WELDING MACHINES

• The machine should be located in a clean dry place. Dirt and dust that can be drawn into the machine should be kept to a minimum.

WELDING MACHINES

- Welding machines should be properly grounded.

- Earthing rod should be inserted into ground minimum 7” ( 19 cm ).

- A proper fire extinguisher should be available prior to start the work.

• Earthing wire of welding machine should be attached to grounded structures.

ELECTRODE HOLDER

Electrode holders must be provided with a handle of tough insulating, non-ignitable material with a guard disc of similar material between the hand of the operator and the welding tool.

An Electrode holder, when live or containing a rod, must be placed on insulating supports, when not in use.

CYLINDER SAFETY

Cylinders must be upright at all times.Cylinders must be shifted by trolley. Do not roll them on the ground.Hoses, gages and fittings should be safely connected and in good condition.

If the flame snaps out when the torch is in use, it is because:

Regulator pressure or gas flow are incorrect, either too high or too low.

• The nozzle has been obstructed.

• The nozzle has been held too close to the work.

• The nozzle has become overheated.
