Message from the Relieving Principal Term 2 has almost come to an end and holidays are fast approaching. The past two weeks have seen many fun events and quality learning experiences enjoyed by students, staff and community members. Harcourt goes to Hollywood was just one of these events. It was fabulous to see so many rich and famous people visit Harcourt for the day! I spent time with many minions, princesses, Disney characters, Matilda and even Mrs Trunchbull.
Students enjoyed the many activities and finished off the day by watching Year 6 challenge staff in a game of kickball.
Yet again it was another event that showed the positive and respectful school community we have at Harcourt. Students enjoyed the day, displayed respectful attitudes and shared the resources and activities with consideration for others. Thank you to the senior students and supervising staff for organizing such a great day. Thank you also to the community members who came to enjoy the parade and share in the experience with their children. Students came to share their learning experiences with me this fortnight. 1C have been looking at the weather and representatives from the class came to share their weather descriptions. Kindergarten students have also been demonstrating their creative talents through the organization of lego. What a wonderful garden these girls created!

Do you know of anyone who is starting Kindergarten in 2017?
It is now time to come and enrol. Please see the front office staff for the relevant forms. In Term 3 we will commence our Transition to School program for next year’s Kindy students and we don’t want any child to miss the opportunity to participate.
Kindergarten transition program What is Transition? For young children, moving from preschool or home to Kindergarten is one of the most significant transitions they will experience. The transition program allows parents and students access to a variety of opportunities which will better prepare them for school life. What are the benefits of a transition program? A transition program provides opportunities for: ▪social and emotional development to prepare students for school life; ▪becoming familiar with school routines; supporting families in assisting their children’s learning before and during Kindergarten; ▪forming positive relationships between children and their families with the school. Details of the transition program are …… ▪Fortnightly transition sessions in Term 3 on Thursdays ▪Parents are welcome to attend transition sessions. ▪Children will take home work each day outlining what they have done. Please call Harcourt Public School on 97185929 and book your child into our transition program. If you haven’t already registered for school in 2017 call in and complete an enrolment form at the office. Further information about the transition program can also be found at the office.
Stage 2 – The Earth’s Environment. In Stage 2, we have been busy investigating Australia and the world around us. Our atlases have been dusted off and thoroughly examined to locate places using the coordinates on a map as well as finding a place’s position by using North, South, East and West language. Our investigations have included exploring famous Australian landmarks, their location and discussing why people value these places. We have also been investigating the climates around Australia as well as the world to better understand the plants and animal life these environments support. So with the internet connected and our atlases in hand, we continue to make new discoveries every day.
Multicultural Public Speaking
Competition
On Thursday 23rd June, Olivia, Sarina, Sani-e-Zahra and Esther, participated
in the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition at Homebush PS. Our

Mrs Pearson and Ms Ngov accompanied the students and thoroughly
enjoyed the day.
