Cullen Parkway Improvement (Beltway 8 to FM 518)

Engineer: Design Engineers: Bury + Partners Contractor: Hassell Construction CM: TxDoT Elapsed time: 665 Days Progress this period:

• A completion evaluation walk-through was conducted by TxDoT Wednesday Apr 27

• Contractor continues to perform TxDoT items along with those identified by the City

• Contractor has repaired the drainage outfall for the Exxon Station • Centerpoint has completed the line relocation along the east side of

the project. This has enabled the signal contractor to complete the installation of the street lights along the northbound lanes and they will complete work on the signals and pedestrian signals at that time

Planned Activities for period ending June. 30, 2011: • TxDot should be ready to accept the project by the end of the month

Project Schedule • Schematic plan and PER- April 2007. Completed in May.

o Design Phase started in March 2008. o Complete Design November 2008

Public Safety Building

Design Engineer: JE Dunn/ Wilson Estes Police Architects Design Builder: JE Dunn CM: In House Billed to Date: $ 19,866,065 % Billed: 99.6 Contract Days Used: 786 to substantial completion % of Contract Days: 100 Progress this period:

• Cameras for the Evidence Recording System have been ordered and an early delivery date is scheduled for May 31

o Installation will begin immediately upon delivery • Final outstanding item is correction of the lighting equipment on the front

wall. Custom electrical boxes had to be built, waiting on delivery for installation.

• All LEED paperwork has been completed and submitted to USGBA.

o Review and comment usually requires approximately 5 to 6 weeks. Project was submitted for LEED Silver certification, awaiting confirmation of that determination.

Planned Activities for period ending May 31, 2011:

• Contractor completing punch list items; waiting on delivery and installation of special order materials for completion of lighting and final acceptance

• Security Contractor to install new upgraded interview room cameras and microphones upon arrival.

Project Schedule

• Held design kick-off meeting April 2008. • Break ground Nov.2008. • Building construction began December 2008. • Scheduled completion of building re-scheduled to Feb 4 due to Rain

Delays • Completion extended to end of March by additional work items added to

contract • Partial Beneficial Occupancy began April 14, 2010 • Final acceptance pending installation of the approved cameras and

audio equipment

Hillhouse Satellite Public Works Facility Design Engineer: Huitt-Zollars. Contractor: R. Hassell Construction, Inc. CM: In-House Billed to Date: $ 481,270 % Billed: 22.6 Contract Days Used: 107 % of Contract Days: 39 Progress this period:

• Tilt Wall erection began May 9 completed May 12 • Red Iron installation began May 13 and was completed May 20th

along with the installation of the roof deck pan • Final portion of waterline to building installed along with underground roof-

drain system around building and future fuel island • Interior Mechanicals have begun:

o Interior plumbing rough in completed o Electrical rough in going on now

Added one conduit run to sign shop for traffic signal radio antenna

o “Pour back” of slab at wall panels completed • Fuel system equipment package for Orange Street facility shipped

May 23. o Installation of equipment will require approximately half a day. o New system requires programming and ID card encoding prior to

shut down of existing system for switch over to new. This will allow new system to work before existing system is removed completed so there is no gap in service.

• Pricing for installation of fiber optic to PSB is complete IT department working on contracting for installation of the fiber to the PSB

o crossing design was submitted to TxDoT for permit o approval appears to be imminent / Work will begin upon receipt of

the permit

• Issued Change order for substitute building access control option: o The new system will work from and off of the server at the PSB

allowing all existing Police ID cards to operate access to Hillhouse facility.

o When complete this will standardize access control and ID cards for City employees working out of these two facilities

o This was a “zero dollar” change order

Planned Activities for period ending June. 30, 2011:

• Removal of exterior wall panel braces • Continue installation of electrical above ceiling and into shop areas • Install roof mechanical curbs, insulation and membrane • Begin installation of metal stud framing for interior walls • Program new vehicle ID cards and complete installation of new fuel

management system at Orange Street upon arrival of equipment. • Begin installation of new fuel island and canopy • Begin site paving

• Design notice to proceed Feb. 10, 2010 o Actual start Feb. 24

Barry Rose Road Extension Status Update Public Works Signal division is coordinating with Naztec to program the Barry Rose signal to accommodate construction traffic in and out of the job site at that intersection. This is taking into consideration the eventual opening of the street extension so that only minor changes will be required when opened.

diameter storm sewer lines that will be under the new pavement. We are amending the Change Order because some of the pipe identified can be plugged instead of crushed or removed. The contractor will revise the Change Order.

• Completed the work near the BNSF railroad crossing.

• Hold bi-weekly progress meetings. • Test the remaining sections of the 12” waterline. • Begin the abandonment of the existing waterline. • Began pavement work on the north side of Walnut.

SH 35 Mitigation (F50991) Design Engineer: S & B Engineers, Inc. (S&B) Progress through May 2011:

• USACE issued a Nationwide Permit for the low water crossing on Hickory Slough.

• BDD#4 approved the plans and signed the coversheet • HCFCD final signatures completed. • Completed Project Manual

Planned Activities for period ending June 2011 • No activity planned for June.

• Advertise project for bid in September.

Pearland Gateway (PSTR01) Design Architect: Knudson, LP Progress through May 2011:

• City’s 100% comments submitted to Architect to address. • HGAC Grant for $25,000.00 approved 5/31/11.

Planned Activities for period ending June 2011 • Execution of Interlocal Agreement for the recently approved HGAC

Grant. Projects in Construction:

SH 35 Utilities Relocation included in TxDOT Project Progress for period ending May 2011:

• All utilities have been relocated along SH35 with the exception of approximately 279 feet in the area just north of FM518 to the south of FM518. This work has been delayed due to the discovery of contaminated soil in the area.

• Triple B Services elected to wait on the installation of the 279 feet of utilities in the contaminated area until the change order for the work associated with the contamination has been fully executed by TxDot.

• Triple B Services continued to install the phase I paving. Various driveways, sidewalks and intersections were completed between the flea market and the Pearland ISD Educational Support Building. A portion of the Orange Street intersection was also completed. Phase I paving is the west side lanes (southbound) of SH 35. Phase II is scheduled to be the center lanes and Phase III will be the east side lanes (northbound).

• Triple B Services continued to work on the bridge structures over Clear Creek, Hickory Slough and Town Ditch.

Planned progress for period ending June 2011 • Triple B Services will complete the utilities in the contaminated area once

the TxDot change order gets fully executed. • Triple B Services will continue to work on the phase I paving. • Triple B Services will install the steel water line crossing along the bridge

at Hickory Slough when the bridge construction progress allows and they re-mobilize their underground crew to complete the water line in the contaminated area.

• Industrial TX continued working on the chemical facility and completed the installation of the structural canopy, installed the chemical pumps and 60% of the chemical piping.

• Industrial TX completed the turbine facility foundation and masonry walls of the building and continued to work on the structural canopy of the building. Industrial TX did take delivery and installed of some of the valves associated with the hydro-electric turbine equipment.

• Industrial TX completed the installation of the emergency diesel generator and enclosure.

• The electricians continued to work on the booster pump building and completed the main water plant electrical service & wiring, installed the lightning protection, ground system and yard lighting foundations. Power to energize the site has been requested from Center Point.

facility, generator facility and turbine facility. • Contractor will complete the structural canopy at the hydro-electric turbine

facility. The remaining hydro-electric turbine equipment is scheduled to be delivered and installation started.

• Contractor will complete the chemical facility piping. • The electricians will continue to work on the controls for the water plant

and associated electrical work. • The contractor will start working on the site work, perimeter fencing and

paving.
