MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
PROGRAM GOALS 1. To engage CEFMA Membership with educational programs2. To promote growth among future leaders in event and facility management3. To provide a connection between entry-level event and facility managers and senior-level administrators
DESIRED PROGRAM OUTCOMES For Mentees: 1. Increased career growth and opportunities2. Tangible preparation for new roles and/or responsibilities3. Refined ability to deal with new conversations and responsibilities as they occur4. Initiate a responsibility of paying it forward5. Identify long-term professional development goals6. Realize the value of networking7. Develop a meaningful professional relationship over a specified period of time8. Increased involvement with CEFMA organization
For Mentors: 1. Contribute to the development of future professionals2. Give something back to the profession3. Satisfaction of assisting less-experienced professionals4. Enhanced reputation as a contributor by visibly coaching mentee to success5. Increased understanding and connection to the work happening at different levels6. Gain positive and fresh perspectives7. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS 1. Mentorship Program is open to CEFMA members only2. Mentor Criteria
a. Mentor should have 7 years of full time experience in facilities/event managementb. Mentor should have a general interest in young professionals and a history of developing and placing facility/event professionalsc. Mentor should be willing to commit to the mentor program from October to Julyd. Mentor must complete an application form
3. Mentee Criteria:a. Mentee should have a desire for career advancementb. Mentee should be willing to commit to the mentor program from October to Julyc. Mentee must complete an application form
4. Acceptance Criteriaa. First Come, First Served basisb. Number of mentees accepted will be based on number of secured mentors in respective programming yearc. Attendance at CEFMA Convention is strongly encouraged
5. The mentees will establish individual goals which will guide discussions6. Mentees/Mentors should schedule and complete at least four calls before the next CEFMA Convention – additional interactions are always
encouraged7. Calls may have a guided topic assigned by or suggested by the CEFMA Membership Subcommittee

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Introduction Phase 1. Introductory (future participants) breakfast at CEFMA Convention
a. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will present the CEFMA Mentorship Program to interested potential participantsb. Collateral will be available outlining the program for interested participants
2. Promotion and Application Period (September 5 – September 24):a. Through membership email, newsletter, NACDA Daily Review, and personal contactsb. CEFMA Board members will personally approach CEFMA members and offer them the opportunity to become a mentor or menteec. On-line application form available to interested mentors and mentees
3. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will match mentors and mentees based on factors such as mutual areas of professional interest, schedules, geographic proximity, etc.
4. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will confirm participants, announce pairings, and deliver the program outline to participants
Mentoring Phase 1. Mentee should make first contact with mentor by October 312. There should be at least four interactions (if not more) between mentor and mentee. The mentor is expected to have an open line of
communication, serve as a confidant, advisor and teacher to mentee. If possible, the mentee should visit the mentor and observe the mentor’s area on campus.
3. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will send reminders for mentor and mentee interaction. At a minimum, mentor/mentee interaction should take place in October, November, February and May. The mentor and mentee are also encouraged to interact more than the minimum.
4. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will periodically send articles and/or relevant information to help generate or guide conversations and discussions. The mentor and mentee are also encouraged to share articles and/or relevant information on their own.
Closing Phase 1. A Closing (past participants) Breakfast will occur at the CEFMA Convention2. The CEFMA Membership Subcommittee will thank participants and listen to feedback from
participants3. The participants will fill out a program evaluation
