2. What is CyberKnife?CyberKnife treats pa0ents with a procedure called stereotac(c radiosurgery. Stereotac0c radiosurgery is a noninvasive method of trea0ng tumors with high-dose radia0on precisely aimed from dierent angles. How does CyberKnife work? CyberKnife does not require surgery and there is no cu7ng or anesthesia required. CyberKnife is comprised of a compact linear accelerator a machine that generates a radia0on beam aCached to a highly maneuverable robo0c arm. During treatment, the machines robo0c arm moves around you, aiming and ring targeted radia0on beams from numerous angles. The imaging and tracking system con0nually updates the tumor loca0on throughout the treatment procedure, compensa0ng for pa0ent movements like breathing. Treatment sessions typically last 30 - 90 minutes. 529 S. Jackson St. Louisville, KY 40202(502) 217-8200 www.louisvilleck.com 3. 529 S. Our CenterLouisville CyberKnife is part of the renowned James Graham Brown Cancer Center, home of the rst na0onally accredited radia0on oncology program in Louisville. Our center brings together experienced physicians and the latest medical advances to provide pa0ents with excep0onal care. Our center u0lizes the CyberKnife 9.6 system, which features a device that controls the width of the machines radia0on beam, allowing clinicians to vary the beam size and treat a larger variety of tumors throughout the body. The US Radiosurgery NetworkIn partnership with the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, Louisville CyberKnife is a US Radiosurgery facility. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, US Radiosurgery is a division of Alliance Oncology and partners with hospitals and physician groups around the U.S. to develop and operate full-body radiosurgical centers. Collec(vely, the US Radiosurgery network of centers has treated thousands of pa(ents since the opening of the companys rst center in 2003. The group of facili0es is ac0vely engaged in research, with physicians regularly presen0ng papers and authoring ar0cles related to the ecacy of CyberKnife treatment for various types of tumors and lesions. Tumors of the lung, brain and prostate, as well as certain func0onal disorders such as trigeminal neuralgia, have become key treatment areas throughout the network of centers. 529 S.
