Job Order Begins

4 › ››››Specialised technicians,each with many yearsof experience, will carryout a detailed studyof the machining methodto define all the details.

After obtaining the order,the Commercial Department and the Sales Engineering Department transferall the technical/commercial information over to the Project Manager to begin the Job Order.

The machining processes, usually accompaniedby the physical availabilityof the workpiece or of the semi finished pieces, are analysedby the Sales EngineeringService team and the customer.

Based on the resultsof the analysis, the commercial department completesthe procedure by issuinga detailed offer includinga preliminary project design.

The designers will define the technical details by using modern engineering procedures including integrated PLM and a broad ERP system. Such technical details are then taken over by the Production and Quality Departments.

9› › › ›The main machinesub-assemblies aremounted and, in manycases, pre-tested onthe bench before beingpassed over to the final assembly phase.

The pre-acceptance functional testof the machine is carried out together with the customer, by checking accurately and by machiningthe workpiece according to NAS standards. During this step an intense training phase takes place in orderto instruct the customer on the useand maintenance of the machine.

Once the machine has been installed and tested, it is again subject to strict testing, which consists in repeating specific functional tests with the customer as well as the machiningof the final workpiece.

During this step the machine starts to actually take shape. A teamof specialised assembly technicians will carry out a complete assembly of the whole system in a dedicated area inside the Innse-Berardi plant.

The shipping documentsare prepared and the machine tool delivered to customer’s site, where a teamof technicians will installand commission it.

It is equipped with a new generationCMM machine (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for checking workpieces upto 8 x 3 x 2 metres. The job ordersare managed by using specific software supported by SAP management.

Like all the other companies ofthe Camozzi Group, besides being certified to ISO 9001, Innse-Berardi operateswith a TQM (Total Quality Management) system. In accordance with this allthe production phases, from initial design through to production, are followedby strict quality and functional inspections. The same goes for the machine installation and start-up and it also includes specific training sessions for the operators. Dimensional quality inspections arecarried out in a state of the art metrology room, where the temperature andthe humidity can be carefully monitored.

Recent developments in the field of digital technology have led to the developmentof new business models that place distributed intelligence and communication skills at their core. According to Industry 4.0 paradigms there are no machine tools, there are no warehouses, there are no systems that provide specific separated functions.Rather, there are Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) able to interact in an intelligent way, among themselves to exchange information, monitor each other and coordinate themselves autonomously. This is precisely how Innse-Berardi machines are designed and produced. They are Cyber Physical Systems capable of collecting process data by means of suitable sensing and telemetry on the main electromechanical parts and actuators (temperature, vibration, speed, acceleration, cycle time etc.), and to

communicate with the other components of the ‘factory system’ through integrated IoT communication solutions. Thus, it is possible to monitor and analyse the main process KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), as well as energy consumption, machine status and the efficiency of each individual element, detecting abnormal patterns or the appearance of statistical or recurring phenomena. Thanks to our partnership with Microsoft, these applications can be used in the cloud through the Azure IoT platform that, in addition to security and consistency, also provides a set of standard servicesfor integrating business management data.

Proper maintenance, especially using predictive procedures, optimisesthe efficient use of production assets.Thanks to a data capture system integrated into the machine control, the ‘remote maintenance’ system developedby Innse-Berardi detects the operating parameters of the most critical partsand transmits these to a remote monitoring station, thereby anticipating the possible occurrence of operational anomalies.Users of Innse-Berardi machines can therefore count on the 24 hour assistanceof our technicians, who, although thousands of kilometres away, can guaranteeto monitor the efficiency of the machine. MAIN MARKETS

Ever present in this field, Innse-Berardi produces horizontal and vertical milling-boring machines, either withhydrostatic support, or which slideon linear guides and rollers, for machining turbine cases and other precision work. In addition, there are milling machines for producing generator rotor slots or turbine rotors,as well as multi-spindle drilling machines for terminal and intermediate tube plates found in heat exchangers.

From the machining requirements of large diesel engines, to giant transmission boxes, the marine sector has always been important to Innse-Berardi, which for decades has supplied large machine tools to all the major manufacturers of equipment, components and semi-finished pieces fitted on board merchant, civil and military ships.

Innse-Berardi is able to offer different technological solutions for the aviation/aerospace industry, which includethe machining of a number of aircraft components: from landing gear in steel and aluminum, to large fuselage components as well as main aircraft structures in aluminum, titanium or composite materials.
