School Meetings
Feb Thursday 23rd School Council 7.30 pm
Mar Thursday 2nd Parents Club AGM 10.30 am
Principal’s Report:
Many thanks and well done to all the students staff and parents
who supported our Annual Swimming Carnival on Monday. As
promised it was a very colourful, exciting and hard fought battle
between the four school houses. Well done to Campaspe House
who got their name back on the trophy after being in the wilder-
ness for a year. Mr Luis Harris deserves high praise for organis-
ing and overseeing this wonderful aspect of our extra curricula
program.
It was pleasing to hear that there were very good numbers of par-
ents at our Year 12 information session on Tuesday evening.
Year 12 of course is a very important year for students and the
more information and strategies for success they have at their
finger tips the better chance they have. Thanks to Mrs Borger, Mr
Dimovski and Mrs McCarty for overseeing and parents for their
time and effort.
School photos will take place next Tuesday 28th February, please
make sure all children are in full school uniform and looking neat
and tidy. At the suggestion of several parents we will revert to
taking full class photos as well as individuals. If your child is
absent on the day there will be no further opportunity for class
photos only individual ones.
As we head into week five of term one our school has settled
back into an industrious routine even though there are always
several extra curricula activities at this time. Year 7’s continue to
find their way well - for a few it is a big adjustment and as usu-
al we continue to support them to “find their feet” as soon as pos-
sible.
Congratulations to Olivia Dimovski who last night won the Lions
Youth of the Year and also to Emily Major who was runner up.
A fantastic performance by both young Rochester Secondary
College ambassadors.
Please feel free to contact your Year Level Manager should you
have concerns or questions.
By working together in a spirit of corporation we provide the best
possible educational outcomes for students.

College. Whilst students bring their own devices the infrastructure to run these devices still needs to be maintained)

office) , BPay or Direct Debit to the College’s account.

School Council supplements Department of Education funds by requesting payments from parents for the following items :-
1. Essential Student Learning items are those items or services that are essential to support the course of instruction in
the standard curriculum program for which parents and guardians are responsible. Parents may choose to either pro-
vide or pay the school to provide essential items. (e.g. material costs, reference materials, official diary, sports uni-
forms etc).
2. Optional items (or non-essential materials and services) which are offered on a user-pays basis and which parents and
guardians may choose whether their child accesses or participates in (e.g. school camps, excursions and activities,
student computer printing beyond the usual curriculum, instrumental music, school magazines, newsletters, class pho-
tographs), BYOD Infrastructure expenses.
3. Voluntary financial contributions which parents and guardians may be invited to donate to the school, for example
grounds maintenance, etc
Financial Assistance and Making Payments
The school appreciates that families may sometimes experience financial difficulties in meeting requests for payment and con-
tributions. A range of support options are available to assist parents, including State Schools Relief Committee support and
Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF). Council will provide opportunities for all parents to enter into alternative and
confidential payment arrangements with the Principal or Business Manager.
Camps, Sport and Excursion Fund
Schools are required to use the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) payment for expenses relating to Camps, Sport
and/or Excursions for the benefit of the eligible student/s – Years 7 - 12.
Some common examples of school-organised programs for which the CSEF payment may be used include:
- School camps/trips
- Swimming and other school-organised sporting programs.
- Outdoor education programs.
- Excursions
The CSEF payment cannot be used towards voluntary school charges, nor towards books, stationery, school uniforms, music
lessons or other optional items. Parents and guardians who hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary fos-
ter parent, may be eligible for CSEF. This allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excur-
sions or sporting activities for the benefit of your family. The total CSEF amount per student will be allocated in consultation
with parents/guardians. Please collect your application form from the office. A copy of your card is required.

Senior Cricket at RSC
U nfortunately another poor batting display cost our
senior cricketers dearly in our match against Nathalia
SC last Thursday. Jeremy Felmingham (18) at the top
of the order and Ben Briggs (17) at the bottom were the only
batters to show any real resistance against a Nathalia attack
that was led by a S. Zammitt spell that resulted in match best
figures of 5/7. But despite being bundled out for 85, the boys
were confident that if they bowled well they were in the game.
A steady flow of early wickets left Nathalia in trouble at 4/23,
but with Rochester starting to get on top, the Nathalia batters
quickly swung the momentum back their way on the back of
some poor fielding and dropped catches from Rochester.
Scores of 66 and 41 were enough for Nathalia to pass Roches-
ter’s total and then have some fun; trying to hit big. Eventually
they were bowled out for 153 with the wickets being shared
around.
A good effort boys, but a bit of work needs to be done before
next year.
BPay Is Available
I t is possible to pay any charges owed to the College by
BPay.
When statements are received they will show a BPay
logo along with the Biller Code and Reference Number.
Each family will have a unique number to identify your pay-
ments to the College.
If you are paying for a number of different charges and wish
them allocated in a specific order please contact (email or
phone) the College to convey your wishes. This is just an-
other option to use. Payments can still be made by cash,
cheque, EFTPOS or Direct Debit to the College’s bank ac-
count.
Any queries – please contact the College on 54841 844 or
Biology Books
S tudent textbooks for Biology arrived early this
term. They were not on the booklist, so an addition-
al payment is required. Students in Year 11 and 12
Biology have been given an explanatory letter and pay-
ment envelope.
As the students have received their book, payment is
now due: Unit 1&2: $30 Unit 3&4: $90

2017 Age Champions:
A fantastic day was had by all competitors, braving the cooler temperatures early in the morning before the sun broke
through in the afternoon. Campaspe returned to the winners list after last year, Waranga ended their quest for 6 swimming
titles in a row. We had five Age Champions go “back-to-back” and some wonderful individual and team performances on
the day.
I would like to make special mention to the House Captains for all of their hard work on the day, it is a big job and they certainly
worked hard on Monday to ensure the best results for their respective houses. Also to the staff who helped out on the day, espe-
cially those who braved the darkness and cold to be there very early to set up everything. These fantastic sporting days would not
be possible without the help of everyone involved and I am grateful to those who helped out.
The athletics carnival will be held on 28th April so lets make sure it is another wonderful day!
