What a wonderful assembly last Friday. Congratulations to our leaders who did an amazing job at their first assembly. They should be very proud of themselves. Keep up the great job. Well done to the classes who performed last week. Our next Assembly is our Personal Best (PB) Assembly on the last day of school but we will be having our Easter Hat Parade on Thursday the 29 th March as well. Details will be coming in the upcoming newsletters. Good luck to Ruby and Andi who are heading to the North Coast Swimming Championships tomorrow. You should be very proud of yourselves and we will be cheering loud for you both. Have a great day and we look forward to hearing how you go. Thank you to the many people who are keeping any eye on our school. The recent nuisance vandalism is becoming an issue. We have spoken to Safety and Security, who are supporting us to stop this behaviour. New signage as well as information for our community is on the way. It is very important that everyone ensures their own safety so please do not confront anyone on the school grounds. Report any incidents to the local police though so that damage can be minimised and hopefully culprits apprehended. Thank you to everyone who has already provided us with feedback in regard to our Facebook page. Please return these feedback sheets by Thursday this week. Last week new permission notes for publishing photos was sent home. It is a requirement that these permission notes are sent home each year. If you have not returned your child’s permission note, could you please do so as soon as possible. Just a reminder that parents are not to drive into the school carpark. This is a safety requirement for everyone: students, staff and parents, especially after the death of a student in a school carpark in Sydney last year. Have a Great Week. Mrs D. Nicholls

What’s Going Well in Class 4/5 Class 4/5 have had a sensational start to term 1. Most notably our behavior and attentive listening skills have been outstanding. Lessons have allowed us to engage in all of our learning and students have remained focus throughout which is terrific to see. Well done 4/5. We are well underway with our narrative and imaginary writing. We have looked at how Roald Dahl and JK Rowling use adjectives and adverbs in their writing. Students have enjoyed creating exciting and attention grabbing starts to our stories to keep the reader engaged and wanting to find out more. During numeracy classes 4/5 have begun our focus on length. Students have enjoyed exploring our classroom and estimating lengths using formal and informal units followed by checking their estimates. Our Colonial Australia history unit has been very informative. Students are fascinated about early colonial explorers, convicts and colonial life and times during the 1800's in Australia. Keep the focus and application to our work going 4/5 it is wonderful to see. Easter Raffle The P&C are presently collecting Easter donations for the annual Easter Raffle. Thank you to our families who have already sent in items. If you have donations, they can be dropped into the school office. New Seating Our new seating has been purchased and installed. Will be in use as soon as the rain goes away. The P&C went thirds in the purchase of this new resource for our kids and parents. Library We are looking for parent volunteers to cover books for our lovely new looking library. Please contact the office if you are willing to do this and we will send home a bag of books and contact. All offers are greatly appreciated.

P&C Newsletter

P&C News We still have many cookbooks and a box of pre-ordered cookbooks. If you did pre-order or would still like a cookbook, they are available at the school office for $18. We have received very positive feedback about our recipes and they are quickly becoming favourites in many families. Don’t forget our next P&C meeting. We will be discussing the need of a committee to organise the canteens at the MNC and NC Cross Country carnivals as well as a possible breakfast on the Easter Hat Parade morning. Our new tables look fantastic and the P&C assisted with the funding of these through our fundraising in 2017. Our next fundraising item is the Easter raffle. If you have donations, can you please send them into the school office. Tickets for this raffle will go home today. Good luck to Ruby and Andi at the North Coast Swimming Championships.
