Classes FAQ

HOW OFTEN ARE CLASSES OFFERED?There are four sessions of classes each year. The line-up is different each session so let us know if you are looking for a particular class! Session One runs January to mid-March, Session Two Mid-March to May, Session Three June to August, and Session Four September to December. Schedules are released during the month prior. Pop up events may be added throughout the year.

What is your cancellation policy? Sometimes, we must cancel a class due to instructor illness,

weather or other emergency. Every effort will be made to reschedule, however, if that is not feasible the registration fee

may be applied to another class in that Session. Generally, refunds are not available on class registrations except in cases

of emergency. In some cases the registration fee may be applied to a different class. Classes in the pottery studio and taught by

guest instructors may be canceled due to low enrollment. Classes by guest instructors will be clearly labeled as such.

What if the weather is awful? If Buchanan area schools close for weather or road

conditions the BAC will close as well. We will announce any such closures on our facebook page as well as calling

students registered for any class that day. It is important to include the best phone number to contact

you on your registration forms. Putting our phone number in your contacts list is a help as well. 269-697-4005.

It is a good idea to call ahead and we ask that you use your judgement when deciding to come to class in bad weather.

HOW DO I REGISTER?You may register for classes in person or over the phone. Mailing registrations is highly discouraged as the class may be filled by the time it gets to us. Payment must be made to secure registration.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?Yes! We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Gift cards and e-gift certificates are available.

DO I HAVE TO FILL OUT A REGISTRATION FORM EACH TIME?Yes. A form is currently required for each registration. Not only do these forms help us contact you in case of emergency, they also help us know what classes are popular and who our students are. They also contain liability and photo release information.

CAN I OBSERVE A CLASS?While it doesn’t happen often, occasionally observing a class is possible with prior permission of the instructor. Please talk to our director if you would like to observe. Guardians are welcome to stay at the art center during their childrens’ class, however, we kindly ask they avoid distracting students during instruction. The green chairs throughout the building are awfully comfortable, the library provides great work space, and did I mention we have wifi? Some classes build in opportunities for parents to see in progress projects or include guardian involvement.

WHAT’S WITH THE NEW CLASS DESCRIPTION FORMAT?

We have updated the way we display class dates and times, suggested age and fees. Especially with

children, skills do not always line up with a specific age so we have included any skills that will be neces-

sary for a student to be successful in class, such as writing, scissor or cutting skills for example.

DOES THE BAC OFFER OPEN STUDIO?Anyone in the community is welcome to the BAC during open hours to browse our art library, sketch or paint in our sculpture garden, galleries, or classroom (if not in use by a class or BAC project - please check with the desk.) Mediums that require equipment or extensive setup are not allowed at this time. Students may not work in the pottery studio withoutan instructor or facilitator present.
