DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Psychology (with pass subject) was established in 1971.
The facility for Hons in Psychology was created in 1980. Due to heavy
demands from the students’ in Southern Odisha, P.G. in Applied Psychology
was started in 2010-11.

EVALUATION PROCESS AND REFORMS-
The whole examination system is controlled by the Controller of the
Examination of the college.
Internal Assessment, Assignments checking done by the teaching
faculties of the Department.
Extra Classes are held for the completion of course in time.
If a Student is having some authentic problem, she is given a chance
to reappear the IAE.
Reforms in question preparation pattern (MCQ) adopted.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) adopted in curriculum
preparation.
CRITERION III-RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION
PROMOTION OF RESEARCH-
UGC provides funding for Research work, books, purchasing
equipments and testing materials, computers etc.
CONSULTANCY-
The students having academic and non academic difficulties
have been provided counselling at the time of need.
The students are also provided proper guidance for choosing a
particular course (science /arts/ commerce) after
Matriculation.
Providing Psychological assistance (preparing psychological
report) to the juvenile justice systems delinquents at the time
of discharge.
Extension Activities and Institutional Social Responsibilities-
The students of the Department of different classes have participated in
different programmes conducted by NSS, Youth Red Cross, etc.
The programmes include Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Self Defence Training,
Road Safety, First Aid Training, Blood Donation and Blood Group Detection
Camps, AIDS Awareness Camps etc.
The students of the Department have conducted project works and field
studies in different areas like Clinical Sector (Mental Retarded Schools),
Juvenile Deliquency Homes and Organizational Sectors like Banks, Defence
Academy, IRE Etc.

P.G students under the guidance of teaching faculties in different areas like

Extension Activities and Institutional Social Responsibilities-
Welcome and Farewell meetings are also organized for the students.
Field Trips/ Study Tours are organized for the Collection of Data
(Project Work/Field Studies) by the Department.
The students of the department of different classes have participated
in different programmes conducted by NSS, Youth Red Cross, and in
Athletic
Society.
The programmes include Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Self Defence
Training, Road Safety, First Aid Training, Blood Donation And Blood
Group Detection Camps, AIDS Awareness Camps etc.
The students of the department have conducted project works and
field studies in different areas like Clinical Setup (Mentally Retarded
Schools), Juvenile Deliquents Homes and Organizational Sectors like
Banks, Defence Academy, IRE Ltd.etc.
The students of the department participate in different cultural
activities like Ganesh Puja. Saraswati Puja, National Holiday
Celebration.
And they also maintain the cleanliness of the classrooms and keeping
the Apparatus/Test Materials in order.
CRITERION VI-GOVERNANCE, LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT –
The college is under the governance of the Higher Education
Department Of Government Of Odisha .
The Principal as the head of the Institution makes a distribution of
extracurricular activities among the members of the teaching
faculties according to their capacities for the smooth running of the
college each year.
The HOD remains in charge of the department as whole.
He/she remains in charge of preparing time table, distribution of
classes, distribution of departmental duties among the members of
the department along with maintaining the daily progress register of
the teachers.
Special care is taken for arranging classes whenever a teaching
faculty is on leave.
FACULTY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES-
The teachers of the department participate in refresher/orientation
courses organized by different universities as it is an Undergraduate
college administrative work.
ADMINISTRATIVE WORK-
The HOD remains in charge of the department as a whole.
He/She remains in charge of preparing time table, distribution of
classes, distribution of departmental duties among the members of
the department along with maintaining the daily progress register of
the teachers.
Special care is taken for arranging classes whenever a teaching
faculty is on leave.
The HOD also supervises the progress register and the class room of
other teaching faculty members of the department whenever
necessary.
The HOD is the Chairperson in Board of Studies and Conducting
Board of Examiners in the College.
The present HOD was in charge of Hostel Superitendent for the
session 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The extracurricular duties assigned by the Principal are conducted
effectively like Dramatic Society (President), College Union Election,
Disciplinary Committee, Reception Committee.
The HOD is a member in different committee like Development
Committee, Purchasing Committee, Examination Committee, Women
Harasment Cell, Canteen Committee.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT- whatever grant comes to the college
from the Government or UGC, the HOD makes a plan to purchase
seminar books, laboratory equipments, and it is to be approved by
the purchase committee of the college.
CRITERION VII- INNOVATION AND BEST PRACTICES-
Curriculum Design-
As it is an Autonomous College, the courses of studies of U.G and P.G are
prepared by the members of the board of studies under the
Chairmanship of the Head of the Department.
The Choice Based Credit System System (CBCS) syllabi are introduced
from the session 2015-16.
Academic audit is done by maintaining daily progress registers by the
teaching faculties as per the plan given by the Higher Education
Department.
Distribution of the classes is made as per the routine prepared for each
semester examination by the HOD.
It is the duty of the HOD to supervise the classes regularly.
If the HOD is convinced that a teacher is not able to teach a particular
topic, doubts classes are being held for the same.
Feedback responses are collected from the students about the overall
atmosphere of the college.
Remedial classes are arranged for the SC & ST and slow learners in each
month.
Parent – Teacher meetings are held regularly to get feedbacks and
suggestions from the parents.
Students are encouraged to participate actively in Red Cross Societies and
NCC.
Environmental Consciousness is created among the students by
plantation participating Swach Bharat Abhiyan, using clean and safe
water (Aquaguard) for drinking purpose.
Students are encouraged to use cycles than two wheelers.
