofthepartnercountry,sothatbothlearnandunderstandeachother.Theprojectintendstobreakwiththestereotypes that might be held towards other countries and to live a uniqueinternationalexperience.

MISSION:“To allow Fundação Getulio Vargas'studentsandothersabroadeningoftheirunderstanding of economic, politic, socialand cultural aspects, as well as businessfrom other countries, stimulating anintercultural dialogue and the break ofstereotyped opinions, also contributingwiththeeducationandpersonalgrowthofthese young people into global citizenswithawideworldvision.”

VISION:“We truly believe changingthe world starts withpersonal and interculturalrelationships.”

HISTORYTheGlobalCulturalTransferstartedwiththeMagellanProject,organizedeveryyearsince2002,by the Swiss University of St. Gallen with a LatinAmerican university. In 2006, it was Brazil’s turn tojoin in the program. During 20 days, Brazilians andSwissstudentshadalotofactivities,fromworkshops,lectures given by renowned professors, visits to companies and non‐profitorganizations,toursthroughthecity,shorttripsoutsidethecityandparties.It was such a rewarding experience, that the Brazilian participants wanted tocontinue and expand such international opportunities. The result was thecreationofGCT–GlobalCulturalTransferProgram.

ThefirstprojectorganizedbyBraziliansstudentswassetin2007withCorvinusUniversityofBudapest,throughwhich20 students from Hungary and Brazil had an intense andamazingexperiencebasedontheMagellanproject.In2008,due to the successofMagellanand the firstGCT,

thestudentsorganizedathirdedition,setwithtwoSwedishschools:StockholmSchool of Economics (HHS) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). Thisexperiencejustgavethestudentsthewilltocontinuetheprojectin2009.

Theprogram lasts for 20days, divided in twoperiods of 10days, one in eachcountry. The first part takes place in Brazil and can be held in April or May,dependingontheavailabilityofthepartneruniversity.ThesecondparthappensinJulyattheinvitedcountry.Within the course of these days the teamswill organize different activities inorder tomaximize theculturalexperienceof thecountry.Themaingoalof theprojectistostimulatearealexperienceofaninternationalcountry,buildingnewrelationshipsandbreakingwithstereotypes.Theproject isheld in thecityofSãoPaulo,which is located in thestateofSãoPaulo,themostpopulatedoneinBrazilwithmorethan40millioncitizens.

THECITYSãoPauloisthemostimportantfinancialcenterinLatinAmerica.Inthelast fewyears, it has become amajor host to various international events andfairs, and has been visited by various audiences, from scientists to artists,merchantsandentrepreneurs,comingfromotherstatesofBrazilandallovertheworld.SãoPaulo is thericheststateof thecountryandisresponsible formorethan31%of thecountryGDP.Withthebest infrastructure, it isconsideredthe“economicengine”ofBrazil.SãoPauloisalsoamajorculturalcenter.Thecityisveryethnicallydiverseinthemetropolitanarea,withheavyinfluencesofItalian,Spanish,Portuguese,German,ArabianandJapanesecultures.Thereareover3millionpeoplefrom70differentnationalitiesanditisoneofthemostcosmopolitancitiesofSouthAmerica.Thecityoffers an intenseartistic and cultural life.Withmuseums, cultural centers,theaters,churches,bars,danceclubs,andshows,theculturalagendaoftodayisaresultof thediversityand to thecosmopolitanspirit thatalwayscharacterizedSãoPaulo.

ORGANIZATIONThe Global Cultural Transfer is composed by 20 participants from eachcountry, five ofwhich are part of the organization Team. The criterion to joinGCTistheidentificationwiththeprogrammissionandgoals.Theparticipantswillrepresenttheiruniversityandareresponsibleforitsimageabroad and also for the people or companies that give assistance for theconcretizationoftheproject.Inthisaspect,theymustfollowthecodeofconductand support the team on its efforts to enable everyone to have a great andrewardingexperience.Theprogramworkswitha“buddy”system.Everystudentwillhavea“buddy”toprovidehousing,food,transportandassistance.Themainreasonforthissystemistoprovideeachparticipanttheclosestcontactpossiblewiththecountry’slife,showingandexplainingittothebuddythewayitreallyis.

COSTSACOMMODATIONIn each country, the participants will be staying at their host’s place. If theprojectsetsupatrip,theaccommodationwillbefullypaidbythelocalcountryorganization.TRANSPORTATIONEachparticipantmustpayforhisorherownairlinetickettothechosencountry.Whentheparticipantarrivesatthedestination,GlobalCulturalTransferwillpayforthemaintransportationcosts.Forsomespecificactivities,theprogramwon’thandlethecosts.Inthosecases,the“buddy”willberesponsibleforit.FOOD&BEVERAGESDuring the fullextentof theprogram,GlobalCulturalTransferwillprovide formostoffood’sneeds.Thismeansthat,exceptforbeverages,theprogramwillpaymostofthemeals.Infewcases,theparticipantsmightberesponsiblefortheirownmeals.
